  1. You can simply add the payment to your favourites and then you won't have to look for it in history. It will show on the homepage of the bank's app
  2. Yesterday I walked around for about 1 hour looking for a kbank ATM. Passed many 7-11's with no ATM at all or the wrong bank. And that was in Chiang Mai city, night bazaar area...
  3. This has nothing to do with sea level rising. It's rain water with nowhere to drain. This problem has been here for more than 30 years. Was solved for a while when water was drained to the swamp in bangpli, but they had to build an airport right there, so nowhere for the water to go, again... You're talking about 2011. No official fights about agriculture. The rainy season started very slow and it was considered a drought year and therefore didn't release water from reservoirs. When more rain finally came officials worried they won't last long and kept water. By the time they realised it's not a drought they had to release water faster than the water could flow through the rivers and canals and that is what caused the floods in central Thailand, not only Bangkok
  4. To be honest I've never entered Thailand on a foreign passport and tried to get a new Thai passport. But the process of getting a new (replacement for expired) passport is very simple -just show the old passport. They don't check stamps on the old passport and I doubt they check immigration computer to see when you last left\entered the country using the Thai passport. That said, even if they do, I'm sure it can be solved.
  5. She can simply go and apply for a new Thai passport. Even if by entering on a foreign passport it's a problem, to fix the problem will be much cheaper than 5k\month she's paying to immigration at the moment according to the op - a very strange story by itself...
  6. How is it easier on a foreign passport? Longer immigration ques at the airport in and out and if something happens and she had to stay longer then there's the cost of extension and maybe even an overstay fine.
  7. As do Jesus, Moses and Muhammad with all the wrong doings of people AND leaders of all religions
  8. During King Rama 5 the royal court grew a lot compared to previous kings due to the fact that he had many children - all with royal titles. When Rama 6 became king it was very difficult to distinguish 1 person from another by 1st name only (as there were no family names back then) so 1 would have to be described by his/her name and how they were related (son/daughter of etc') so King Rama 6 has decided all Thai people should have a family name, but the family names must be unique. So every Thai head of family had to choose a family name and register it with the local government office (these days it is done at the district level). Each application was noted with date and time and all requests were sent to Bangkok. In case more than 1 person asked for the same family name - the 1 who was the 1st to request it got it. So, yes, basically all THAI family names were and still are unique. The only way to "get into" an existing Thai family name is by being born to the family or for women to marry into the family. Another option was to get a permission from the "creator" of the family name, so this option today only exists for newly formed family names that the "creator" is still alive (I doubt any of the people that lived during King Rama 6 is still alive today...). As for foreign family names - this is fairly new thing in Thailand. Up until about 35 years ago a Thai woman that officially married a non Thai would have lost her rights to purchase land and own more than 49% of a business. So at that time there was no point for a mixed couple living in Thailand to register their marriage and for the woman to take her husband's name. After that law was changed there were more and more Thai women that took their foreign husband's name thus you can see now more and more Thai people with non Thai family name, and as western family names are far from unique, you have now many non unique "Thai" family names. Also, as the original family names were "created" over 100 years ago (4+ generations) you might find more than 1 person with the same family name and they are seemingly unrelated, although I am pretty sure that if they search for the origin of the family name they will find that they are somehow related. The process to apply for a change of family name is pretty much the same as it was over 100 years ago. 1 has to go to the district office, register the new family name. The request is then stamped with date and time and passed on to the central office in Bangkok. It takes some time before the name is approved or rejected. I am not sure about current rules, but at least until about 20 years ago the family name had to be a THAI name, with a Thai meaning. That means that 1 couldn't even apply for a family name such as Smith/Rogers or any other name with no actual meaning in the Thai language, unless the name change was due to marriage with a person holding such family name. From Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_name): For centuries, inhabitants of Thailand, formerly known as Siam, did not have surnames. They identified themselves by referring to their parents' given names or the place they resided. The Siamese government started recording data on its citizens during the reign of King Rama V (1868–1910). The data recorded consisted of birth dates, dates of death, and household members. It was difficult to distinguish between citizens as many shared the same name. In 1912, two years after King Rama VI ascended to the throne, he declared that a birth, death, and marriage registration system would be instituted in Siam. Everyone had to bear a surname to identify themselves properly. In 1913, the first Surname Act was promulgated.[1]
  9. I know many western guys named Richard and they ask people to call them Dick. I don’t think anyone has given them details of what their name means in English. ????
  10. You have to assume there is. that's why the IO scan the passport and enter details on the computer. No he can't. When crossing a lands border, the IO of the country you are entering checks the stamp of the country you just left - hence the "no passport swapping at a land border". So just getting stamped out on the EU passport and then turn around and re-enter on the Thai passport won't work, nor going into the other country and coming back the same way . At least 1 way must be by air. Even at Maesai border where Thai national don't need a passport to cross, they are issued an official Thai passport that is stamped out\in on both sides of the border. Not only Thai borders. It's the same at least in all neighbouring countries. Read your post again - you mentioned Thai passport 4 times and 0 times EU passport...
  11. I think this part was lost in translation. I'm pretty sure he meant it's much harder to get addicted to cannabis than it is to cigarettes and alcohol
  12. Royal Canine full time, twice a day. Not cheap, and the prices keep going up, but AFAIK the best brand available here. In between they sometimes get snacks - vegetables/fruits cuttings (sometimes they even pick their own fruits from the trees, if they can reach them...).
  13. What I meant was - did you see that the plot is up for sale and then made the contact, or you just saw a plot you like and asked if owner would sell... as I WAS offered land (by "dealers") that the owner didn't want to sell. When I was looking for land to buy, I looked for "4 sale" signs and contacted the number listed. I never just went to ask see a chanot which wasn't on offer at the land department. Also - the land department usually do NOT have the contact number of owners. I never had to show/give my tabian bahn when bought a property and never had to give or update my contact details. In the few occasions I was offered a plot by a "dealer" who refused to get me in touch with the actual owner and I tried to get his details from the land department I was told they don't have the details... As for the "red chanot (sale restrictions) if you saw the back side of the chanot the stamp is there with the earliest date the property can be legally transferred.
  14. Was the land advertised for sale? Or you just saw a nice plot and decided to ask to buy it? Did you ever meet the owner? Did you get the chanot and did you check the land status at the land department? I was once offered a nice plot, walled around it and told the guy who showed me the place I'm willing to go forward - I want to see the chanot and check it. He later contacted me and said the plot want for sale...
  15. They can't have the airlines collect it through the tickets as it is only for Thai citizens and PRs. Same problem as with the proposed 300 THB entrance fee for tourists. In the past it was collected by the airlines who have a government issued coupon that the passenger had to give to immigration officer at passport control.
  16. You have a vivid imagination.... What I saw in the clip is the guy in black shirt gets off his bike, walls over to the tuktuk driver, punch him few times and then jumps on the bike and run like a baby. If there was an argument over the amount, they could have just call the police to mediate.
  17. Send like temples can be great businesses. I'm opening one next week. Please start donations now.
  18. Someone's a politician's personal reasons are in line with citizens benefit, so who cares he made money of this process as well?
  19. Thai smile and BKK airways might have business or premium economy on done of the flights
  20. The 1st article is saying 1000 THB for All while the 2nd is saying 1000 THB for Thai citizens and PRs only... So which is it? In the early 90's there was a 1000 THB tax for Thai citizens (don't know if it was for PR's as well) and it was a pain...
  21. But this is Thailand, not the UK. The road tax and compulsory insurance (p.r.b) go with the vehicle, do yes, they "continue to live" till the expiration date.
  22. So he told her he's not going to turn the meter on only after they were on their way? And he managed to go through traffic and traffic lights without any stops? Sounds like bs to me. I've had many drivers refusing to use the meter, but they say that before I even get into the cab, so I just say thanks, no thanks and wait for the next 1. Only once at the airport (official taxi rank) the driver started driving without the meter and wanted a fixed amount. We were still on the airport grounds so I told him to stop the car and I went back to get another taxi.
