  1. So you have a good reason for wheelchair us . I have a spinal problem and normally have a wheelchair but flying tiger did not mention a physical problem and there are sometimes able bodied people who blag it to get a wheelchair because they are too lazy . That sometimes results in there being a shortage of wheelchairs and in turn a long wait . No different than fit people parking in a disabled parking bay .
  2. Most of us are not able to afford business class but normally the economy class and that is where the problems are caused at Suvarnabhumi . Immigration queues are often long and not enough immigration officers . I ask myself this , would it be possible to have Thai immigration officers onboard the long haul flight to Bangkok , 11 hours or so , to carry out immigration checks which would then allow uninterrupted passage to the carousels or transport on arrival ? Did you know that there is a " Fast Track " system for both arrivals and departures in Suvarnabhumi . Basic walking through the fast track lane costs around $66 or with an electric buggy $140 . These prices are for travellers who want the visa on arrival . For local Thais it is $ 35 and $112 .
  3. Very few smoke rooms in airports now . The middle east still have I believe but not nice without ventilation . The smoke rooms at Suvarnabhumi were nearly always occupied by airport workers which may have been the reason to close them . Strange that airports sell tobacco products but do not allow them to be used .
  4. So the movieprep did the job eventually ?
  5. I am surprised its not working for you . Are you taking 1 sachet of A and 1 sachet of B and mixing them in 1 liter of warm water ? Drink 1 quarter of the 1 liter mix every 15 minutes . It normally works after 2 or 3 hours . You will have to repeat the same mixture drink on the morning of your colonoscopy . The colonoscopy will not be performed if the laxative has not worked , as told to me by my doctor . Also no eating anything once you have started to drink the movieprep . Good luck .
  6. Me too . Had a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy 5 months ago in a UK NHS hospital both without sedation . The colonoscopy was not a problem , you just feel the probe inside your body but the gastroscopy was not good . Just a spray to the back of the mouth to give numbness but the probe had me heaving a few times . I would recommend sedation for the gastroscopy .The colonoscopy requires that you take laxatives one day prior to the procedure . My laxative was in the form of a powder that is mixed with warm water . Laxative name is Moviprep .I can warn you not to go out but stay near your toilet because you bowel movement is lots and sudden .
  7. I once sat next to 2 guys from London on an Eva Air flight , London to Bangkok . They were drinking the whole flight and walking up and down the aircraft . When we were about to land I asked them if they were capable of walking to immigration and they said no problem because we have a buggy booked and we have a false doctors note saying that I have sciatica . They passed me in their buggy with a " See you later mate " yell and chuckle . So as you say a note could be forged and fool the Thai authorities but if the medical note was shown in the UK with a formal letter showing the N.I. number and hospital number , then a check could be made prior to travel and stamped for other foreign airports to allow assistance . IMO wheelchairs should be booked at the time of booking a flight , a medical cert shown as previously mentioned , and not a free for all at airports.
  8. Thanks Rob . For someone to go to the extent of making a false medical cert , well I agree it would be difficult to stop . However many able body people make the decision , to ask for a wheelchair , at the last minute . As told to me by 2 middle age women who said they " blagged it "and got wheel chairs because too far to walk . There is no doubt that the wheelchair system is abused , as I have seen on many occasions .
  9. This is true . My skin below my bottom lip turns to a bright colour red after I have been down there . Takes 2 days to go back to normal . Playing away ? requires planning so as to return home with a natural face colour .
  10. Think you have got it right . In Thailand the zebra crossings are supposed to be where pedestrians cross the road . Not sure about the rest of the world but in the UK the traffic will stop for people on the zebra crossing but not in Thailand . Maybe cameras could help ? Where I live there are cameras that take your picture when passing through a red light . A letter arrives with the picture and a fine . When taken to the local police they say no problem and not pay . Also I often see cars and trucks double parked on zebra crossings . Ten years old children riding motor bikes . Thailand is almost a lawless country
  11. Thanks Bill and you have my sympathy . Not only ignorant people but ignorant airport staff who should be marshalling / supervising the day to day airport facilities . Good to hear you were taken care of by the check-in staff . I am only partially disabled and can manage to walk 50 yards but then have to stop when the pain kicks in . I think that wheelchairs should be issued to passengers who can show a valid medical letter , explaining their illness .
  12. I sometimes have to use a wheelchair because of a spinal problem . I have noticed recently that there are a lot of physically able people using wheelchairs because they are overweight and lazy . After arrival I watch them walking away with their luggage at speed . Genuine wheel chair users sometimes have to wait for the service because all chairs are in use . In this case the airline are at fault having received plenty of notice and that should be the time to advise the customer that they cannot let him fly , not at the gate . Amateurish business , poorly organized .
  13. “Thailand is poised to become the aviation hub of the region.” How about improving provincial air travel where at the moment , nearly all domestic flights must fly to Bangkok and then fly to their other Thai airport near their destination . Also a new international airport mid country would make sense , instead of only Bangkok .
  14. At my local gov; hospital you have to walk up a steep slope to the hospital entrance , then you are told immediately by a nurse to sit and take a b/p test in the b/p machine . Mine is always 150 ish , wait 5 minutes and its down to around 130 . At home its always around 120 / 60 or there about . Having a few beers the night before can an effect of increasing your b/p . I once took amlodipine and it made my legs and ankles swell up ( Edema ) . Doctor stopped amlodipine and put me on losartan . Your b/p is always higher in the morning and peaks at mid-day then drops late afternoon and evening .
  15. Hi Dario , You and me have similar health problems , remember the nerve condition and benfotamine ? Well I also have had re-flux for as long as I can remember and used to eat Rennies ( antacid tablets ) as if they were sweets , to quell the acid . I am also taking omeprazole which works well as a preventitive not a cure . Long term use of omeprazole is not recommended in the UK . The NHS state up to 3 months . I have been on it for over 20 years . The omeprazole reduces the strength of the stomach acid and re flux . However the stomach needs the acid to digest food t and extract and pass vitamins to other organs . Aspirin is frowned on in Thailand as it can cause stomach bleeding . Do you know that soluable aspirin is banned in Thailand . Yet it could be a life saver in the event of a heart attack or thrombosis . Warfarin is the preferred medication as a blood thinner in Thailand along with a few other anticoagulants . Never mind the reflux , you must speak to a doctor quickly regarding the withdrawal of the baby aspirin and a possible blood thinner replacement for your cardiac condition . Strangely enough I purposely did not take an omeprazole this morning . I was ok for about 4 hours , when after lunch the indigestion started . I do have some liquid gaviscon which stops the re flux for an hour or 2 . Coffee and smoking are two of the main causes of re flux along with spicy food and acidic fruits . Long term use of omeprazole can have effects , link below . I am not a medic but I am quoting my experiences and advice given to me by UK doctors . https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/drugs-dexilant-side-effects?utm_source=ReadNext#talk-with-your-doctor
  16. Many years ago I had Scouse work mate , was 6 feet 6 inches tall , big build and a ruffy tuffy guy , name big Jim . He picked up a job in Liverpool docks to provide a partial repair/ refit on an unloaded oil tanker which was going to Brazil , without docking on the way . Supplied by offshore means . It t took about 1 month . At arrival in Brazil the ships crew were all out for a good night . After many beers Jim picked up a lady of the night and took her to his hotel . When it got down to the bedroom business Jim discovered that what he had picked up was a fella . Jim told me this . He said to me , keep it a secret but I was so horny , having been at sea for a month , that I shafted him . I was in hysterics when Jim said he had to call an ambulance in the morning because the Brazilian guy could not walk .
  17. I often have to use a wheelchair in airports because I have a spinal problem . With Thai Air , apparently they say when making your booking , there is an option to request a wheelchair , though on a test booking I could not find that . They also have a web page titled " Special Assistance " but that only refers back to the requesting wheelchairs when making your booking . At most international airports there are wheelchair providers that are not attached to any airline but are part of the airport service . I have never requested a wheelchair when making a booking , only ask when at the airport but that seems to be on a first come first served basis and one time there were none available at Suvarnabhumi airport . There were able bodied Asian fat women sat waiting for a wheelchair and I would have to get in the queue . The system is badly run . The same at Heathrow where the electric mobility buggy is occupied by lazy , overweight Indian women at the expense of disabled passengers who have to wait by the aircraft for transport . In my experience the wheelchair service is abused and wheelchairs are often provided to people who are not handicapped but are often overweight Asian women , or lazy fat ( under the influence of alcohol ) men . IMO wheelchairs should only be provided to people with a doctors note / medical cert . Tip , get to the airport early if needing the use of a wheelchair , especially if making a long haul flight with many passengers .
  18. but still crap compared to the UK / Euro lottery . What happens to the Thai lottery revenue ? cos it is not paid out in prizes .
  19. If only the subject of " UK Frozen Pensions " could be debated on live UK TV , to hear the government reasoning for their denial of annual increases for ex pats retired abroad and who qualified for the state pension after many years of contributions that would be interesting to say the least . Say on the BBC Question Time programme , asking a Labour panelist , if they will honour the J. Corbyn oath to unfreeze the ex pats pensions . Remember the UK government threat that all ex pats living in Europe would have their increases stopped but then decided to change their minds and set up a social security agreement with the EEA + many other countries . Another group of countries are on a similar deal called reciprocal agreements . List of Social Security Agreement countries Austria Belgium Bulgaria Croatia Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark Estonia Finland France Germany Greece Hungary Iceland Ireland Italy Latvia Liechtenstein Lithuania Luxembourg Malta Netherlands Norway Poland Portugal Romania Slovakia Slovenia Spain Sweden List of reciprocal agreement countries Barbados Bermuda Bosnia-Herzegovina Gibraltar Guernsey the Isle of Man Israel Jamaica Jersey Kosovo Mauritius Montenegro North Macedonia the Philippines Serbia Turkey USA
  20. The procedures that I have had for skin cancer are . 1/ Cryogenics , i.e. the freezing of the scab using liquid nitrogen , 2/ Under the scalpel , 3 / Using a cream name Efudix , 5% Fluorouracil which if used in the early stages of a growth , is effective .It has to be used sparingly and placed directly to the growth and avoid touching your unaffected good skin because the cream has a corrosive effect and can cause your skin to become reddened . I have been using it for the last 3 days to remove a small growth under my lower eye lid , now gone . In the UK , my local dermatology doctors were sometimes undecided to state which skin cancer I had because bascal cell carcinoma often resembles melanoma or Squamous cell carcinoma .To be on the safe side they operate , normally the same day of your consultation , and a biopsy is taken . So far my 3 operations have produced negative biopsy / melanoma results . As we know the sun is very strong in Thailand and for that reason I try to stay out of it or wear a wide brimmed hat or carry an umbrella .
