  1. Back in the UK none of my 4 kids were vaccinated ............ it hasn't appeared to have negatively affected them. Ages vary from 20 to 34, no serious diseases caught so far.
  2. You're just plain wrong, (and my family were all dead by their early 60s). https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20181002-how-long-did-ancient-people-live-life-span-versus-longevity "Back in 1994 a study looked at every man entered into the Oxford Classical Dictionary who lived in ancient Greece or Rome. Their ages of death were compared to men listed in the more recent Chambers Biographical Dictionary. Of 397 ancients in total, 99 died violently by murder, suicide or in battle. Of the remaining 298, those born before 100BC lived to a median age of 72 years. Those born after 100BC lived to a median age of 66. (The authors speculate that the prevalence of dangerous lead plumbing may have led to this apparent shortening of life). The median of those who died between 1850 and 1949? Seventy-one years old – just one year less than their pre-100BC cohort."
  3. The Schweppes tonic was also half the price of Thailand. Sunset G&Ts from my penthouse at Barretto ................
  4. I blame food additives for rising cancer rates. Or maybe vaccination ........ or pollutants in the water supply ...... There are lots of things beyond our control. Lead pipes were responsible for a reduction in life expectancy of 10 years since Roman times, and that's only recently being fixed. The chemicals in contraceptive pills, urinated into out water supplies, have massively reduced fertility in the western world.
  5. Non Smoker here, I believe you're wrong and the bad smell is due to you being sensitised by first being an addict and then quitting. I've never smoked tobacco, and don't find the smell particular offensive. It's a bit like those who get religion in later life become more pious than those who always believed.
  6. I believe it's because the other milks (Dutch Mill/Foremost) are largely made from powder. (I may be wrong, it might be they're ultra pasteurised .... they both take a suspiciously long time to go off)
  7. The coffee shops all use Meiji ...... Dutch Mill doesn't froth.
  8. Thai immigration makes me want to live somewhere else. Once inside you never need to see Cambodian or Philippine immigration again.
  9. As far as I can see nothing has really changed. Thailand pass and worthless COVID insurance still required. Until they're both gone, there will be few tourists.
  10. Nope, they just come right out and say it's a condition for opening an account.
  11. I don't know why so many posters seem to dislike Indians. I've never been to India but have met many out and about around the world, always polite, never looking for trouble. I like Indian food and often visit Indian restaurants when on holiday, always enjoy their cooking. Sure they come from a poor country, but that's not really a reason not to like them.
  12. It's not really the customers place to make up for unscrupulous employers. If the massage ladies aren't paid enough, they should look for work elsewhere.
  13. Minimum wage is 300bht ........ 500bht for 2 hrs seems like a good wage to me. I wouldn't tip either, unless for optional extras.
  14. 43.85 baht/litre for gasohol 95, 43.58 baht/litre for gasohol 91 and 42.74 baht/litre for gasohol E20. I only use 95 at the moment, anything else is silly.
  15. Is that after the taxes are taken into account? Usually tobacco sales make profits for a country, even after health care costs are deducted. "Each year, Thai Health has the budget around US$ 120 million from surcharged tax from tobacco and alcohol products." https://tobaccotax.seatca.org/country/thailand/#:~:text=Each year%2C Thai Health has, from tobacco and alcohol products.
  16. All the Honda's with fuel injection will run on E20/91/95. But when fuel prices are all nearly the same use 95 'cos it goes 20% further than E20.
  17. I agree with you, Both have their pros and cons, but nothing overwhelming to choose one country above the other. If I were choosing from the UK today, it'd probably be Philippines or Cambodia rather than Thailand. Just because of ease of entry and ease of VISA. Obviously I currently have a load of baggage in Thailand, so no point to jump ship.
  18. AirBnB suggests different ........... 9kbht/month. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/27123112?check_in=2022-06-01&check_out=2023-07-01&display_extensions[]=MONTHLY_STAYS&federated_search_id=8c5f8eb1-a6a9-4c41-85c0-2595aa997643&source_impression_id=p3_1653704737_vDMP3DZuG6THl9ob
  19. Personally, I like having kids and would never enter into a relationship with a woman who was known to have previously killed her own children. IMHO people who don't want children should refrain from having sex.
  20. Sitting in my home, everyone else went out, doors and windows open, sun shining, all I can hear is birds tweeting.
