How is 90 day reporting supposed to work?
jimn replied to SunsetT's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Then he must be paying lots of fines then. Nothing to be proud of. Its an easy 5 minute process online. -
Well earlier this year in March a Chinese guy bought a white lion cub and allowed it to roam around his garden on my gated community. This was widely reported in the media including the Pattaya News and Asean Now. We went back to thr UK in May and when we returned it was gone. Maybe the same one. https://thepattayanews.com/2023/03/02/chinese-neighbor-alarms-pattaya-residents-with-his-pet-white-lion/

You are showing a complete ignorance of how it works in Thailand. Granted banks are making it harder for foreigners to open accounts but on the other hand a foreigner needs a Thai bank account to show the funds for an extension of stay. Thai authorities only play with the rules around taxation etc etc. They always turn a blind eye if there is money to be made. I have lost count of the number of foreign owned businesses in Pattaya that are only fronts for money laundering. I drive past a pizza/ kebab restaurant every day and a European buffet place. Never have I seen any customers in any of them and this is at various times of the day and evening. They get away with it because like every thing else in Thailand someone has been paid off. Normal rules do not apply here despite your well meaning rationale.

Not really off topic I mentioned UK credit cards because I dont keep my money in Thai banks. Hence why I use an agent. So it is connected. But you are right Wise is not a credit card and therefore not comparable to the Halifax Clarity or Barclaycard Reward card.

New Passport, 90 day report, TM30

Trying to bump this one up because Jomtien Immigration is a well duscussed topic. I am surprised no one wishes to comment. Especially those who have posted incorrect information about Jomtien recently. -
Big Joke tried and failed thats why he was sidelined thats why it goes all the way to the top. In the main I am talking about the individual offices. It is not a low level officer signing the extensions it is the senior officer. Granted yes it is corruption and yes they make a lot of money off of it. Corruption is an acceptable way of life over here, you should know that. From planning permission, to road building, everyone is at it.

For me its not wanting to keep any more than I need to spend or pay bills in my Thai accounts. I prefer to use the UK as my banking base. There is not a chance in hell that they will stop agent arranged extensions. They are agreed from the very top of the immigration tree. My extension is signed by the same senior officer who signs all the extensions. My agent obtained extension is perfectly legal and has no special code alongside the stamp to indicate otherwise.

As another poster pointed out therr are many. Personally I have The Halifax Clarity Card and the Barclaycard Reward Card. Both give an excellent exchange rate following the Mastercard or Visa rate. Free ATM withdrawals, plus many other benefits. I use one all the time and the other as a standby. Pay the bill once a month from my UK bank account. Before you say it, there is no chance of account closure. I have a UK home and stay there 4 months a year. I keep as little money in Thailand as possible. Anyone who keeps 800k locked in a Thai bank account either have no choice or are misguided.

I understand. I was going to say come to Pattaya for a few days to get it done, but thats as bad as an agent where you live doing an out of area extension.
-
Yes I can my agent does it all for me. I have to visit the bank but not immigtion. I wont name my agent on open forum but if you PM me apologise for your previous dig at me I will. In any case no good for you he is in Pattaya.
-
That must be an up country thing. There are many in Pattaya that only deal with the local Jomtien office. 12.5 k all in and you do not have to go anywhere near the immigration office.
-
And sensible they are too. I keep as little as possible in my Thai bank accounts. Maybe transfer in 20 to 30k a month. I use my no fee excellent exchange rate UK credit cards for most things and pay it off in full from the UK when due.
-
More fool you for using an agent who deals with an office outside your area. That would be a definate no no from me. The agent I use deals direct with the Jomtien office where I live. Only dodgy ones deal out of area.

Jomtien Immigration. This is one for those people who consistantly say that when you get a new passport you have to go in person to do a 90 day report and submit a new TM30. I entered Thailand on September 28th carrying old and new passports. I was stamped in on new passport. 2 weeks after arrival I visited Jomtien immigration to change my retirement extension stamp to my new passport, a free and easy procedure. No mention of TM30. Yesterday despite people saying it cant be done I submitted ONLINE a new 90 day report using my new passport. This morning it was approved until MARCH. My TM30 is about 6 years old and I always return to the same address with my extension and a re entry permit. Nothing was mentioned about submitting a new one. Many criticisms of Jomtien by people who dont know, but I always find them first class.

In Pattaya all the staff in the large Lotus's have to wear a mask. I give a silent laugh when I see them.

UK credit cards are a different beast to UK banks. Using a no fee UK credit card raises no flags. They expect you to use abroad thats what they are for. I use mine all the time for years now.
-
I just use my no foreign transaction fee UK credit card for all my Lazada purchases. It saves having to wait in, it stops any scams. Works perfect every time. Cant use on Shopee though which means I dont use them. Obvously the people getting scammed either don't understand or don't bother looking at the item tracking. In our experience we get a call from the delivery driver prior to every delivery. Get scammed its your own fault.

Yes Roojai cheapest but its all great until you need to claim. I think they use preferred garages not main dealers as well. I have always used https://www.viriyah.com/

Lots of confusion. When renewing an extension of stay, it will only be renewed up to expiry of passport. FACT. This year whilst in the UK I got a new passport even though it still had 18 months validity. I did this because I knew that when I renew my extension in May 24 that I would lose months on my extension. On returning to Thailand I showed both passports old and new. They put arrival stamp in new passport. A few weeks later I visited immigration to transfer extension stamps over for free. Dont be caught out and believe some of the drivil being posted in this thread.

I meant Leicester sorry. I have always wondered what It must be like living a life with an old woman might be Thai probably Farang. How would one cope she cant cook, falls asleep on the sofa all the time and her genitals have closed up through lack of use. I suppose it doesn't matter because that person isnt capable anymore anyway. Talking about you just get your kicks watching young Thai girls dancing and singing. I have my eye on you my friend, I suggest you stop insulting me now. You have turned this personal by making insinuations about my wife just because she is an ex gogo girl.
