  1. Recently went to Bangkok Bank branch on Sukhumvit in Bangkok. This is the computer the person helping me was using: I have not seen a 3.5 floppy drive in over a decade.
  2. I believe the poster was referring to: "ensuring the conflict does not expand to consume the entire Middle East.", in which case, the US might be pulled into the action, and thus body bags nearly guaranteed. Doubtful, however, that this would unfold before the next election.
  3. Dengue worries me much more so than Covid.
  4. When I was young, back in the 1960's. I remember so many accidents. Kids losing arms and fingers. Kids losing their lives. It was very common. Farm equipment is very powerful. Deceptively powerful in ways. Never to be treated with anything less than utter respect. My sincere sympathies to his family.
  5. That is a good question. My agent was able to go to "an office" (forgive me for not knowing, but I think the "land office"), and was able to get a copy from them, since it is a public record.
  6. Do not know how to answer that question. They wanted the Tabien Baan and Thai ID of the owner that was on the lease. I believe they also wanted the Title, but not absolutely sure of that. Possibly this is where the address discrepancy came up. Unfortunately, it was all happening quickly in Thai, and my agent did not explain it very well, and I really did not care the details - I just wanted it all to end. That is why I pay an agent. To make the pain go away.
  7. And then you can add the costs of the business and work permit, as well as the required employees. Having run a business established under the Amity treaty, my expenses ran about 5,000 baht per month for accounting services, roughly 50,000 baht per year for the work permit and extension renewals, and then the costs of having my employees (salaries and taxes). The costs are not trivial, and can be a bit painful if not supported by actual income from the business. On the other hand, if the money is flowing, then you can easily pay for these headaches to disappear. Oh, and then there is the cost of setting up the company. As mentioned, 2M baht for proper capitalization, and the costs of establishment, which ran roughly 180,000 baht in my case (it can be done cheaper).
  8. Those eyes suggest there is something more than just vegetables in that V8....
  9. As above, CW. I am not sure about the desk. It was the "retirement extension" division. I believe "L" was the desk designation. I partly blame my agent for forgetting that the additional lease evidence was required on the first application. She indicated that it was not required for further extensions (only the lease is required), but maybe she was attempting to save face. The "alternative" was, of course, suggested by the very hungry IO.
  10. Chaeng Watthana. The officers seemed exceptionally "hungry" this time around.
  11. All well and good, but not sure what the two guys surfing the bus bring to the equation...
  12. Not sure what the issue is. They are the "Mass Communication Organization" after all.
  13. Confirmed. Two days ago, my application for extension was almost derailed due to the address on my lease not matching the address on the property deed. I do not know the exact details, it was all just a "blur" for me, and fortunately my agent was able to sort it. It took several hours to get things "lined up". Of course, I was offered an "alternative", but the price was unacceptable.
  14. Having seen entire floors of hotels booked as an "operating brothel", some hotels are duplicitous in the operation. The "visitors" are treated as such, no TM30, no passports, no bookings.
  15. I was forced to set up a second Apple Store account for this region. Had to do the same thing to install the 7/11 app. It is a PITA, but not impossible.
  16. Thai women do look quite beautiful when dressed in this manner.
  17. Would be nice if they could exert some control over "immigration gifts"...
  18. The one thing I do not do is punish innocent people who have nothing to do with immigration's policies and actions.
  19. Some of the most amazing things to ever happen in my life happened "after 12". Most of the worst things to ever happen in my life happened in the middle of the day.
  20. I have had this happen quite a number of times over the years, in various ways. I always fix the problem, simply because for most of these employees, that mistake will come right out of their paycheck. And they are typically not making enough income for that to be trivial.
  21. In my dreams, both parties start offering presidential candidates worth voting for. Has not happened in forever.
