you can report them to Honda if they did that, they will take his bike in for service, but for things like warranty work with claims on parts... they could drag their heels as it's not 'sold by them' I feel Yamaha is stricter on their dealer in this regard
-
they are quite in demand, so expect a long wait, and especially if you're buying cash, as most of us will be, the shop wouldn't give you the time of day due to the fact that they can milk the finance out of Thai people better, some might even put up the price over the MSRP for cash buyer even. there are some online seller who don't mind cash and will deliver for a fee, see if the delivery fee to your area will be less than what the local dealer are charging over the MSRP

for third world markets, manufacturer seem to have given up on expensive cartridge, most decent inkjet printer from big brands come with ink tank from the factory where you can refill yourself and even the official ink in bottles that you squeeze into the tank are reasonable I think models with ink tank are around 3000 baht, how cheap the initial price for the cartridge model would have to be for it to make sense with razor handle+blades model? 1,999? but with each refill costing 5-600, 2 each for color and black, that's almost the cost of the printer! sure, they fill the cartridge that came with the printer a little low to prevent people from using the printer once and buying new ink tank printer in the west so far seem to be only available for 'commercial' models of around $200 and up for now

Yellow book troubles reporting to DOPA
digbeth replied to Billy Bloggs's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
the book doesn't move or change address, it's supposed to belong to the house, people move between books you don't need to move to your 'new' current address if you still have access to the 'old' one unless it's beneficial to do so like property tax technically the housemaster is supposed to notify of any change when people move or be fined, but how're they gonna check? when selling the house you're supposed to give the new owner the housebook so they can move in if they choose to do so.... but if there's a yellow book thais rarely know about I supposed you could hold on to it and it's valid until the new houseowner become aware and kicked you off his book, but I don't imagine it a straightforward process trying to get a foreigner name removed from yellow book without knowing where they moved to. -
Horrific death of 11 in passenger van crash in Thailand
digbeth replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
cng compressed natural gas tank in these vehicle is compressed to about 3200psi, properly fitted and maintained they can be quite safe, but about 10 years back when it was popular to have them fitted due to rising petrol/diesel price, there were plenty of case where it just blew up from the force of compression alone with no flames, taking out roof of the filling station typical location of these tank are usually in the back where it's perfect to be rear ended but it's supposed to be inspected yearly with engineer's report and replaced every 5 years, so perfectly safe liquefied natural gas is even more compressed and were only used on boats so far, in Bangkok canal boat it also blew up once, and never used again LPG - liquified petroleum gas is the same as the cooking gas used in kitchen... more well known and energy dense so not as compressed as natural gas and gives more range per tank, these rarely explode from the compressed gas alone but just lit up, big accident in Bangkok in the 90 where the big truck transporting LPG overturned, spilling the heavier than air gas along the road and subsequently lit into a sea of flame burning for day and killing almost hundreds -
you're covered by the Thai compulsory insurance as a passenger, initially up to 30,000 per case for injuries, more (up to 80,000) if found not at fault later motorbike taxis must have yellow plate for commercial vehicle and the rider(driver) has appropriate license in order for it to be legal taxi, usually the rider will have his license on display on his vest they can get additional insurance on top of the compulsory ones, but doubt many do many taxis operating on non commercial plate or without license is not reason to invalidate the compulsory insurance claim, any passenger can still claim against the compulsory insurance, providing that the vehicle they're in has a valid insurance for the year.... now, would the idiot riding around in illegal taxi without proper license be up to date on the bike's yearly tax and insurance?

Are written prescriptions available in Thailand? Advice needed
digbeth replied to hello55060's topic in Health and Medicine
repeat visit at these pharmacy would hurt less than the doctors' fee at hospital, they might even deliver the smaller quantities if they can't get one big lot for him if he establish a relationship with the pharmacy and they know he's good repeat customer and not a sting by police/fda they can probably move more stuff for him -
Horrific death of 11 in passenger van crash in Thailand
digbeth replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
after many deaths years ago these vans are supposed to have GPS speed controller that would alert the authorities the moment the van went over the limit -
in Bangkok the provider (MEA) will only provide second meter to be TOU if your existing house is already on TOU or want to switch to TOU which could be more expensive if you live in the house during weekdays, (in this case the 2nd meter is for when you don't want to touch the existing house wiring to upgrade the meter to higher rating in case they don't pass inspection, the company only need to see the wiring of the new supply and leave the existing house wiring alone) if your supply and wiring is already adequate, just run a wire from your existing consumer unit (breaker box) Outside of Bangkok PEA will happily let you have just the 2nd meter be TOU

Are written prescriptions available in Thailand? Advice needed
digbeth replied to hello55060's topic in Health and Medicine
I've known the doctors at behavioral health clinic at Bumrungrad to be accommodating if you say you need a longer supply without the need to re-visit if the first thing you do after walking through the door is demanding prescription how you like it they're probably not gonna take it well you're already paying the doctors fee, doesn't hurt to go over your symptom and what works once again with the doctors here failing that, some well stocked pharmacy have them 'behind the counter' this is less than 100% legal of course -
so, if I own the empty plot of land and my neighbor, or their representative contacted me expressing their wish that would I mind not building so high as to obstruct their lovely view, my response would be to offer them a price for the land the only time a lawyer would be useful if they are getting planning permission to build and you have your lawyer go through for anything you can use against them to stop the build deeds for mountainous area on a slope can be contentious as they must be 'grandfathered' in before they became illegal to be issued with the title deed, maybe there's gap in ownership or paperwork or irregularity in the deed being issued where it shouldn't have that would have invalidated the deed, but once you go down this route you'd have made an enemy of not just the plot owner but the dodgy officials who facilitated the deal that made it happen in the first place and who know if your plot won't get caught in the same net if you start probing this avenue

Woman Senator Lashes At Prayut For Doing Nothing To Combat Corruption
digbeth replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
when the draft came out, anyone criticizing it were arrested, and many said that just vote it through so that we can have an election and get back on track to democracy and the constitution can be amended decade in, any attempt to amend the constitution is shot down by the very mechanism that was the point of contention about the constitution, the appointed senate... now it's as if it's set in stone -
Covid Vaccines no longer free to non-Thais
digbeth replied to digbeth's topic in Health and Medicine
I don't think the newer variants like the bivalent booster are even available in Thailand Only Pfizer is available now, all the 2022 Moderna has expired, the Astra and Sinovac has disappeared for good To be fair, they are expecting the Chinese to be taking advantage of the previously free vaccine, expats and retirees are caught out by this measure unfortunately It'd be funny if there really is demand from the Chinese to get good vaccine once they arrived, only to turn up at Thai government hospital and be given SinoVac that was graciously donated to Thailand from China -
Haven't seen this in the news so not sure if this has been reported before, Went to a Bangkok Metro Administration hospital to get a booster shot yesterday, before they open they made an announcement that to coincide with the Chinese arriving, Covid vaccines are no longer free for those without thai ID, for foreigner with work permit, the fee is 120 baht, anyone else without work permit has to go to certain big hospital only and the fee is around 1000 baht, looks like they expect the Chinese that never had non-Chinese vaccines that want to to be taking this option

The first toner that comes with the printer could be smaller capacity than standard ones, best get another spare if you'll be needing to print anything in volume that makes sense to buy a laser over inkjet it's always best to check the availability of toner for you printer before buying to see that you can reorder regularly,

H1 is counted as 11 seat, the middle front row doesn't count here, your blue plate for 'up to 11 seats' are legal to drive with normal licence, no need to worry about that. If you ever got stopped by some clever policeman and asked about the missing seats, the expected reply is that it's broken and being fixed... that should get you off the hook

For Thai classification, if the van is over 2.2 tonne, or seats over 12, (typical van will seat 'upto 11') it is then classified as 'commercial' you have to provide a reason why you need it if you are registering in a private name (having lots of kids and stuff will do) and show a copy of land title with permission to 'park' your van there if you don't own the land the plate will be truck styled big plate with numbers only, still blue, or yellow in case of for hire van

Locating land owners
digbeth replied to NorthernRyland's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
the or bor to would have their last mailing address for them to pay land tax, the information from land office would at least have the owner's ID no, that can usually can be used to traced in the national database if you have 'contact' that can access such system, lawyer or private investigator know how to work such system, technically not legal but it can be done in order to get the initial info from the land office, you can go up to ask the land office and say, a guy, say some name has came and offered you the plot next to your house, you're not sure if he's the legit owner, can the nice folks at the land office check? and they'll -
for Thailand, after 3 years of no tax paid, the plate is considered off the road and you're supposed to surrender the plate to the DLT, you're still on the hook for the unpaid taxes and interest though, but there are no new tax past three years, to get it back on the road, you have to re-register the vehicle with new number

if you had paid for 'inspection' to tax your 2021 vehicle, the shop you used was taking you for a ride
