What is that rotten stench coming out of the Taps?
rotten egg smell is caused by hydrogen sulfide. I get it in my outdoor hose reels. It goes away after a couple of minutes when the water is flushed from the hose.

Where are you doing Xmas Day?
I just enjoy having a turkey dinner once in awhile. Nothing to do with religion. Humans would be better off without religions. Anyway thanksgiving is a harvest festival. Giving thanks for having enough food to make it through winter.

Where are you doing Xmas Day?
The last 3 years I've gone to Chiangmai for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. Once at Chiangmai smokehouse for their thanksgiving buffet. The rest at The Dukes. Dukes switched the last 2 years from a buffet to a set meal service. Still large portions though. 4 years ago I went to Bourbon Street Restaurant in Bangkok for their Thanksgiving and Christmas buffet meals. The year before that we did Thanksgiving at home. But a frozen Turkey costs over 3,000 baht. So I figure why not spend that and let someone else do all the work. I've considered trying some of the hotel holiday meals but they are quite abit more expensive.

Scam or Not?
About 10 years ago I lost an ATM card in a machine. It was at an SCB branch. I went inside and told them. They were kind enough to close the machine down and open it up to check and retrieve the card for me. But it took awhile as they had to count down all the money in it when they opened it up.

Pattaya punch-up: Ex-US soldier seeks answers as Thai man delivers unexpected blow
The original article does say police are checking security cameras. Also at the end it mentions that a similar thing happened to a Russian woman about a month ago.

Earth on verge of five catastrophic climate tipping points, scientists warn
If you check out earths history there have been several mass extinctions in the past. Mostly caused by climate change. Way before humans were here. Out biggest folly is thinking we can do something about it.

Booking.com hackers increase attacks on customers
Since they are saying it is the hotels system that is compromised I'm not sure this would help. Best thing to do is never use links sent to you. Also don't give info to people calling you. Specially those claiming something will happen if you don't give them your info.

How come English speakers are incomprehensible to others?
There are a lot of Filipino english teachers in public schools here. They can have quite an accent. So that may be some of the reason for it. I sometimes feel Thai's purposefully don't understand me when I am speaking Thai. I know my Thai is not the greatest and I mess up tones. But I think sometimes it is because when I speak thai they are listening for english and just hear gibberish.

Subsidy approved to discourage sugarcane farmers from burning canes
What I see around where I live. In Ratchaburi they use machines to harvest the sugar cane. But after the fields are harvested they burn them, just like rice fields. But when driving thru Kanchanaburi I see the sugar cane in trucks that is already burnt.

Thai man on wild hunt for lost lottery ticket after jackpot surprise months later
He didn't buy the ticket through the app. I suppose you could go around and scan your other family members and friends tickets to put them in the system and claim they were yours later if they allowed you to claim a prize without the actual ticket.

Cancel Non-Imm O retirement extension and close bank account
You should leave at least 2,000 baht in the account. Otherwise after 1 year of no activity in the account they will start taking out 50 baht a month until the account is empty.

Is this a dumb idea?
If you want to detour a bit Sam Phan Bok (3,000 holes) is worth a visit (assuming they haven't finished the dam down river from there). Also best viewed out of the rainy season when water levels are lower. Definitely worth it to pay for a guide as they know where all the best formations are. Sam Phan Bok

Apartment building just "found" a new electic meter attached to our room
If you have 3 separate meters I would assume you also have 3 separate breaker boxes. Do you? If you only have one breaker box most likely you only have 1 actual meter.

US Medicare - what do most expats do?
First off Medicare will not cover anything outside of the US. So for me it seems silly to pay for the other parts that you will probably never use. But say if you don't pay for part B at 65 you can still get it later if you returned to live in the states but it would cost more. Part A you are going to get automatically anyway.
