Can you recommend a good solar panel installation company?
lom replied to cmike's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
No, you would need around 25KW of inverter (3 x 8 in parallel would do) , the same amount of panels and 75 KWh of batteries to make you self sufficient. Do you have enough roof space to accommodate 48 panels? -

My big family has learnt to get back to electric for boiling (eggs, fish, vegetables, and such) but they use gas for frying. They are actually great at saving to our electricity bill by using higher current drawing appliances during daytime when we have more solar energy than we can use. -

I watched the video and tried to imagine what was going on. I guess I'm not very good at imagining.- 94 replies

We have 14KW of panels, a 12KW inverter and 30KWh of batteries which covers 98% of our power usage which is 1500KWh/month. That is for 3 modern fridges, 1 freezer box, 5 Daikin 18000 btu inverter AC's whereof 2 are running 24/7 and the other 3 running night time only, all set to 27° C. Total cost for the solar was around 500.000 baht and estimated 6 years before ROI. -
That can be much longer if you have to charge while travelling and have to queue for charging. It is an infrastructure problem of mains power availability at the charging stations, a problem we saw in Germany and Austria during last years winter sports holiday. Customer had to wait 1-2 hours before getting access to a charging post which sometimes were of limited number due to not enough mains power in the area. It will take many years before we have the infrastructure for a guaranteed quick charge of EV's on the road so an EV owner has to plan forward and take responsibility for his own charging. Best way in my opinion to do that today is to buy a hybrid if you are travelling long distances. Will the problem be gone in 5-10 years time? I doubt it, infrastructure will surely have improved but will it ever be able to cope with a growing fleet of EV's?

Dumbo.. The fire department identified the car which started the blaze. There's video of it. It was a diesel Range Rover, one of the Land Rover group of cars. While there is a diesel battery-electric hybrid option for some of the Range Rover groups, there's zero evidence that it was a hybrid.

I don't think it is that simple, you'll have to have a very good reason for replacing a 5 year passport that today has more than a year remaining of validity. Only 6 month left - ok, no pages left - ok, need in order to get a full year extension - no I don't think so..

So did we Europeans in the 50's before yellow-green became the standard. The phase and neutral colors that @OneMoreFarang listed became standard at the same time and red was removed from use because it could be confused with old earth color.

Charging an EV with solar cells
lom replied to edwinchester's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Fast chargers are able to detect the cars DC battery voltage (200 - 800V) and adjust itself to match that voltage. In theory you could set up a solar panel array matching your cars DC voltage but I think you would at least have an MPPT in between in order to get most out of your panels. There is a reason why V2L/V2G/V2H/V2V is AC, it can be connected directly to the consumers regardless of what DC voltage the car battery has. The inverter in the car is 2-ways, converts incoming AC to DC when charging the car and converts DC to AC when delivering to an external load. Since the inverter is made for the car then it is made for the specific DC battery voltage of the car. Correction: Rapid charger (Level 3) is the direct DC charger that can adjust itself to the car batt voltage. -
If you are using passport number + the magnifying glass to pull up previous data then check dates in the report before submitting it. I had my last report rejected because "visa stay expires" was an old date, I've never had to update that date before, had always been done by immigration office when applying for a new 1 year stay (retirement).

Dividing up land, status of shared road
lom replied to thedivezone's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
The Mrs and I gave the road to Tessaban when we divided land into plots, that made the road public and made it much easier for us to sell the plots. It was a simple thing to register in the Land Office. -

Then they are the ones you should contact so they can rectify the problem. Do check the oil level on the stick yourself before using the car!!

Then learn that it is a requirement in Koh Samui. If you file a TM30 today then it should have the dates from "today" to the end date of your permitted to stay stamp. So for me (and KhunPer) it means that we have to file a new TM30 just before applying for a new yearly extension and include a copy of the TM30 receipt together with the other documents.
