  1. They do. You may be thinking of the LTR holders who only have to report annually.
  2. Numerous reasons such as politics (depending on the countries involved you may have issues if you've been to one or other previously), timelines ( if you have to travel a lot for business say, you can't afford to be without a passport for the time it takes for some visas to be issued) and of course a favourite of a cohort of people propping up bar stools around the world, their job CIA/MI6/ASIO/FSB etc. ????
  3. Not legal/legit ones there isn't. An IDP can only be issued by the country of your home licence; if you see someone advertising otherwise it is a scam or counterfeit.
  4. The 90 day report has nothing to do with your current extension per se (yes, you need to be in Thailand legally, how much longer your permission to stay for after the date the 90 day report is due is irrelevant). It is a report you are still in Thailand 90 days after entering (or since your last 90 day report if you haven't exited the country), your legal status and where you are living. It has nothing to do with the future, other than you will be fined for not doing one if you need to renew your permission to stay and haven't left the country since it was last due.
  5. You can still get SIM cutters: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/sim-cutter-3in1-micro-nano-sim-for-smartphone-i4289859659-s17044598734.html?spm=a2o4m.tm80167383.similar-items.d_1.2ed724bcsAlvQM.2ed724bcsAlvQM Can your phone handle eSIMs? If so, can easily get an Aussie eSIM. Can always buy an Aussie number but not sure if I'd rely on one for banking: numerous places available e.g https://www.textmagic.com/
  6. I didn't think you needed one in the US but wasn't sure if accepted in all States?
  7. As usual, specifics will depend on the IO you go to, based on your "name" I don't recall seeing anything asked for out of the ordinary so likely along the lines of the requirements listed here: https://www.thethailandlife.com/residence-certificate-thailand although TM6 is no longer relevant and I believe some IOs are happy with just a TM30 without a copy of your lease.

  9. If it's worth that much, tell him to sell some and use the money to pay his debt.
  10. Unlikely, normally you can apply 30 days early (some IOs reported as allowing 45 days). Could always talk to your IO and see if they'll work with you to meet the timelines. Yes, at your local DLT (https://www.dlt.go.th/en/international-driving-licence/). Check if you actually need one, many countries allow you to use a 5 year Thai licence.
  11. Never tried as never needed to, but I take what they said, and are still saying, at face value e.g.
  12. The fact they don't transfer Baht out. They are working on it and you can sign-up to get notified if/when they accomplish it.
  13. With a current CBT certificate and displaying L or D plates with a view to obtaining a full licence within two years (or rinse and repeat). Without knowing what policy she had pretty pointless speculating. Bottom line is insurance paid out therefore, in the eyes of the insurance she had a valid licence.
  14. Never seen a report of that being valid for insurance nor for getting a Thai licence as a normal occurrence - although read a couple claiming they managed to get an IDP with motorbike licence indicated and where subsequently able to get a Thai licence.
  15. Haven't seen anything stating she was an experienced rider. If I got a bike licence 30 years ago but hadn't ridden since, it would still be a valid licence for insurance purposes, if I passed my bike licence a couple of days ago it would still be valid for insurance purposes. Neither scenario would have me described as an experienced rider though.
  16. "With the help of her dad, Dave, Emma was able to cover the bills - before being reimbursed by the travel company. "It only cost £200 to take the policy out, and it saved me over £20,000 in medical bills," she said."
  17. Extremely unlikely the insurance would have paid out if she didn't have a valid licence.
  18. My condolences, good for you for trying your best and being there for him to the end.
