Seems touch and go re obtaining Non O e-Visa. Don't think you have indicated home country. Read carefully the post above from @khunPer. No offense but you have not made your inquires well in advance So in summary No Bank account. Funds not yet in place . Family in tow and located on Koh Samui. For general information to others....for your first 12 month extension it must be obtained at immigration office where the Non O is issued. A Non O e-Visa would solve your problems if time permits.

Thai Immigration Appointment System
DrJack54 replied to Griffo63's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
At the moment you book a slot it confirms on screen. I then take a screenshot and later print it out. -
Return for what. You have been advised of pathway from visa exempt to Non O retirement via attached threads. AND Option of obtaining Non O e-Visa from outside of Thailand. What else do you need to know. As pointed out earlier ...to obtain the Non O retirement in Thailand you need to show the 800k came from abroad. You have had the 800k in Thai bank for some months. You need to check with immigration if this is acceptable. For Non O retirement obtained outside of Thailand the funds do not need to be shown came from abroad.
-
Amazing. You would not be given a Non O with just the TM87 form and passport. The threads I posted outline all the other docs required. The main one being (for retirement) 800k in Thai bank account. Along with others such as proof of address etc The fee would be 2000b for the Non O and in 1900b for the subsequent extension obtained couple of months later. Perhaps time for the Monty Python cheese shop sketch.

Here is a link (non immigration site) Explains clearly the process. Scroll to TM87. Perhaps if they saw the form they might wake up.. https://www.thaiembassy.com/thailand-visa/thai-immigration-forms This site has most forms to download. Scroll down to TM87. https://thaivisaexpert.com/download-forms/ Still better here is Chiang Mai own immigration site. Scroll down to "change visa" Hit that and scroll down to #9 https://chiangmai.immigration.go.th/en/front-page-english/#onlineservice-2 There are so many threads on AseanNow reporting success in changing from visa exempt entry to Non O. Here is snippet from ubonjoe post years back regarding that option. "You could also enter visa exempt and then apply for 90 day non-o visa entry at immigration. And then apply for a one year extension of stay during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry"

Bank funds for retirement visa
DrJack54 replied to whophant's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Ok. Yes when you attend immigration you need to show bank account with 800k seasoned for 2 months. Your wife will need to attend immigration with you. For subsequent extensions she need not attend Edit: whoops answered twice. -
Strange. You have been provided correct advice and the links posted to other threads and here is another. https://aseannow.com/topic/1321855-visa-exempt-to-non-o-in-chiang-mai/ Cut/paste AI is not helpful. For example the post of yours with AI states 15 days + remaining on permission of stay to apply for Non O. That's true for most offices. CM require 21.

Assuming that you fly to Thailand visa exempt then use of agent to open bank account may be necessary. When you apply for the non O (marriage) you require 400k in the bank on day of application. You stated the following...... " ....i can transfer enough money to thai bank around 2 months after i get there, i might need it faster for the 1 year extension". Without sounding rude ...I don't follow. If you can't transfer 400k as soon as you have a bank account what's the thinking here. Requirements (financial) is outlined above. The Non O gives you a 90 day stamp and 30 days prior to expiry you obtain the 12 month extension. For the extension the funds need to have been in bank for 2 months. After you obtain the extension the funds can be used Does your countries embassy provide "income letter" Given the fact you don't have the bank account in place and also require time to transfer the funds, you may consider obtaining 60 day extension to visit wife to visa exempt entry to buy time to organize things. Edit: be aware that flying visa exempt the airline at departure may want to see onward flight. Edit: I was looking for agent reports re bank account and found this thread. I posted at the start of thread that not sure about Samui for obtaining the Non O. https://aseannow.com/topic/1343209-visa-agent-koh-samui-surat-thani/ Read post in thread from @khunPer who suggests might be issue with obtaining Non O from visa exempt entry.
-
Wife and daughters won't help. You will have difficulty in opening a bank account on visa exempt. That is why people suggest obtain the Non O in home country as with a Non O you would be able to open a bank account. An agent can open a bank account. Where will you be located in Thailand meaning which immigration office?

When to apply for METV

When to apply for METV
DrJack54 replied to Jack1988's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If his research indicates up to 15 days process time then plan accordingly. The METV will have a validity of 6 months from date of issue. Worst case scenario would be 15 day short of 9 month stay. If for some reason METV issued after flight to Thailand then the fall back plan B would be to enter Thailand visa exempt and use e-Visa at later stage. -

When to apply for METV

Apply in which country. -
Just a guess : I can't see it happening super quick. It will be kicked around for a while. Hopefully for those that have made travel plans based on the 60 days can be given advanced notice. Given that (my guess) tourists make plans well in advance it could impact many. As posted the fall back plan B would be to obtain SETV via e-Visa platform. Not ideal but doesn't wreck holiday plans. Still leaves 60+30(extension) possible.

Go through the links to the threads I posted above. One for visa exempt to Non O marriage and the other to Retirement. The threads also has links to additional threads. If retirement you would need to find out from immigration if funds having been in country for some time proof came from abroad not required You after Non O marriage or Non O retirement?
-
Yes Here is thread visa exempt to Non O marriage https://aseannow.com/topic/1315828-visa-exempt-to-90-day-non-o-spouse-visa-conversion-in-thailand/ Here is thread visa exempt to Non O retirement https://aseannow.com/topic/1325238-procedures-for-non-imm-o-and-one-year-retirement-extension-from-a-visa-excempt-30-day-entry/

That is one option. You apply anywhere outside of Thailand using the e-Visa platform. Don't use Laos at this stage. Saigon is a good option. The amount of time you stay depends on how long the process takes. The other alternative is to exit Thailand kill off current permission of stay and reenter visa exempt. That is border run with agent. From the visa exempt you can obtain a Non O at local immigration office. Where are you located. Usually you need to show the funds came from abroad, however if the money has been in bank "for some time" then that may be overlooked.

Visa Options After Work Permit Cancellation

Should be possible. Thinking change to based on marriage good option. Can obtain work permit with that. https://aseannow.com/topic/1339630-switching-from-non-b-to-marriage-or-retirement-visa/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1233744-want-to-change-from-non-–-b-to-non-–-o-based-on-marriage-as-leaving-my-job/ -
Thai Immigration Appointment System
DrJack54 replied to Griffo63's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
When I have had to deal with CW without appointment, I use this model.... Arrive just prior to lunch break (12 noon) and obtain queue ticket. Note you need application form filled in. Use lunch break to attend to photocopying, banking etc After lunch you do not need to get into the long line. To the left side those with tickets are allowed entry first.
