coming to thailand in february for 6 months
DrJack54 replied to parafareno's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
A throw away ticket is a real ticket. Not illegal. Means you just don't use it. A "rent a ticket" is a ticket valid for short period eg 48 hrs. Not illegal and satisfies airline requirements -

So you had a SETV or METV and immigration refused entry? Did you post this experience on AseanNow. Would be of significant interest.. Where did they take you to book this onward flight? Did you have significant history in Thailand meaning back to back tourist visas. -
Cancelling work permit late

The OP, currently has a visa exempt stamp. -

You are getting mixed up. Flying to Thailand visa exempt it is the airline at departure that MAY ask for onward flight.. On arrival in Thailand airport immigration will not ask for onward flight (they can but won't) with your history. No reason to go to Philippines unless you want to. As I have posted twice in the thread if airline request onward flight you can step to the side and book a throw away. Under 2 mins. DMK to Saigon one example 2k baht. -
Yes your alternative forum is https://aseannow.com/forum/193-marriage-and-family/ You state visa status not relevant. There is more to being legal father to live in Thailand with extensions from a Non O. You also point out that you have personal experience in similar situation. Currently your friend has cooperation from mother. That can change. You state...."His relationship with the Thai woman is quite stormy and this results in the kid sometimes having to go to Isaan to stay with the family, while things settle down" Marriage is NOT an alternative many would suggest.

OP, begs the question what's the reason behind idea of marriage? If it's to facilitate obtaining a Non O + extensions based on parent of Thai child then state that. If your friend has idea of Non O marriage+ annual extensions then state that. How is he currently living in Thailand Is friend's name on child's birth certificate. Here is thread. In thread I posted thread where ubonjoe posts some helpful links. https://aseannow.com/topic/1327020-extension-of-stay-based-on-having-a-thai-child/

coming to thailand in february for 6 months
DrJack54 replied to parafareno's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Agree, however given the OP stating he has never been asked in 11 trips previously he could just step aside and book a throw away if required. I just tried now and it took under 2 mins. 2k -

So why your concerns. Here are the facts....some folk report NEVER being asked for onward flight with history of many flights to Thailand visa exempt. Many say they have been asked by the airline at departure. Myself being one. There is the answer to your question. You may be asked for onward flight. Enquire with your airline. Edit: I just now did a dry run booking throw away DMK to Saigon. 2100b. Took under 2 minutes to get to payment. Indeed step away and book flight a good plan B -
Options to start Non-O again
DrJack54 replied to KaraokeMad's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
He stated/requested for posters not to go off topic. His reasons are irrelevant Of course there are docs and financials for Non O from visa exempt entry. All outlined in the attached threads posted earlier -

OP, your question comes up often. Some discussion here. https://aseannow.com/topic/1318022-do-you-really-need-an-onward-flight/ You can buy a "rent a ticket" here is one of many companies "onwardticket.com" approx $16 usd. You can but cheapest throw away ticket approx 2k baht. You can hope airline does not ask and if they do step away and use one of first 2 options. Obviously you would need internet. -
Changing visa while work permit still valid
DrJack54 replied to Lolothai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
imo You should avoid further advice from forum. You did a border bounce and exited Thailand without taking care of work permit. Currently on visa exempt entry. Mention agent can do something for 25k. Not clear exactly what that is. Frankly seems you have backed yourself into a (corner) situation. Starting numerous threads is not the solution. -
Under Consideration - 2 months

Your insurance company may not see it that way if involved in accident. -
Under Consideration - 2 months
DrJack54 replied to connda's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That was possible years ago. If you had read up in the motor forum you would be made aware that a certificate of residence is required. Also in many offices (CW one example) not available on day of application. Seems as usual just down to poor preparation. -
60 day marriage extension
DrJack54 replied to SERGERAMOS's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Bottom line is your immigration office has told you that they will not issue you 60 day extension to visit wife. Move to another plan. -
Love the joint. Just spent few weeks there over Xmas and NY. Had unusual experience of staying there for 8 months + when covid hit March 2020. Zero people there except for those that live on island during that time. Even closed to tourists. Some Chinese tour groups but they stick to certain areas. You see lot of family groups mainly from Europe etc. Easy drive from Bangkok Sand is white for a change. Pic January

WISE want me to update details
DrJack54 replied to DrJack54's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
May I ask... Here is pic of my home screen WISE. The AU left side with $120 balance is my wallet. So you don't have that layout? It was not presented to me as an option from WISE but rather a must do. -

DrJack54 replied to connda's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'm aware of that however as you point out you (your passport) still need to be in Thailand on certain date for final stamp.. Roster workers (oil/gas) one example where not practical. -
WISE want me to update details
DrJack54 replied to DrJack54's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I think that I found the issue. Bit embarrassing. Looked at my last 3 transfers. Seems one of which I transferred from my Westpac app to WISE rather than the Wallet. I don't know why you didn't receive directions to set up Wallet. This specifically for Oz folk. What we now do is transfer funds from Oz bank account to individual (own account) held with Wise. For the transfer to Thai bank it goes from Wallet to Thai bank instantly.. Won't close this thread (yet) but thinking led bit of wild goose chase. -
60 day marriage extension
DrJack54 replied to SERGERAMOS's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Well you have your answer already. As I stated in my first post.... "As usual there are few immigration offices that may have issue. As pointed out in attached thread." If Udon Thani immigration stated they won't do it then they won't do it. Easy drive from Udon Thani to Nong Khai for border bounce. Be aware that they currently making you stay 1-2 nights. Consider minivan agent. -

DrJack54 replied to Lolothai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
One month is enough however i suspect the agent will only offer Non O based on retirement. You dealing with Pattaya agents? From memory that's where you did last border bounce from for current visa exempt 60.
