Changing visa while work permit still valid
DrJack54 replied to Lolothai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Clearly you have few things going on. Pity wife is unavailable as with a Non O marriage and ongoing extensions you are permitted to obtain work permit and work. Between rock and hard place springs to mind. Also remember that with a Non O (90 day stamp) you can also obtain 60 day extension to visit wife. That suggestion is just to buy time. Note for 60 day extension to visit wife she needs to attend immigration. (catch 22) -
Changing visa while work permit still valid
DrJack54 replied to Lolothai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
From memory you had issues obtaining a Non O marriage as wife working away from location of your immigration office. Seems you have two options. Obtain a Non O marriage from a visa exempt entry. If wife cannot be available then thinking that you would need to exit Thailand and obtain a Non B eVisa. Not sure if Laos would be a good option as eVisa has just been introduced and process time not confirmed. -
Yes agents can do a TM30. For one you mention anyone can check it out by google "TM30io"

60 day marriage extension
DrJack54 replied to SERGERAMOS's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, you can obtain 60 day extension to visit wife. As usual there are few immigration offices that may have issue. As pointed out in attached thread. Which immigration office? Wife must attend immigration also. https://aseannow.com/topic/1327691-60-days-extension-to-visit-family-restrictions/#elControls_18927448_menu In thread above my first post has link to thread and comments from ubonjoe. Here is one ... "Chaeng Wattana immigration has issued the 60 day extension of a tourist visa and visa exempt entry after the 30 day extension of them were issued.. More than one report about it." So yes it's possible. You should obtain the 30 day extension first. -
Non O change single to multi entry.
DrJack54 replied to supermac's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That's correct. Guess only thing to add is that a reentry permit takes half a page of pp so for me anything more than one exit I would obtain a multi.. -
There are MANY threads related to your thread. Here is one of a zillion. https://aseannow.com/topic/1317531-800000-baht-account-after-i-die-can-the-partner-access-the-account/ I avoid them as the advice is so problematic. Even read reports where bank staffer advice was just to bleed the account with ATM. My understanding is that when one person passes the account cannot be accessed. Others state that with death certificate the wife can access the account. Issue is you won't be here to sort it out. Also many using retirement money in bank but not married (me) I want bullet proof solution. Hence income method or agent.

Bit off topic however given all the nonsense with TM47 and TM30 of late esp with travel abroad I'm a poofteenth away from using an agent. Only mention that option as it also avoids funds being difficult to access for wife/partner.

Borderline mystery: Chinese model’s vanishing act stuns nation

Kasikorn is also partner bank to Wise. I fully expect that when I prepare bank statements for immigration that some transfers will be shown as local transfer eg BBL to Kasikorn. To cover this "issue" I will obtain "credit advice" from bank.

WISE want me to update details
DrJack54 replied to DrJack54's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Your right. Just thought I would try forum on off chance some Oz person has had same email.. I mean here is my last transfer. Seems to be money into my Wise Wallet then instantly to my Thai bank. Just when you think you have it sorted something else pops up. -
I always select long stay option. As I wrote...Instant.

WISE want me to update details
DrJack54 replied to DrJack54's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
This part..... "Next time you send us money for a AUD transfer, make sure to use our new account".... Not long ago Wise was not happy with AU transfers. We were made to create a "Wallet" You were given an individual account number to transfer to Wise wallet. Obviously I had to add new payee to my Westpac app. All good. Worked fine. Have done few transfers using Wallet. Then today I get the posted message. -

To change from extensions using money in bank to using monthly transfers is a pain for those with embassies that do not provide "income letter" eg UK, USA, AU being 3. You need to run both methods in concert. I'm my situation I'm currently doing the monthly transfers PLUS also satisfying the money in bank option. Next extension (Nov) I will show compliance with funds in bank and 12+ monthly transfers from abroad. Then following year just do the monthly transfers. From then on as mentioned my "immigration bank account" will have small balance. On 14 of every month I do the transfer using WISE app from my Oz bank account app. The transfer is instant and lands in my Kasikorn bank account. I say to my Thai partner ..."money come" She goes to ATM (Kasikorn in our condo building) and transfers the funds into her account. Any non immigration matters eg purchase of car/real estate/medical etc is done in same way. BTW: not married..

This topic comes up more commonly for extensions retirement as funds required in bank all year round. For Marriage the funds only in bank for couple of months. One suggestion is to use income method. As one example...I transfer 120k baht every month (extension retirement) Instantly when funds hit my Kasikorn bank the money is transferred to my long term partners account. My immigration bank account basically has zero balance. I leave the stage then zero funds (chump change) left in my bank in my name only.

So background. Some time back WISE wanted AU customers to create what I call a wallet. They also created a new set of account details for this "wallet" So I created a new "payee" in my Westpac banking app. Finally sorted it out. So my steps were transfer to my Wise wallet from my Westpac a/c. The money lands instantly. The open Wise app and from the wallet transfer to my Kasikorn a/c. Easy..... Then just now I get this in my Gmail. In part it states " Next time you send us money for a AUD transfer, make sure to use our new account — you'll see the full details when you choose to pay by bank transfer. Thanks, The Wise team N

Guidance please on Non O application from UK
DrJack54 replied to Wyabcp's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
So you will be dealing with Bangkok immigration.. Up until recently they did not provide a COR without you having made a 90 day report. Fortunately that is no longer a requirement. You attend immigration and apply for the COR. Hopefully a TM30 will be sufficient. The COR is sent out via mail and takes approx 5 days. Cost 200b -

As I advised in pm. Tell bank that you are looking for somewhere to lease. Yes provide TM30. If unsuccessful ask bank if a "certificate of residence" is satisfactory. Where will you be located and opening bank account.. -

DrJack54 replied to Wyabcp's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
@Wyabcp I sent you a pm earlier. You posted that you have equivalent 800k Thai baht in UK bank account. Good plan. Enter Thailand with the Non O.. Then open Thai bank account. Suggest Kasikorn a good option. Transfer asap funds from UK account to Thai account. For 12 month extension you are not required to show funds came from abroad. Make sure you discuss with your UK bank regarding transfer. They may require OTP as outlined in my PM. Many folk use WISE. That's another topic. -

Current thread running here. Different situation however some general information. https://aseannow.com/topic/1348933-2025-pattaya-agent-retirement-extension-for-newbies/ Edit: @justsignedin Maneerat just informed me that you do not need to exit Thailand. I'm surprised. You can discuss with any agent directly -
Family to Retirement
DrJack54 replied to justsignedin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Financials for extensions based on marriage is low threshold. 400k for 2 months prior to application. If time is required to season the funds you could apply for 60 day extension to visit wife. If you really want to use agent at least living in Pattaya you have choice of many good agents. Often mentioned is Maneerat Soi 13/2. Best option is to discuss directly with them.. You have Non O status and they will advise you if they can obtain 12 month extension based on retirement OR as mentioned in first post require you to start afresh. -

DrJack54 replied to justsignedin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Where are you located. Why change. An agent may suggest exit Thailand to kill off Non O and reenter visa exempt. For agent to obtain new non O + 12 month extension retirement is approx 23k. Ongoing extensions 13-18k depending on location.
