  1. Trump also believed he was free to grab women by the pussy, how's that working out?
  2. One would need a cation exchange column for heavy metals as cations, and an anion exchange column for heavy metal anions, e,g, hexavalent chromium. I suspect your XXX filter had an activated carbon component. By themselves, physical filters do not remove chlorine and chloramines.
  3. IIRC the upper limit for TDS in drinking water for human consumption is 500 ppm. Nothing strange about your before and after meter readings. Filters remove suspended solids. Dissolved solids go through. Your lack of variation is simply saying the input water has negligible suspended solids.
  4. Agree boiling does not remove heavy metals. It's moot whether lead is present in any quantity of concern. Ion exchange or RO would be needed. If one is not fussy about having iron in their water, steel wool does quite a good job in taking heavy metals out. Most plants treating tap water for domestic consumption employ floc clarification to knock out suspended solids, said process precipitates out the heavy metals as well.
  5. Just boil the water that comes out of the tap. Boiling steam distills chlorine and chloramines. It kills bacteria ,viruses and parasites such as giardia. Two problems with bottled water. First, some of the lesser known brands could well be water straight out of a tap. Second is most bottled water is in plastic, with plasticizers leaching out of the container. Some plasticizers mimic oestrogen, a female hormone. I get my water from a well in the village, Tastes good after it is boiled. I am always amused by people who have elaborate and expensive filtration systems.
  6. It baffles me how Thais can drive without a helmet, and not have an insect colliding with their eyes. Suddenly going blind in one eye can't be good for balance. I have the visor down every time I ride, I am paranoid about something happening to my eyes.
  7. RU OK, BMT? You haven't posted since early Friday, hope there's no problems ( Apart from what you already have, I mean )
  8. You are smitten with the overweening conceit you have somehow evolved a grand theory of medicine, virology etc. without doing any hard yards in terms of training and experience in those fields. It's like a primary school student stating e=mc2 is false. The history of COVID gives the lie to your rubbish, the delta version was probably the most virulent.
  9. I don't know how it is possible to say virtually all modern illnesses can be avoided, when there is overwhelming evidence many are predetermined by genetic inheritance. Statistically, if one's family has a history of colon cancer, the probability is much higher that person will experience it too. Ditto for diabetes, stroke, etc. etc. The entire realm of health and medicine is being examined and changed as we speak, by professionals who have far more training and experience than you or me. About sixty years ago, all a radiographer had to work with was X'rays and ultrasounds. Now, they have MRI, PET and CAT scans to work with. The same thing is happening with cancer immunotherapies. Doctors must get sick of telling their patients to stop smoking and drinking, and lose weight. People regard themselves as an exception when they are told a smoker is 20 times more likely to die of lung cancer than a non-smoker. Alcohol has been listed as a Class 1 carcinogen for nearly 40 years. Obesity and diabetes go hand-in-hand. If it were not for modern medicine, I would not be writing this. Therefore, I have little respect for posters who want to throw out the baby with the bathwater. Fruitcakes.
  10. And you do? Tell me, what hard yards have you put in acquiring your medical qualifications, apart from trawling through social media for alternate facts to massage your confirmation bias?
  11. The history of viruses indicates they characteristically attenuate in virulence, and tend to increase in transmissibility.
  12. Baldness is caused by excess testosterone, it's the guys who have a full head of hair who should worry about getting it up.
  13. I would not say I had a hard or easy life, something in between. My parents taught me very early on if I wanted something, I had to earn it for myself. I bought my first bicycle with money I earned collecting scrap copper, aluminium, brass and lead from the local garbage tip. Impossible nowadays with regulations. I bought my first set of golf clubs with funds I saved from caddying. The caddie system in Australia died many years ago. My first car with employment as a trainee. My parents also taught me to avoid debt like the plague. I have never owned a credit card, except for a company-issued one. I only started to buy new stuff when I could afford it, even then it had to be something with a proven track record. No interest in being a lab rat for a gee-whiz item. I came from fairly humble beginnings. I was a gifted child, in some ways that was a curse early on because kids can be cruel. I've never been afraid of hard work and questioning the status quo. I don't need expensive possessions to impress friends, family and neighbors. When confronted with problems, I look for the options available to resolve them. Calvin Coolidge was right when he said nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.
  14. I guess there always has to be at least one sourpuss on a thread.
  15. I've never used a women's toilet. I suppose it's because I can read the signs at the entrances.
  16. Sad. Women are attracted to good looks, money, power, intelligence and charm. You must have had one of them in full measure.
  17. OP, FYI the term for males is handsome. Definitely not handsome or beautiful now. I was probably at my best-looking in my mid-twenties. I was on an aircraft heading for Melbourne. I had acquired a deep tan from sunbaking in the nude. I was also pretty fit from martial arts training, jiu-Jitsu. One of the hostesses on the plane tried to hit on me. Sadly, I had to inform her I was going back to Melbourne to get married. If I could have seen into the future, I would have gone with her, and <deleted> myself stupid.
  18. I am 80. IMO I look my age in terms of facial features. Bald as a badger. I sometimes get told by Thais they think I am in my sixties. That may be because I am in good shape, and move well for my age. It also may be because they are just being nice to me. Whatever, I acknowledge the compliment, but take it with a grain of salt.
  19. Because of the wailing and gnashing of teeth on ASEAN every time there is a booze ban. You'd have something to complain about if there was a ban on alcohol without notice.
  20. If people are determined to get wasted on a day when alcohol is banned, why don't they simply stock up on their favorite tipple one or two days before? Does alcohol kill so many brain cells they can't plan ahead?
  21. You may need an air-conditioning mechanic, rather than an auto mechanic.
  22. Most likely texting on his/her phone. In Australia, the fine would be 26,000 baht. If he does get caught, it may be worth adding to the charges. I hope you are recovering well.
  23. I am wondering if BMT was occupying one of the regular car lanes. On a big bike, most probably. I keep as far left as I can get, out of the way of vehicles bigger than me. I feel uncomfortable if I am in a regular lane, for fear of getting shunted as BMT did. That does not justify the behavior of the scum that hit him. However, my driving methods are about risk minimization, and constant threat assessment.
  24. An alternative hypothesis is, the girls he was with acted together to steal the money from him. On balance of probability far more likely, as Thai women usually reject Indian men on the basis of their dark skin. The most cash I have ever carried with me in a night zone is 2000 baht. Enough to buy a bar fine and some lady drinks. Anyone having 75,000 baht on their person is asking to get robbed.
