Does the inequality ever make you uncomfortable?
scorecard replied to RSD1's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Also, so many foreigners are blind to the inequality. One example: so many foreigners write about 'taxis are so cheap in Thailand'. The reality is that 99% of taxi passengers are Thai with very limited funds and taxi fares are way beyond their available budget. -
Are Thai teens more mature than West

"...and 18 year olds having children so I'd say yes." Being able to copulate (a very simple act) is not an indication of maturity. -
Are Thai teens more mature than West

I can share a direct comparison. For the last 20 years of my working life I lectured bachelor and masters degrees in business and in behavior in several Thai unis. Many classes had about 60% Thai students and 40% foreign international students most from EU, some from Asia, 2 from Sth America, several from Kenya. The EU students usually 90% German, 19 to 22 years old, male and female. The German students often asked excellent insightful questions and I often answered then turned the question into open discussion. This often revealed deep understanding by the German / EU students, also the students from China and Vietnam. 99% of the Thai students didn't even understand the question posed by the EU student let alone any further discussion (not a language barrier, all students had to prove they had advanced English comprehension and conversation skills to join the class). What was also obvious was that the Thai students couldn't guess what the discussion was all about, they were simple not mature enough.- 124 replies

What does 'overhaul' of the footpath mean? My guess is that it means lift up the cement blocks already laid on sand, smooth out the sand / add a bit more sand and then relay the cement blocks. Within a few months the blocks all uneven again. What a great achievement. -
There's apartment buildings in Bkk where the water throwing goes on, full steam / full blast / all day in the corridors of the apartment building.

The staff are human beings, employees with expectation and no doubt they were given promises. When the visa and work permit needs to be renewed, will they still be available? They may well have moved on geographically and in terms of employment / maybe better employment. And and will they trust you?

Delaying Cataract Surgery - Any associated dangers?

There's night driving eyeglass lenses that help to much reduce that glare. Suggested by OPSM (highly professional eye testing and glasses company all over Australia). It did strongly reduce the headlight / streetlight glare. Also makes TV picture much clearer. -

So perhaps try the 009 number. -
I bought a small steam based machine, worked quite nicely but I forgot to check one point before purchase 'Does it shut off automatically when the cup is full?' And the answer is NO, I have to watch and manually stop the process when my cup is near full.

Cut and paste from Centrelink website follows: "To call Centrelink from Thailand, you can use the international free call number 001 800 611 4136 or dial +61 3 6222 3455 (Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time). " Here's a more detailed breakdown: International Free Call Number: 001 800 611 4136 Alternative Number: +61 3 6222 3455 I've used the free call number above ( 001 800 611 4136) several times, always answered quickly. I seem to remember I changed the 001 to 009 to get out of Thailand. -

I can't answer your question. I've called several time when I've realized I needed an answer, always answered quickly an always received clear answer. Perhaps you should try again. -
Why is All the Hate Towards Russia and Not China?

"Chinese are followers not leaders". That's a big statement to make and I don't agree with your statement. Don't judge by comparison to trump or to America or to putin or to netanyahu. China has it's ways of analyzing / doing things and good for them. China doesn't have to fit your definitions. -
Bob might post photos of the peckers of his numerous ladyboys. I guess there's a market for that.

Australian Aged Pension

Just remembered an item which is often confused, the 2 year period starts from the day you re-entered Australia, NOT from the day you applied for the OAP, and NOT from the day it was approved. I guess you're aware that you can do trips abroad during the 2 years and unless the trips are very extended in time the accumulation of the 2 years is not interrupted by the time out of Oz. But note, after your OAP is approved your OAP payments stop for the period your outside of Oz but automatically recommence from the day you re-entered Oz. Sorry I'm repeating but don't hesitate to use the toll free number from Thailand. There's no limit on how many time you can call them or on total time of phone calls. -

Some points I can share some details , perhaps you know these items already: - You must be physically in Australia to get a CRN (Centrelink Reference Number), unless you already have one. - You must be physically in Australia the day you lodge your application for the OAP (Note: You can lodge your OAP application at a C'Link office (that's what I did and they were very thorough, helpful and polite. Or you can lodge your OPA application by email or by post, C.Link will check the always live immigration records to establish your location at the date / time you lodge the application). - At same CLink visit you can prove your identity: passport, birth certificate, Thai plastic drivers license with embedded photo and your full name in English, Plus one other plastic ID card with photo embedded. - I was very lucky, my OAP was approved 16 days after I lodged the OAP application at the local C'Link office. There's a toll free tel number from Thailand to C'Link in Australia. 0018006114136 or could be 0018006114136. I've used this number many times, always answered quickly, good listeners, clear focused answers every time. They don't bite but as always don't reveal more personal info than needed. Note that all calls to C'link are recorded and if needed they do go back to earlier calls if needed. Can I suggest, make a list of questions and give them a call to get clear answers direct from C.Link Good luck. -
Aware of all of that. My question is really whether there are limits on how many kms they will travel outside of Bkk? E.g. Phaya Thai to Chonburi City?

Can I book a trip from Phaya Thai Bangkok to Chonburi City? (Tried looking for telephone number but no luck.)
