  1. As a UK citizen I used the passport on mine after seeing it recommended here on Thaivisa as was and it was accepted OK, albeit a couple of years ago now. It is not referring to a residential address but the fact that you are legally permitted to reside in the UK, which a valid passport does. I don't know what a Malaysian passport holder would supply. They must surely have some documentation permitting them to stay?
  2. Mention your locality and you might get other (better?) options.
  3. Paper docs are fine. They re probably preferred as easier to locate and read than phone based ones. He'll also need booking confirmations for 2 hotel nights with PCR tests, insurance and PCR test before departure and I would present paper copies for them all if possible.
  4. Bangkok Bank New York would appear to skim $10 USD off before they send it to Bangkok Bank in Thailand. Even without that fee Wise would have been better using the figures from my comparison further up the thread. Another poster above has said he has seen smaller differences in the exchange rate, but at the time of writing they were as stated so best to check every time.
  5. Go to the Thailand Pass website and you will see it's open for Sandbox and Quarantine entries, but not Test and Go. It is planned to re-open for Test and Go with 2 hotel nights (and tests) on the 1st February.
  6. Just because you weren't asked to hand over printouts doesn't mean there was no check. It's all done via the PLF submission.
  7. Your numbers result in a cost for airport transport, PCR Test (and meals?) of 3,300 baht. Could you get them privately for less?
  8. That's a change then. My approval email from just over a month ago had no QR code but had a PDF attachment which was the receipt of notification slip for your passport with the next report date on it. What do you get if you scan the QR code?
  9. Here's a couple of lists: https://asq.in.th/ https://thaiest.com/blog/aq-hotel-1-night-packages
  10. Good point. In that case no-one can ever know if the bank will win so it should always be Wise unless you like a little gamble IMO.
  11. OK it's not even 7:00 am but I was doing not much else so have worked out some actuals for what's being discussed. Wise - 30K USD gives 997,632.91 THB Bangkok Bank using $30 USD as the originating bank fee and 500 baht as BBL fee. BBL Exchange rate from here: https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Other-Services/View-Rates/Foreign-Exchange-Rates ((30,000-30) x 33.19) - 500 = 994,204.30 THB This assumes no intermediate bank fees and Wise wins. Using the same arithmetic for 2,000,000 THB received (the max Wise will do) also gives a win for Wise. The only way I can see the Bank transfer winning is if you can negotiate something on the exchange rate, which has been reported, but even taking Bangkok Bank up to 33.3 still gives Wise the win at the lower level, although the Bank pips it at the 2,000,000 THB amount. I doubt if any leeway the bank may give on the exchange rate will be enough to make them win in either scenario, but it would need others to say what movement in rate might be achievable to be 100% sure. Let me know if you see anything wrong with the calculations. It is early here!
  12. The Thai person's certificate I have seen was in a mix of Thai and English. All pre-filled headings - Both Thai and English Name - Thai only ID - Arabic (English) numbers only Nationality - Both Thai and English Vac status - Both Thai and English Vac details - English numbers and language except hospital name in Thai. Seem to me the name being in Thai only may be a restriction, but one which could be fixed if you could find the right person to do it. The Mor Phrom International certificate may be different.
  13. Wise have a comparison section if you scroll down the homepage. For bringing in USD Moneygram usually shows the best deal, beating Wise itself. The same is not true for all currencies, as is the oft used comment that nobody provides mid-market exchange rate or better except Wise. Current screenshot of $5,000 USD transfer costs along with the details of Moneygram fees taken from Wise.com just now. ETA: I don't use them as I don't bring in USD so unaware if there are any pitfalls to watch out for.
  14. In practice the State Pension is not required (I got the visa without it), and they accept insurance for 30 days.
  15. You wouldn't need to spend 21 days in the UK if you travelled from Thailand. Test and Go is currently suspended but the 21 day rule meant you could only be in the listed countries or in Thailand in the 21 days before arrival.
  16. Test and Go has been put on hold, but Thailand Pass applications for Sandbox and Alternative Quarantine can still be made. OP requirements are for the Sandbox AIUI.
  17. I think you mean the Mor Phrom app, not Mor Chana? The International Vac Certificate QR code obtained in Mor Phrom will not be read by European checkers. However, it contains a link to your records on the MoPH website which should be enough for airlines. It won't get you into restaurants etc where they use an app to verify status.
  18. Could be this place. Beach Road/Pattaya Klang area: https://the-beach-house-pattaya.com/
  19. If you referring to travel to Thailand then is wrong, and so is Probably better not to take travel advice from health personnel. Travel personnel would more likely say this:
  20. Neither had I but repeating the dummy bookings today gives the following which seems to confirm it. First under 50,000 baht arriving in seconds. Then over 50,000 baht arriving tomorrow. I won't be needing to transfer again until next month so need other users to chime in if they get similar results to those indicated by the dummy bookings.
  21. As I say, I was hungover, but pretty sure I didn't hence my surprise. I had a look at the receipt but it doesn't mention the reason given. I wondered if it's to do with the > 50,000 baht limit and a dummy booking just now seems to confirm it. Below 50,000 will arrive "in seconds" above will arrive tomorrow, with the reason monthly living expenses in both cases. The new rule about transfers must force them to use the same transfer bank as the recipient bank or something similar. I hope someone else can prove or otherwise my thought process.
  22. It arrived at 2:00pm and was marked as an International Transfer. Now did I select a different reason that would force that route and marking? Perhaps as I was hungover but pretty sure not. As you say, lets see if others report similar.
