  1. The 3-day scheme is for Thais entering Laos without a passport. They need to obtain border pass at a government office in Nong Kai before entering Laos. It's not really relevant for your situation, but worth clarifying. Unfortunately I don't know what the situation is for a Thai entering with a Thai passport, which would be much more helpful for you. I remember going with my girlfriend (at the time) a few years back, and I don't think she needed any kind of visa, but I could easily be mistaken.
  2. The usual reason people on this forum need a VPN is to circumvent geo-location restrictions when attempting to access particular media streaming services.
  3. I don't want to be pedantic, but in all the scenarios you have described people being thorough, not pedantic.
  4. Indeed. Humans are far more difficult to corrupt than machines....
  5. How do you mean "created"? If you used a bootable live/installer image from the Mint website then it should work just as-is on other machines. If you did a full install, then cloned the OS disk into a bootable image, then it will be more tailored to your system, driver wise. It'll probably still work on another machine but there may possibly be some odd quirks. That being said, with online updates being the way they are now, even an image of an installed OS will probably work just fine with no major issues. (edit) re-reading the question it seems that you have installed the OS and want to use it as a system you can boot from various computers and continue to have everything working. While you may see success with this approach, you would be better off creating an installation in a virtual machine using VMWare Player or Virtual Box. This was you can run it on any computer without having to worry about hardware drivers or any other kind of conflicts.
  6. No, indeed they are not "just mere theories"; they are a specific subset of theories. The rule that a theory is nothing more than a theory until there's credible evidence to back it up still holds true, regardless.
  7. Maybe the woman at Phuket was carrying sub-par product? ????
  8. Until they're proven then, yes, they are just theories. That's the dictionary definition of the word!
  9. I don't know if this is common practice in the industry, but my VPN provider (not Nord) offered me 2 months for free when I tried to cancel. They also then followed up and asked me how much I'd be willing to pay for a year of use. I gave a figure of around 1500bt, and the next day I got an email saying that they were able to offer me a year of service for about 1200bt. I don't know if they did that based on the fact that I hardly use the service, or they just always offer every customer a price a little lower than the customer specifies. If they're still doing the same thing this year I'll try offering 500bt! Anyway, it's worth a try cancelling with Nord, and see if they have a similar practice. You can always sign up again if they don't take the bait.
  10. People who only view this site via mobile will never see the signatures, so it's kind of understandable that people won't know what the OP is referring to considering the wording.
  11. If you don't leave and re-enter the country for a full year then yes, you have to do an extension at the immigration office.
  12. I did it when I was younger. All part of the adventure. The only "major" issue was on my very first visit, not knowing what to put as the address on the arrival card. The immigration officer was less than impressed when I tried to tell him that my plan was just to wander around and try and find somewhere to stay ????.
  13. Criminals having guns is not the issue trying to be solved by gun control proposals.
  14. You are allowed 2 visa exempt entities by air each calendar year. There's no limit to the amount of extensions you can get in any one year; if you manage to enter 5 times visa exempt, then each time you enter you can extend for an additional 30 days.
  15. Most people generally trust their compatriots; that's human nature. I agree, there would be huge shifts in society if that norm was to be broken, in any country. Good luck in your quest.
  16. What an abstract motion... If what "things changed" from "Thai people are all good people", exactly? Who made this thing about all Thais being good people? And who's responsible for getting the thing changed? There's plenty on this forum who already believe that "you cannot trust Thais" anyway... The truth is, of course, somewhere down the middle. Just like in pretty much every aspect of life, and in every country across the world.
  17. My understanding is that you cannot file a 90 day report online if the due date has already passed. My information may be out of date so maybe somebody can confirm or refute this.
  18. The government can do whatever they like with tax income. If you ask me it's better for a government to give 10,000bt indiscriminately to everyone, than just giving a load of tax breaks to the rich while continuing to **** the poor.
  19. Okay that's one half of the equation. How does that compare to the total amount of tax collected by the treasury each year?
  20. That's the point of having taxes, yes. I haven't done the maths but my gut feeling is yes, Thailand can easily afford it.
  21. No I haven't and no I won't. I have no interest in the app. I was responding, pure and simple, to the claim that "this [blocking access to the app based on other apps that are installed] should tell you that they look at everything on your phone". Which is logically flawed. If you had said something along the lines of "that doesn't surprise me; look at the list of permissions they ask for. That should warn you that they look at everything on your phone" it would have had at least some kind of logic behind it. But that's not what you said.
  22. You're a teacher, that makes your money from using the software. You need features that are only available in Pro. Why don't you just pay the relatively small monthly fee for the product rather than look for a bunch of work arounds that will cause you a bunch of headaches and stress?
  23. I know what fingerprinting is, thank you. However the claim was that "This [the fact that an app is blocking access based on another app being installed] should tell you that the app is looking at everything on your phone" It doesn't. The only thing we can conclude from this isolated incident is that they are checking against a blacklist of applications. We can conclude nothing more from it in isolation. Nothing. You're free to speculate, and say something like "this could suggest that...", but stating it as a fact is like seeing the sun in the morning and concluding that it's not going to rain all week. Also, fingerprinting isn't even close to "looking qt everything on your phone"
  24. Phishing is a universal concept and applies to all payment methods.
