What is needed to renew two year drivers license at Pranburi
KhunLA replied to kiwikeith's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
go to DLT site, and everything you need is listed there. Proof of address, not necessary to have CoR, as yellow book is accepted. Need to watch vid, or at least, sit in the room. The usual eye, color blind, depth perception & reaction test. Need to do the exam on the DLT site, then follow instructions. -
@Conan The Barbarian If really enjoy the culture, then just about anywhere. Though personally, I would settle somewhere well below Hua Hin, as even there or further north, you'll need to deal with 4-6 months of unhealthy smog, every year. Chumphon or below. If wanting decent swimming beach, 'when cooperation, then maybe Ban Krut, Prachuap Khiri Khan province. But we're talking really rural area. Lovely and almost settled there ourselves. Any of the provinces, Chumphon or below would suit use, away from the few touristy spots. How hot ... DAMN HOT, so consider that, but decent Gulf surf, sometimes, and the Andaman is lovely all year, though not so safe to swim in half the year. Southern landscape is lovely, especially the limestone karsts. Out of the tourist areas, less and less English spoken, except by the youngins, along with less western shopping options, unless in metro area, and only a few of those. Central Plaza are popping up in most provinces now, or at least a Robinson's, Tops and or Makro.

White Temple Offers Flood Victims Free Vehicle Parking in Chiang Rai
KhunLA replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Rai News
Huge tourist wat. Actually quite nice, as we popped in, and besides us, just a few tourist there. No entrance fee, and no issue parking 'then', free, and some decent food vendors around it, at the time. Drove by couple years later and yikes ... really crowded. -
I stopped buying their wings zap & zinger burger, as not the best value, and hit & miss of late. Tasty when spot on, but past few times, regretted afterwards. Street vendors (wings & burger) or 7-11 (pork burger vs zinger) are as good or better, and better values.

Statins: A Vital Consideration for Those Over 70, Study Suggests
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Yikes ... had a few issues along the way. Might want to reconsider that oatmeal brekkie. I used to do a daily; corn flakes, oats, raisins & blueberries bowl of cereal in the morning. Swapped that out for 2 eggs instead now, and feel much better. Along with a bunch of other carbs & sugars, so can't say which, if any or all made the difference. Numbers are good, and I cut the statin out. One thing for sure, oat suck up the moisture in the digestive system, and as soon as I stopped eating, no constipation afterwards. Worth cutting out the oat just for that. -
good point, i'm bored, but someone did state, sad people won't waste 40 mins to watch, so guess I was replying to that though. But yes, waste a minute to type, now 2 mins Oh well, off the Hua HIn, and I could be half way there by the time that vid was over. Time management is important for us seasoned folks.

Have to admit I stopped at just over 1 min. As that seemed to focus on WW3, which simply isn't going to happen. At least to the point I would concern myself. A conventional war would take years to plan, and a nuke war, well, no sense in worrying about that. Either won't happen, or the alternative. Nothing I can do, either way. Like they stated deep state might not allow Trump to be president, and something about big pharma's control. But no, not wasting 40 minutes, (that I can't get back) to listen to the same ol', whether I agree or disagree with them. Been around for shy of 70 years, and got a pretty good idea how the world works. Why I ignore most things, and just enjoy life. UP2U

New shock over Prior Velho car park fire By Natasha Donn - 11th September 2024 The Prior Velho car park conflagration, initially blamed on an electric vehicle catching fire; later blamed on a short-circuit in a combustible engine car, has now delivered a new ‘shock’: it was not licensed as a car park. Well over 150 vehicles were destroyed; insurers have been faced with a massive bill, and now it transpires that the owners of the car park were only licensed as a warehouse. Parking on the top floor (where the fire began) was prohibited, says Correio da Manhã. The full story is being aired tonight in an exposé by CMTV at 9.30pm. (source)

Shipping an E bike from UK to Thailand.
KhunLA replied to Asquith Production's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
As with everything, simply buy one with quality specs & components. That's why you purchased the one you did. Use the BkkBike link as a guide to specs & prices locally. 250w seems a bit under spec'd for me. Mine is 1000w, and probably over spec'd, and surely affects my range, as 500w with same battery would probably give me more range. As of yet, haven't needed more range. -

Many folks here use abbreviations quite often. PKK gets used a bit, especially by me. Along with CM, HH, BKK/KT. Especially if topic or someone talking about a certain region. ... north; CM, CR ... southern way; PKK, KS, KT, ST, NST, PP ... northeast; NK, UT, KK, Ubon, Udon, Korat

OK, point taken ... THANKS BUT ... didn't the biden/harris administration just do the same thing she is complaining about what trump tariffs will do. Basically just priced BEVs, batteries, and solar systems out of the consumer's grasp, as if they could afford them anyway. By new tariffs on better & affordable EV & components for both USA EVs & solar systems from China. Which are already silly priced. Keeping utility cost high for all industries & transportation, basically increasing the consumer prices across the board. Remaining dependent on the already conglomerate monopolies that have windfall profits at the expense of consumers. Dependence on a failed, overpriced auto industry, utility companies & big oil's monopoly on transportation options. Using myself as an example, here in TH, we have a Chinese BEV and solar system at a reasonable price saves me 1000's of TBH / 100's of USD every month. Shame the Yanks don't have the same luxury of choice. So much for freedom or a 'free market'. Now even further away for Yank, Thanks biden / harris, well done

Guess it depends who you talk to. You apparent didn't understand, or more likely ignored what I stated. I didn't say anything about it being or not being an EV. But hey, you just make it up along the way. Whatever fits your spin My personal opinion, if the car can't go 60+ kms on the battery, any battery, then I wouldn't call it an EV. HEV, where the ICE keeps a battery charged just enough to power an electric motor, is all a bit silly to me. Not an EV in my opinion. Not even seeing the practicality of PHEV, unless you live some where's you can't charge on the road. The redundancy is silly, expensive, and prone to more break downs or maintenance issues.

Just read a couple summaries of the debate, and pretty much what I expected. Only surprise, first one, not really, Harris offering tax credit (vote buying), then a big surprise, suggests a 'national sales tax' What are you nuts, as that's not going to win any votes. More taxes ... not the way to go The rest went as expected, he says, she says, I did this, you did that. It's your fault, no it's your fault. Both, themselves, being their worst enemy. The lesser of two evils politics ... just sad. No winners here, and as always, USA citizens are the losers, in every sense of the word.

Shipping an E bike from UK to Thailand.
KhunLA replied to Asquith Production's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Can't help there. Wife's friend owns a freight forwarding company at Krung Thep. Good Luck. Curious, what V & size - Ah is the battery, and brand. Does it have a proprietary connector ? -

Could ship the battery separate, via air cargo. Might, probably will require a HAZMAT declaration & approval. Haven't a clue who would do that, though guessing any air freight agent near the airport could inform what's needed. Where are you located ? If Krung Thep, then I might be able to find out the info for you, I think. -
Two thoughts ... ... I can explain it to you, but I can't make you understand it ... if you had to ask ... nuff said
