  1. Not everyone has smartphones, as they found out during covid, as offices were being swarmed with 1000s of people at times.
  2. @clokwise Our whole house is on solar, water heaters & water pump. Both of those used sporadically, as the water comes out of the ground via PWA pretty warm by itself. Rarely full power, and they're only 3500w water heaters. And the water pump used more during rainy season, as we store rain water, 8 tanks, and need to use when full during the day. Topped up after rainy season, and unless PWA having water issues (drought), we really don't need to use. We did this year, but for only couple weeks, if that, as pressure was low just before rainy season. We do a lot of home cooking, baking, and two ACs; 13KBTU, on almost 24/7, and 24kBTU on 8hrs a day when hot. We're at Prachuap municipality area, so warm all year. Only time we need to be conservative, is like now, solid week of overcast & rain. But solar still produces enough to run the house & recharge batteries from overnight use. Chiang Mai, and half the year, you may not even use the ACs. Just a few air purifiers, and they don't use much. Unless have large family, a bunch of ACs, you should be able to be just about be off grid with 10kW inverter. Really don't see the point of a back up box if using solar as priority 1, then battery as 2, grid as last resort. If using grid and power goes out, and your battery just happens to be lower than you want, just don't turn stuff on. Frigs & fans would be our bare necessities, and don't use much at all. We're connected to the grid, at 26 baht a month, but rarely use. Just over 2 years with solar & digital meter, and the meter is at 969 units/kWh. We've used that many kWh in one month of solar. Most of that 75% was used by the EV (car), after O&A (Our & About) away from house, as I like returning near 20%. PEA is 4 baht/kWh vs 7.5 baht/kWh at CS (Charging Stations). So if using the car the next day, need to use grid to charge up.
  3. EVs get charge with solar ... BUT ... 2.3kWh is the largest drain. That's using the MG granny/emergency charging cord. The MG wall charger is 7.4kWh, so that is connected to the grid, and actually the only thing on the grid, that is used. That is rarely used, as simply not needed. Solar has plenty of excess produced that the house doesn't use. EVs are MG ZS, DECO SUSU (MC), and a DIY ebike.
  4. Or in the future, when you have high cholesterol, and you want to order the Whopper with bacon & cheese, and you're told that purchase can't be approved, since the last med check up has your LDL & Trigs out of normal range ... It's coming, and maybe in our lifetime, well, in USA & EU/UK/AU/CA, not in TH, we be 3rd world still 👍
  5. People do have to think for themselves. Also have to interpret the meaning of what's said, Example, 'stand against the election results" ... doesn't mean illegal entry into Congress and try to stop it. Also decide whether to take any advise from anyone, politician, doc, agency. Example, 'safe & effective', and best to be informed, so not to be one to listen to them and die following their advice. I listen to, and research everything, politicians, to judge how the country might go, for investing. Business folks, for same, inverting. Doc & med officials, for good health, but also, for all 3 examples, due diligence, and do my own research. One thing I've learned ... TRUST NOBODY or ANY GOVT or AGENCY. Uncommon common sense learned if you were born in the 50s and grew up in the 60s & 70s. Fool me once ... fool me twice is on me.
  6. Unless the sun is not out, very overcast/raining, 10kW inverter w/14kWh battery (if reading right) should keep the house going with no problem. Depending how long you need it for, ease up in the AC use. If that overcast and or raining, consider you won't really be needing the ACs. We have 8kW inverter w/20kWh of battery, and we use about 8kWh overnight (14 hours), that's only using one 13BTU AC in the bedroom, 2 frigs (sm/med), 65" TV as monitor to my laptop, and wife is on her laptop. Our usage can range from <15-50kWh a day (24 hr period) depending on sun, how little or abusive with ACs, & charging the EVs. <15kWh a day (24 hrs) on our very conservative use days. We've been basically off grid for 2 years now. Most produced/consumed ~50kWh.
  7. Thank Buddha nobody else has ever lied in politics or from their gov't positions. Good thing Trump is the only one WMD I did not have sexual relations with that women I'm not a crook safe & effective If you like you doctor you can keep you doctor read my lips, I will not raise taxes etc etc etc
  8. And yet the 'founder' and contributors to the Constitution were all out spoken and basically criminals for speaking their mind. Go figure. You apparently haven't a clue what 'Freedom of Speech' means to free thinking people. Maybe this will help you understand. Read it very slow, and let it sink in ... ... “I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to your death my right to say it" ... Patrick Henry, one of those outspoken criminals from the Revolution. Probably pinch most of it from Voltaire, as credited with partial part of quote.
  9. PRAISE BUDDHA ... I'm printing that off on adhesive paper and attaching it to the toilet. What next ... trading in that 18 yr ol' dinosaur polluter and getting an MG4 or Seal performance model
  10. Who the hell needs 1000 kms range on any vehicle. Very few ICEVs can manage that, unless having an auxiliary fuel tank. On Thai roads, IF you could average 80 kph, that would be 12+ hours. After 3hrs, I'm ready for a stop, stretch, P & a munch. As is the dog & wife, and we don't even have kids, wanting to stop every hour. TBH, lucky to make 3 hrs without the wife or dog wanting to stop. So simply top up while there. No different than having an ICEV. Well, I'll tell you .... I'm never buying another car, until they come with a chauffer, catered w/full bar.
  11. When referencing fires, if not distinguishing between PHEV (very high #s) & BEV (rare), then it would be deceptive if simply taking the total. They should also distinguish between ICEV fires, those reported stolen, vs simply parked by the owner or being driven at the time. Many, (all probably) insurance claims of stolen auto that end in a fire, are probably purposely set. Not fair to be lumped in with stats of auto fires.
  12. So much for freedom of speech. Not to surprising from someone from OZ. I'd explain the 2nd sentence, but would be reported as off topic & deleted.
  13. Really ... and who would that be. If you can do all your local driving, and exploring on the battery of a PHEV, I'd consider that an EV. If I had one, unless going O&A, non locally, I'd never need the ICE part, as everything needed is within 5 kms of house, and a radius of 35-50 kms would meet any thing else wanted. And I live in Nakhon Nowhere compared to urban living. Not so sure I'd consider the HEVs an EV, with their 1-3kWh battery. EVs in TH ... TH not even on you graph .. 🙄
  14. What other documents do they require ? If you remember or jotted down. TIA I guess it makes sense, if you passed the written test already, doesn't make sense to take it again.
  15. 2.5 yrs later, and this is what you came back with, even after it's pointed out, all of what you state is wrong, especially in reference to Thailand. ... actually same price or cheaper for better specs ... very low maintenance cost ... LFP battery will last longer than the car ... plenty of CSs in TH. Most people charge at home, and don't go O&A that much to be concerned. Been around the whole country, a few times, with our BEV, never a problem charging. Experience over hearsay ...
  16. As I stated, they fluctuate ... I'll wait till YOY #s in Jan 2024. Especially since 2023 was a big year for sales. Now with price cuts, people are being a bit slower buying. If the numbers only increase a bit, or stay level, that's stating a lot, especially since ICEV #s are dropping & losing market share. ... I think, again, talk to me in Jan 2025 Legacy auto makers slowing production, even closing and or consolidating factories.
  17. Simply reacting to your repetitive silly posts of (false) declining EV sales. Open your eyes, as I see more and more BEVs every day on the roads and in the parking lots, here in TH. When O&A, I'm not longer the only at the CSs any more. Take the blinders off. You really don't need stats to see the truth. Do numbers fluctuate month to month, with economics, yes, but YOY numbers, seem to be up every year. Proved numerous times, and simply ignored by you.
  18. Explaining the legal system is not defending anyone. The beauty of USA, innocent till proven guilty, with appeal process to make sure any conviction was legal. Only the final appeal decision matters, not the prosecution in the press
  19. Why ? EVs in TH ... feel free to add some substance to the topic at any time
  20. Why would Trump need a pardon, or even a commutation of sentence (jail) since not sentences for anything yet, and doubtful jail time will be in any sentence. If so, on indefinite appeal till it gets to the SCOTUS. Just another bash Trump thread ... If there was only a safe & effective vaccine for that syndrome
  21. Sooner or later you run out of other people's money. They need more countries that can afford to be taxes to death ... good luck with that.
  22. I just completed this quiz. My Score 80/100 My Time 245 seconds
  23. Well ... get you prostate checked, live longer. Although 75 is pass he expiration date for being born 1920. LSD ... fun times DISCLAIMER: not an endorsement to use, but, if mentally capable ... 😎
  24. Good luck with that, especially if a few years old, as they discontinue, change and upgrade things for a reason, to keep you buying new. Been there, done that, and don't buy proprietary things for a reason any more. When I do buy something, I buy extra batteries, from the maker, just for that reason. Had to retire too many electronics in the past, because of batteries unavailable. And buying clone batteries can be a challenge to find, and quality substandard. Why I suggested earlier, if he keeps and ships it over, get another battery while at it, as you won't find it in Thailand when needed. If the maker discontinued the line, then sell it, and buy all new here/TH.
