Yes, he deserved death ... 😎

Funny that doesn't work in the house like that. After I fall asleep, it's still 30-35C outside. Turn the AC off, and I'll be sweating in 30 minutes. The house isn't a small space that heats up fast, like a vehicle, and insulated much better than any vehicle, with 3+ meter ceilings. You guys a crack up with all your BS.
-
You're a funny guy, or extremely ignorant. Have you ever researched them, and priced one that would actually run an AC or heater overnight ? Example, EcoFlow Delta Pro (3600) @ ฿100k, will run ... ... 5k BTU AC for about 7 hrs (at home we use 14 hrs worth) ... a portable heater for 4 hrs ...

Reading comprehension, or are you simply ignoring the obvious he already stated ? Like myself and many others that have solar. The system is enough, hopefully for the house. Mine is barely enough, and only because we are conservative with electric use after sunset. Actually could use another 5kWh inverter and 10 more kWh of ESS, to really be enough. But during the day, more than enough excess to keep the EVs charged up. Which makes ROI even faster. Not that ROI is important to myself, I just prefer the independence, and the saving is just a really nice plus. Our solar system would cost exactly the same, whether having EVs or not. Something that goes way over the anti EV/CH/Solar folks. Spew the same old false narrative. Tiring actually.

Well, I did start the thread. And you're not far behind

Seriously, a 3 yr old pick up. Why not show listing for a plane or a boat ? Why do you bother embarrassing yourself. This is how my post count is so high, as someone pointed out the other day. Most like the last 10 ish, wasted on BS replies to silliness. EDIT: check that, 12 added posts on this thread since the so easy to understand original one was posted. Mind boggling silliness, some extreme. No matter what y'all pick in the 700k range, the BEV will save you 250-300k over 8 years. If not much more, depending on the price or petrol. Why I don't even bother with these threads any more.
-
Not everyone wants or needs a pick up, especially an inexpensive one. Apples & oranges again ... distraction. Pretty sure the petrol savings will be in the same ballpark +/- 10 or 20%, 250k vs 300k

I wish ... and yea, I was actually looking at EBs, or even kayak, and they even have E-SUP/surfboards. Since living surfside ish. All silly priced and need to be imported. Then I'd be buying fishing rods, and prepping for the apocalypses

And what 700k baht family passenger uses diesel ? Quick google, and apparent none ... https://www.carwow.co.uk/economical-cars/diesel#gref

2.8L, not so sure about that. I'm very sure about I would never want one. Something I would never own, a diesel. Way before BEVs. That's just one disgusting & harmful fuel. Yet to be in any diesel vehicle that I thought wasn't a POS, noisy, vibrates, and smells if nearby when running.

Only thing that lurks in my mind, is how easy it was to pass that ICEV driving way too slow, and damn, got more money in the back .... again. No longer have to pop into the petrol station every week for 10 mins or so X 52 weeks. No longer wait for the oil change every 10k kms. Most important, get to explore locally within 125 away from house, and doesn't cost anything. Gets me out of the house, a lot. Get to check out the coffee shop, and it didn't cost more to get there & back than the coffee & Danish. Pop up to Hua Hin for the day, 200+ kms, and it didn't cost 500 baht = free lunch 👍 And I didn't have to worry about the increased risk of car fire, since less likely with BEV, especially with LFP chemistry than petrol crap.

go away ... nobody cars what you spew any more. Shouldn't you be fishing someplace else. Nobody biting here.

Apple & oranges, we're talking 700k passenger cars. Really, 2.8L diesel And buy in cost ??? Take the extra buy in cost of the 2.8L, install solar at the house, and not only save the 12.8k for the BEV, probably another 40-60k a year off PEA bill. So now 50-70k X 8 yrs That's why I kept it simple ... but hey, I like your distraction, get to save more money.
-
And every ICEV that I owned in TH, recommended 10k kms for oil change. Maintenance aside (we know which cost more), I stuck with only electric & petrol. You can distract all you want. As everything else, is in ADDITION to just the fuel. Kind of supports my side of the discussion. Feel free to subtract 10-20-30% of maintenance cost ot any number, it's still adds to the 300k. Nobody know what EVs or ICEVs are going to be worth in 8 yrs. And with a 300k head start, don't think the BEV owner is going to be disappointed. Gets to drive a better performing vehicle in those 8 yrs. In 8 yrs, nobody may even want ICEVs, except collectors ... How many countries plan on stopping or restricting the sale of ICEVs in 2030/2035 ?
-
I never had spark plugs last 160k kms, especially originals with the car. Coolant, belts, timing belt if having, hoses. All those things electric motors don't have. Along with 1000+ other parts. Just sticking to energy/fuel, and hard to argue, you won't save about 300k over 8 years. I can think of a few things to spend 300k on, instead of giving it to PTT or vendor of your chcoice. YMMV of course. Didn't mention solar, or fluctuation in petrol prices, usually up in turbulent times, which seem never ending now.

Actually I spit ball, MG4 is ~฿700k, as are few BYDs. So pick your 1.5L Toyota w/AT or whatever, and should be in the same ฿700k ball park. Today's prices and not really on sale. No need to mention performance, as we all know that answer. And used the usual, almost standard 50kWh battery for 360 kms per charge & ฿5/kW, and petrol, 14 kpL @ ฿36. Yearly cost for 20k local kms driven. Just petrol & charging cost, not the 15 oil changes or 3 or so full tune ups the ICEV will need.

When it hits the fan Who you going to call ? Not GhostBusters or ICEV owners "Electric vehicles can charge to the rescue in blackouts" paraphrased from link; "Emergency reserves are contracted by the electricity market operator from operators of generators such as big batteries and gas plants, so instantaneous power can be jolted into the grid in case of a power line collapse or other emergency. “To put that in perspective,” Sturmberg said, “105,000 vehicles responding in this way would fully cover the back-up required for the whole of ACT and NSW”. He said vehicle-to-grid technology would not only provide the grid with an extra power supply, it could also be used to cut demand when power supplies were running low."

because we can ... 😎

From your silly link ... "About 30 seconds later – as the car reaches speeds in excess of 200km/h" So, if I drive the speed limit, if possible, say 90 kph on most highways in TH, do you think I'll be OK ???????? Only asking as you seem to be an BEV expert with lots of experience ...

@BananaBandit, instead of asking a bunch of strangers on a forum, may be some Yanks, or not, you might want to actually read the TAX LAW & TH / USA DTA (Dual Tax Agreement). Both have been posted and or links to, more than a couple times on this forum. Nobody here knows your status, income you'll be remitting, or tax bracket any of that taxable income may fall under, IF ANY.

For those needing a visual aid ... BEV & ICEV buyer start out with same bank balance, used to buy in & to energize / fuel vehicles for 8 years @฿5 / kWh (PEA) and ฿36 / L (PTT) respectfully. UP2 U
