  1. From S03 started ... (trailer)
  2. As Sheryl ask, a bit more info would help. But if at rest, that's a bit high, and lower # is usually a bit more important. Is 135/88 he lowest it ever is ? When active, yes, of course the upper # will increase, though lower shouldn't go up too crazy. Are you on med ? Statin only lowers your cholesterol, and a bit of controversy if that really matters as much. If blood vessels are getting a bit restricted flow, blood thinner (aspirin) and or Calcium channel blockers (CCB), doing the obvious, keep calcium from build up, along with some flexibility and dilate the blood vessels, as they stiffen with age. I take both; aspirin & Manidipine. Vasodilators also dilate the blood vessels. Not familiar with them myself. Maybe go to a cardiologist, as the person to ask. At 70+, a check up would never hurt. We're not Docs and just speculating.
  3. That was part of my stack, and of course they accept. Didn't imply that they wouldn't. I was just thinking 1 govt issued statement proving the income, would be a whole lot easier, all the way around for all. Understand them not accepting the 'income statement' from US Embassy, since embassy staff to lazy to push a couple keystrokes to verify your info. But happy to take your $50 bucks for doing nothing. So glad TH Imm no longer accepts them, as I save $50.
  4. Cross country E-MC ... owner wasn't around so couldn't ask her what make/model. Definitely not DECO, as way better spec'd. At Bangchak / PEA CS ...
  5. That's why for the best, accurate & up to date info, you should go the the Imm office you are going to use, and ask them. Not rely on 'important' info to come from strangers on a forum, who may or may not know what "that Imm office" requires or allows. If any Yanks that use the Hua Hin are wondering, if they will accept your Soc Sec statement of COLA & monthly income ... that would be NO. As asked the other day while there. I got my 15 pieces of paper stack from my bank, & my govt issued SS statement, all of 1 page ... hmm, can't hurt to ask. Oh well. Why make the process simple and 300 baht cheaper, as that's asking way too much
  6. Yes used to have, use for emergencies, IF, they popped up. Luckily none did. As wasn't into saving for emergencies when a youngin', as money not working for you is useless. Investing or emergencies, at worst, paid off ASAP, 6 months or less. If you can't afford to pay cash, you probably can't afford to buy it yet. Borrowing money to buy depreciating products probably means you don't have savings and living month to month to begin with. Not a good place to be, as once in that hole, hard to see daylight.
  7. I never warmed up to the place. Been there more than a few times, same with Jomtien & north of Patts. Unless frequenting bars, pretty boring place, and surf sucks. Taking a boat to a beach, from a beach, which many suggest, never made sense me. Main reason, just too many people & the congestion. Crime always seem to be in the news, but I've lived in supposedly high crime areas before, and never an issue. Nicest thing there was CarreFour when it just opened ... Now having the worlds largest 7-11 ... Amazing Thailand I can think of a lot of worst places to live, like all of the NE & N during smog season
  8. I'm a rainy season fan. Everything is green, fresh clean air, great vistas, no air pollution. Overcast, no or less brutal heat days. An occasional light show with boomers, what's not to love. Added plus, O&A are cheaper, supply & demand dictates, along with less tourist & congestion. Win win all around.
  9. I only borrowed money for things that appreciated. Only bought 1 new truck (work) on loan, and the interest was less than inflation. Had a bunch of CC & lines of credit, and used for investing or paid off before incurring interest. Some carried the loan interest, short lived, till asset was sold. Houses were paid off by tenants, and decades early. Hindsight, spent way too much money dining out, but that was my only true vice. Hookers might have been cheaper, but not as entertaining. Aside from that, practical & thrifty, with one purpose....RETIRE EARLY 😁
  10. Also cut way back, almost stopped. When I do eat, I notice the negative aspect of it. Carbs/starch/sugar really are some empty calories. Not much benefit at all compared to fats & proteins, along with the green veggies.
  11. We use ~8kWh overnight, a 12 ish hour period, 1800-0600 hrs. And that's with the AC on the first 6 hrs, 65" TV & 2 laptops, in the bedroom and just the 2 frigs in the kitchen w/night light. Do the math Here's a typical overnight for us ... and must have had the munchies around 2030 hrs, along with coffee before 0600 that morning. 14Oct 2022 and we used 14kWh for that 24 hr period, Producing 17kWh. You get 3 kids jumping the shower, only 3.5kW X 3 ... on high, and a 10kw inverter might not handle that. I know solar or a BEV's V2L would have come in handy at Udon Thani, as outages were weekly in hot season. Grid couldn't handle the load, and roaming brown outs were the norm.
  12. A just OK Pastrami & Swiss ... fantasy better than reality, but still tasty. I really should make my own Pastrami
  13. Oprah, what a joke, and lost respect for her a long time ago. Mind boggling how much of a bigot she is ... IMHO They be playing the race & sex card hard
  14. Location dependent ... Udon Thani, easily 4 months (A. Muang). Many areas in North (CM) and Bangkok may start as early as Nov and last till the rains in May arrive. We get about 2 months down here at Muang PKK, and Hua Hin, easily 4 months. Not even October yet and many areas are registering 'moderate' AQI #s, meaning the PM2.5 #s are unhealthy
  15. I guess it depends what you consider the bar scene. A place that simply serves alcohol w/food, or also serves P4P. After living here, I've met a few lasses in bars, and never paid for their company. But they were Thai themed bars, clubs, not geared toward tourist/expat market or adult entertainment venues, where one would go specifically for P4P. A few gals I met in normal settings, not prowling the bars. At the markets, or service reps while going about everyday living, and no different than living and meeting like minded ladies in the USA. Obviously if living on P4P, need to be in tourist area, or larger metro, that has areas that cater to that market. Obvious choices, Bkk, Patts, Phuket. Udon Thani has an area for. Would guess CM and Hua Hin also have, though a bit low key. Khon Kaen probably still has. Though any area, Hua Hin and north of, you may have to deal with 4-6 months of very unhealthy air pollution.
  16. I use to take this Rosuvastatin from MediSafe (online), 30 tabs would last 2 months as 10mg a day for me.
  17. Exactly, and abortion, along with other social issues, fall on 'state' legislature to pass laws. Her opinion on abortion means nothing.
  18. Sadly, our Solar System has hit a milestone, with our digital meter, installed about 2 weeks after Solar was installed, and almost 25 months to the day, on the digital meter. It broke the 1000kWh mark ... That's the same, as a few of our one month Solar production & consumptions numbers. Took 25 months instead of 30 days. So not quite 'off grid' ... average 40kWh a month, for ~฿130 a month. Damn overcast skies & owning a BEV car. Somedays, you just got to use the grid to charge the car. Like today, since overcast this week, haven't bothered. Then the bank calls and tells you that your visa extension paperwork is ready. Say what, only took 3 days instead of a week. Oh crap ... got to charge the car. And now, charging, as ran it down to 28%, going to Imm office about 250kms R/T. And plan on going O&A tomorrow 🙄 On the flip side, have produced 16+ MWh & consumed 15+ MWh. For a saving from PEA of ~฿64,000 without even considering the petrol savings of what it would cost for 17k kms worth of liters of 91 @ ฿36 (~฿43.7k) Guesstimate would be about 250kWh went to house/inverter, average 10kWh a month & 750+ going to the BEV (car), average 30kWh a month.
  19. She never open advocates for anything ... but 'she's always open and would welcome that discussion' ... her usual 'dodge the question' tactic. She so transparently empty of any policy, it's unbelievable.
  20. Finally ... about time ... ... Honey .... Already has a few 2.2kW outlets, up to 6.6kW output availability. Don't have to do much to run the 'camper conversion' that will be added to it ... Seats lay down flat ... I'm liking it 😁
  21. @johnnybangkok We used to use Camillian 👍👍
  22. I can relate ... as it can definitely get to you at times. And I'm a bit south, so feels like 40+C for a month, isn't strange at all. Even last work location in USA, would hit 38+/- for a month, and humid. Worked outside, and needed a shirt or 3 to stay dry, during the work shift. After a wave of flights, soaked w/sweat. But some folks simply complain a bit too much, and probably should have chose another spot to retire. I accepted it was the tropic, though a bit more than I actually thought would be. Down here / PKK, as Udon had half year on no brutal heat, even a bit nippy for month. Pros far outweigh the cons here / TH. I do the same here, as I did for a few months every year at Memphis USA, when not at work. AC house to AC car to AC vendor. Only plus with Memphis, they pretty much didn't have a winter. Bummer about no show. But living in PA, NJ, MI, WV and it was heated house to heated car to heated vendor At least there we had snow to play in. Spring & autumn always lovely, as it has been here this past week, and next week. Heavy overcast and don't even need the ACs overnight. Actually have to use the water heaters. Happy Relaxing ... in the shade with a breeze ... hopefully.
  23. Did my extension today (retirement), and in the office at ... 1337 ... 1348 ... 1st officer station open (11 mins in) ... 1406 ... my # is called ... 1418 ... done at station, now just waiting for receipt. So, IF, I had and agent, first officer open was 11 mins after arrive (not the officer that deals w/agents) But we'll be optimistic, and say we got next, and no other agents Q'd, as station #6 handles agents. Add the 12 mins, to the 11 mins, and it would have taken 23 mins, in the door, till done .... IF ... I had an agent. All things being equal, and 1st up at the station. 1337 -1418 = 41 mins, so the agent at best today, would have saved me 18 mins. And I'm going to pay at least 2500 baht for 'that service'. I DON'T THINK SO. Had a nice filling early dinner at BluPort Mall for 577 baht. Leaves 1923 baht that went towards a bit of shopping at Makro. I think I can pay myself 138 baht a minute, to read the internet, for 18 mins. You folks that have an all day affair at Imm ... yea, spring for the agent. Went to CW once years ago to get something done ... something simple (not extension), and it did take a good part of the day. So quite understandable, as I'm not the most patient person myself. Happy Processing
  24. Because they are idiots and somehow forgot they chose to live in the tropics.
