  1. Apparently they don't want or need criminal's money. It's easy enough to stay in TH a very long time. Simply follow the rules, especially @ 50+ yrs old. If they are violating the imm laws, what else are they doing ? Working, taking employment from locals who need it, or criminal activity to support themselves. We all seem to dislike criminal immigrants & tourist in our home country, but for seem reason, have compassion for them here ...
  2. dictatorship ... ... simply shows how extremely ignorant & bias MSM is. Thankfully presidents are appointed, and only for a 4 yr stretch at a time, limited to 2 terms. Imagine if voting actually meant anything. People would probably re-elect the same idiots every time, and the place would really be a mess, year after year ... oh wait ... they do ... som nam na
  3. As much as I bash the USA, it is a much better place than TH ... BUT ... it will cost you. And TBH, not really a value for $$$ thought. But if you have the funds. USA is better. IMHO If wanting to stay, I would have had to buy 5-10 more house to rent out, to keep up with the cost of living there. To live surfside & travel around the country a few months a year, is not cheap in the USA. A bargain here/TH
  4. Humans have got to be the most disgusting species. How many years has this 'undisclosed facility' been operation out in the open, with full knowledge of officials?
  5. Not a problem ... ... "5,000-square-foot underground shelter" = 464m² That's almost 4X the size of our present house.
  6. Best just to assume, nothing is private anymore.
  7. Best to simply call or pop in and ask (Thai person ask for you), unless someone chimes in that actually did one very recently.
  8. @Celsius I was curious, so I had to check, and it's funny reading old msgs. That was 14 May 2019. He bought the next day ish, @ $20 ish, rings a bell, and like me, holds till 100% ROI, so sold @ $40 probably. Hit 43 in 2 weeks, then dropped. Made $10k, so must of bought about $12k. $4k for the taxman 🤬 Conversation we had: Chart for that month:
  9. If the guard doesn't recognize us and wave us through, then I just say 'pai khlong won krup' and away we go. Not sure a tourist can get away with that. Was actually there today for lite munch & choco/sugar drink fix ... damn tasty. Saw a few Q'd up, signing in as we drove past. I don't think they question you much coming from the Khlong Won side, as I think they assume you're live local and don't really bother. Most tourist would be coming from the PKK side.
  10. I don't eat processed chocolate candy bars or whatever anymore, and just eat dark chocolate. Wife even got some pods a couple times and did her thing. What a difference ... heaven. But a lot of work, for small yield. Thankfully the pods were free. That would be the way to go, if finding pods cheap, and were a purist.
  11. It's all foreign to me, and regret not getting in way back when. A friend of mine did, and doing very well. It is a roller coaster ride though. He got in very early. I really haven't looked at anything in past 10 years. Funny, the crypo was flat for a while, and he asked me what I thought, and told him, I haven't a clue. Ask me to peak. I did at a few, and one looked decent, chart wise and reports/news, so I simply said take a peek. Damn if he didn't buy a bit. A month later told me, 'thanks, next visit is on my, made 10k with your recommendation' "Holy sh!t dude, I say take a peek, not buy" ... He gave me one of my best trades, % wise. Inside info and made a 1000+%er on a penny/pink sheet stock, on rumour, just before company got bought by another (NWA/DL). Just before the sale, they dropped the stock symbol, and anyone still holding, got screwed
  12. Our local swimmer's beach, well, not today 😎 11 kms from home If cruising the western Gulf beaches, then Hua Hin, Sam Roi Yot, Ao Manao, Ban Krut (all PKK province) & Thung Wua Laen (Chumphon) are all worth a peek. A few others between HH & SRY may interest, but don't do much for us.
  13. It's called nature, and at times, it's no kind. You want to live, then you kill & eat ... period. Shark, lion, croc eats man ... oh well. Man eat beef, pork, poultry, fish ... oh well. Fish eats fish, man eat fish, always something bigger. Without weapons, humans would not be top of the food chain.
  14. If you're asking, that's not a good sign. Good rule of thumb, pull up historical chart, and look at the hi/lo cycles, and buy on next low cycle. Though it takes a lot more research than just that.
  15. They have choices, they just prefer not to exercise them. 1000s of others make a different choice, coming from the same circumstances. Once confronted, they could have simply raised arms, white flag, whatever & surrendered, if news-blip is to be believed. 2M pills less on the streets, hopefully. And a news-blip to others, to rethink their career choices. win win
  16. I've driven all over TH, and personally, I think 99.9% of the roads are excellent. Pay attention when driving usually keeps you & vehicle damage free.
  17. Oh well, live by the sword, die by the sword. As stated earlier, deal in misery & death, and Karma has a way of catching up to you ... thankfully. Live & Die By Your Choices
  18. It would only depend if you are affected by it. Personally haven't given it much thought.
  19. Our favorite Gulf beach, and we pop down (<1 hr) couple times a month. Usually at Baan Jib for a nice green curry& roti, alone w/dessert, then pop over surfside, make sure it's still there. 2nd Gulf beach would be Thung Wua Laen, Chumphon, and about the only 2 I'd swim in. Not sure about TWL, as a bit more developed, not much, but more than when we visited regularly, yearly.
  20. Not really a fan of either, evaporated or condensed. Curious about the difference, so google substitute for: Condensed milk ... use 1.5 cup sugar with can of evaporated milk, heat, stir till sugar dissolves
  21. Mostly in house eating: Yank ... if there is such thing (Philly cheesesteaks, scrapple) Mexican Italian Thai, when I do, it's fusion, pasta vs rice Wife cooks Thai mostly, and does western quite well. When out of the house, usually Thai, Malay curries/massamans, and things we can't or won't do in house. Again, fusion version for me, if available (ex: drunken seafood noodle) instead of rice. Roti and or potato for carbs. Veggies, anything will do. Purposely get sweet & sour for the veggies, and a safe bet if not familiar with the vendor. Usually don't do deep fried anything, just chips or an occasional Cordon Bleu at the one local place. A good part of our outside munchies is pastries @ coffee shops probably too much, but I'm addicted.
  22. Yes, some insurers put many together to offer better plans with lower risks to the insurers and pass saving on to the businesses. Another part of ACA, not so small print, insurers can not take a loss ... nice. The only reason more are signing up for ACA, is a sign of the times. Since Medicaid is part of it, simply shows more can't afford private insurance. Along with Medicare show more people are simply retiring as the population ages. Neither has much to do, with ACA. Still benefits the insurers & big pharma, since written by their lobbyist. Remember .... "If you like you plan or doc, you can keep your plan or doc" ...
