I suspected that, but since not sure, made my suggestion. NO, didn't check, as don't care, that would be the OP's responsibility. Since he didn't have a real plan, if a flight did go near a beach, win win. Although considering 8-10 drive time, and a conx or direct flight certainly wouldn't be a turn off for myself. Though I do enjoy self driving & no time limits.

Probably why I stated "pick a non stop" ... ... but feel free to paraphrase me, if it fits your spin

Good choice, and I'd stay toward the southern end of the beach. Not a fan of downtown-ish, actually HH beach area. Maybe 1 night to check out the night market areas. Baht buses are convenient, as there is literally no parking at most of HH, unless at one of the malls/shopping centers.

What, if anything, would make you move back Home?
KhunLA replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
to the title ... ... dog, daughter & wife would have to die, for me to leave TH. As then no real reason to stay, though not sure I'd leave even then. Would take year or 3, after I liquidated to travel around a bit, USA and few other places; Cuba, Belize, Costa Rico, Puerto Rico, RU & CH. That would take a couple years. No real desire to live in the USA again, as did that for 45 yrs already, and most places don't get better with time -
Since just looking, I'd go to Phuket, as less expensive all around, since 'off' season. Or Hua Hin if not minding the 10 ish hours of driving time. If having the time, could split that with a night at Krung Thep, or abouts.

No, I don't do massages, free or paid, and don't do P4P, as simply don't need to. Paying for sex doesn't interest me at all, and takes away half the adventure, experience. Enjoying the company of a like minded person is much more enjoyable ... IMHO I guess P4P has it's place for many, and sampled myself 2X, and that was enough to realize, it's not really for me. Might have it's place for introverts, or on a short holiday and having the urge.

British mum’s dengue fever warning after son’s Thai holiday tragedy
KhunLA replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
If I was in Laos, or TH, and felt ill, munched on by mozzies, and felt the need to go to a doc or hospital, first thing I do is ask for a dengue test. That uncommon common sense. If treated early, most survive, especially if younger & healthy. -
Also retired at 45/46 yrs old, now 69, and if had say, about 5 happy massages a month (5.2 exactly), that would be knocking on 1500. Sad part would be if retired, living in TH, and actually had to P4P. Nothing I'd be bragging about

British mum’s dengue fever warning after son’s Thai holiday tragedy
KhunLA replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Sorry ... broken record ... again ... Research & common sense. Going to a foreign country, maybe one should research any travel warnings for said country Better research = happier, longer life. A little trivia ... most deadly animal on the planet... ... mosquitoes -
Myself, been around/with 10s of 1000s as I use to attend a lot of concerts.

How to retire in Thailand
KhunLA replied to CharlieH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Big if ... why I stated 'most'. You're the first that has mentioned actually doing that. I don't think allowed at Udon Thani, Nong Khai or Prachuap, though I may be mistaken. Prachuap Khiri Khan might, but has to remain in all year, as recall thinking, why bother, since married, just put in for 2 months (for marriage ext), and I can take it when and if, I want/need. Wish people would post which provinces actually allow that rule. -
I'm sure it's just a coincidence ... USA ... Born 1954 (me), male life expectancy is 66.7 yrs. USA Soc Sec age of full retirement benefits is 66, born 1960, now 67. USA ... Male life expectancy if born 1960 ... 66.7 yrs Why pension funds are not fully vested, as they know, they'll never need to pay out that much. IAM union average monthly pay outs for our local union was 18 months. For my job classification, only 11 months.

Bangkok woman contracts rare lung infection from feeding pigeons
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Nothing rare about that, if exposing yourself to pigeons all the time. My brother use to race pigeons, they almost killed him, the lung infection that is. He had to give up the hobby. Shock surprise, masks didn't work 😲 -
How to retire in Thailand
KhunLA replied to CharlieH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
A strategy that didn't allow you to stay in country all year, (assuming). Now you have a legal visa. And meet the requirement, or use an agent to skirt the rules. Most people can not legally retire on 35k a month, on a long term visa that allows you to stay in country for 365 days. That's retirement in my dictionary. Voluntary leaving, yes, mandatory to leave ... no. Barring being 50+ & 800k in bank when needed. Or married and meeting the yearly financials, which just 35k income won't cut it. -
Gay conversion therapy in Italy and Its Lingering Scars

I must have missed the memo ... as I thought catholic priest were suppose to be celibate. Why would you need gay conversion if nobody is having sex. -
Frozen pension policy turns British expat's dream into a nightmare
KhunLA replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
To the title .. and with all things ... ... no plan (research) is a plan to fail. ... "tarnished by unforeseen financial challenges."... More like, tarnished by no research and lack of common sense. -
Regret retiring ? ... NO I can always think of doing something, anything, or nothing at all, and all more fun then working. Only worked for the bennies & money, when I didn't need either, their was no purpose to be there. Work kept me from doing other things that I enjoy more. Doing nothing at all was more enjoyable than having to be on a schedule. I self entertain easily, can think for myself, I don't need programming.

Trump found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in World News
Trump now raise over $70 million of 'small donations' since convicted, with zero effort ... Just saw a news-blip, and biden only raised $25 million, at a major event, this week, with two ex-presidents speaking on his behalf ... -
Yea ... but they would be deleted. Was just told not to post rubbish, and that was on a similar rubbish post. I see you gave about 16 people a good chuckle. Silly post will get you silly replies. Thinking about Thai citizenship, and you used an agent to open a bank account ... nuff said

Brownies .... ... vid below the 'why' & how to get glossy top... ... short version, sugar has to be dissolved, little to no grains left. And the recipe I used. No salt, since using salted butter, and used 4 oz/110gr of chocolate, since sweetened chocolate. Next time I'll cut 50gr of sugar, to 200gr instead of 250gr. Butter was 115gr. I don't do cup measurements. Two -0- eggs. 9 inch round spring pan vs 8 inch square = same area
