  1. May exceed 4 baht ... when has it ever not exceed 4 baht, unless minimal usage. Until we got solar, and used less that 150 kWh a month, it was always 4+ baht the past 15 ish yrs, and knocking on 5 baht with the higher use bills.
  2. You need to work on your delivery then, as you read like the antagonist in the remake of "Guess Who's (not) Coming to Dinner" 😎
  3. Really .. "Declared dead in absentia by a Thai court in 1974 (aged 67–68)" - wiki "The case generated worldwide publicity and intense speculation, with most press reports and analysts contending that Thompson had been kidnapped (although no ransom note was forthcoming); had been murdered (although no body was ever found); had voluntarily left to do secret work in resolving the Vietnam War (although no evidence was presented); or was eliminated by business rivals (although no evidence on this emerged)."
  4. And yet, I think most of us that actually have solar, don't see any 'added' negatives, and only positives with huge saving in the future after ROI.
  5. I thought it was just to show your bigotry of blacks & Americans. As the only thoughts you expressed. But that's just me, maybe I misread your intention 😎
  6. Just stick to Gmap, and you'll be fine. Try to avoid rush hour when possible. Along with going to/from Bangkok, when the weekenders are on the road. Meaning don't go Jomtien to BKK on Sunday, or BKK to Jomtien on Friday night or Saturday, as domestic tourist will be filling the roads. Same with hwy # 35 to SS, as weekenders heading to/from Cha Am & Hua Hin. You want to be going the opposite way, on weekends.
  7. @Mitkof Island Don't know about HH area pricing, but pricing will run the gamut of damn cheap, you get what you pay for, to possibly getting reamed with silly price. Wife had it done, more than few years ago, <3000 baht, no meds, and Q'd 10 folks in 5 hours, so one has to wonder how sterile those condition were, and since no meds, didn't make the last turn. Told nothing usually found there anyway 😲 (govt hosp). Side note: private hosp in same area charged 5k for same, and simply limo'd you over to govt hosp for same Q 😂 I had it done ~10+k at govt hosp (BKK), had a 10 month Q, which of course paid a fee to jump Q (?) off hours for 10K, so had endoscopy (~10k) done same time, w/meds 😴, so less <28k for both and glad I did, as having couple polyps removed from one end, and found a hiatal hernia on the other end 😂 As far as Doc referral needed, simply tell your doc you have blood in stools and colon cancer runs in the family. For HH ... I sent PM
  8. Land and or house (s) as investment. Best & safest, as not making any more land, and people always need a place to live. If partner not the sharpest tack in the box, you could set up a 'trust fund', that dishes out monthly payments, if your assets allow.. Wife has assets (land/house) w/nice retirement fund. If she uses that up in her later years, she can always sell the house & land she's too old to maintain, and would replenish her retirement fund. She's savvy and one reason we have the assets we do. No worries there. Daughter is chip of the ol' block, and followed my advice on RE, already has one townhouse that renters of paying for, so in 20 yrs, at latest, that will be free & clear, earning 20k a month, and she'll only be 44 yrs old. Hopefully she'll have 2 or 3 more by that time and also free & clear. Hard to lose w/RE, unless overpay or crap financing. Read the fine print. Off topic, love the constant Thai bashing, as if foreigners are great investors in their future....NOT
  9. A simple 2 or 3 stage countertop water filter will take out most things you list, if not all and more. But won't take out any metals that may or may not be in the water. Strange that our TDS meter registers tap water at about 170-180 ppm before & after filtered 😂 which could just be minerals in the water ... or not. We use one for rain water now. Main drinking water is from RO, delivered in 18L bottles, with reading of <10, and all of ฿20, too easy & inexpensive. Richard Barrow did a test of most drinking water from 7-11+ and some surprising results on the TDS meter. So most safe to drink, aside from the soft plastic vessels & silly cost.
  10. Here's some thoughts on 'after' the installation, as our system was installed. Definitely less expensive if you can DIY. We sized the system to meet our usage from PEA, at rental & past house build, knowing the expected minimum needed, and luckily got that low/high usage, just about right. Handles being abusive with the AC and even plenty of excess for charging the EVs. We're still connected, but basically 'off grid', 24/7. Conx fee is still about 27 baht a month, if discounted, and 42 ish if full fee. We've been very conservation, using 350kWh a month, first couple months, and abused it up to 1000+kWh a month. Total crap days, only generating 10kWh to sunny and producing 50kWh for the day. But always enough, as if not producing much, means overcast & rainy, so don't need the ACs.
  11. So he can't afford to live here now, so going to spend what he has, hoping to live in home country, work, and save 400k and return, sometime in the future ... and then what ? Rinse & repeat. AND ... he expects his wife to be here, where ever that is now, when he returns. Good luck with that.
  12. Another battery break through in the works ....
  13. MG ZS EV 2022 (D) 1 year owning & 20k kms (19,950) Still loving it, and 20k kms check up this week, w/tire rotation. Don't expect any surprises. We charge with excess solar, so IF, all kms local, then a savings of about ฿54,000 for the year / 20k kms (91 @ ฿38/L). Our actual driving, was O&A for 9366 kms, of which 5366, we used CS @ ฿7.5/kWh = ฿6,200 vs ฿25,000 if using petrol for 9366 kms. We saved about ฿47,800 baht for the year, from petrol alone, vs the same ICE version of the ZS, that we 'did own'. I minus'd 4000 kms off the 9366 total, as 8 trips overnight & CS used, with 500 kms per trip from solar. Beginning from house @ 100%, returning @ ~20%, so about 250 kms each way X2 X8 = 4000 kms charged by solar. Rarely use the grid to charge the car or MB. Love the performance & comfy, quiet, smooth ride. Also like the 'almost' one foot driving & regen, which should require less replacement of brake pads. Do not like & disabled 'keeping in lane driver assist' feature. Rather annoying, probably more so in TH, but can't see myself using if outside of TH. Those little steering wheel nudges are annoying. We don't use the mapping/GPS/direction software, and didn't even activate it, as didn't care for the version in the ICE version. We use Gmap. Except for wife listening to music occasionally, we don't bother with any other features. I'll use Cruise Control on open roads, set @ 90 kph which takes some getting use to, with the safe distance sensor adjustments, but a tap of accelerator overrides that annoying slowing down. Charging when O&A is easy & convenient, and yet to be inconvenienced by any Qs, though we rarely travel on weekends. Have run into a few inop chargers, and simply went to the next one up the road. Don't go below 20% when O&A, and always know where the next CS is. Get 360 kms locally per full charge, in 'ECO' mode, and about 300 kms when O&A. Usually topping up after 250 ish, kms, and a welcomed stop after 3 ish hrs on Thai roads. Car is usually done charging, before we are done whatever we're doing; walk dog, munch, toilet, checking for hotel/restaurant at destination, or trolling AN, IF enough time 😁 Our other EV, used almost daily, weather dependent, E-MB, DECO SUSU model, is now 2 yrs old / 5300 kms, and loving it also. One more year on the battery warranty, and no problems expected. Highly recommend anyone considering a new scooter to check out the DECO line up, as they start at <฿30k w/govt incentives. You won't go far or (top end) fast, but you'll pass all the petrol stations. Really can't beat it for knocking around town. My DIY E-bike hasn't gotten much use later, and really should use that more often. HAPPY MOTORING
  14. A law office's dream customer ... 🤣 ... "I'm aware from another thread you may be able to go into the Amphur office and do something for free. Not so interested in that."
  15. Anywhere in the world, where I'd have to plug my car in, so I could go into a vendor for a meal and a couple pints, is way to cold for me. If the oil has a chance to start freezing, then I don't need to live there. Love playing in the snow but 15-20-30° below 0 with or without wind chill factor ..... ... NO THANKS
  16. What's wrong with a little 'trudging across the tundra' .. as I hear 'St Alfonzo' is nice that time of year.
  17. Oh my ... can't wait
  18. That was fast ... thank you patient -0- for your contribution Damn filthy foreigners 🤣
  19. Only read the OP, as too silly to read any replies. Just chiming in to point out, the OP was complaining about all the silly threads started of late... ... and yet ... nuff said. With that said, where can I buy a couple inexpensive canoes 🤣 What's the age of consent ? But more importantly, will they be serving alcohol today ?
  20. Yep ... that's how I read it, as an experienced, confident driver wouldn't ever post the query with that little tidbit. Why I suggest 'take he bus' Thailand, especially a congested city with everyone in a hurry, is not the place to learn. Fine for the back sois, local neighborhoods, but any commute in rush hour is risky. Only plus is, sometimes the gridlock is safer, due to low speeds. With that, comes a lot of unexpected lane changes, and not everyone is using their mirrors beforehand. As the tourist oops make the news, it's obvious, one needs to be an experienced rider in TH.
  21. "due to factors ranging from the escalation of the war between Israel and Hamas" Didn't realize israel & gaza were big exporters of oil ... 😂 MSM making sh!t up to justify inflation. Just say what we all know ... ... " you're raising prices, because you can" and want more profits. Cut with the excuses as it's insulting to think that we're that stupid to believe your BS.
  22. Take in as much cholesterol as you want, preferably good cholesterol, staying away from trans fats. Dietary is so much better than what the liver produces. I used to eat everything and anything, always had high cholesterol, mostly good. Then started cutting back on fats & dairy, as 'they' recommend. Bad move as apparently not enough, so liver was taking over. Explains the high cholesterol of late, but bad cholesterol. Now on a statin (controlling liver production of) and numbers completely reversed, back to high good cholesterol count. You really have to wonder if they tell you to lower your fat intake so they can sell more statin. I was healthier when I did listen to 'the science'. MSM is here to sell you stuff you don't need or want.
  23. Lots of people complain about the the 'gentrification' when I think all the changes have improved things greatly. Most importantly, vendors off lower Suk, as now, you can actually walk on the walkways, without forming single file, or worry about being burned by a vendors bbq or hot oil.
  24. What is the center of Bangkok/Krung Thep to you ? 50 neighborhoods make up Krung Thep. I doubt if most people could name & locate 5 of them accurately.
  25. I was actually surprised the NEDC 403 range rating changed, as I was thinking that was 'hard coded' in, but apparently not. As rare anyone would actually get that, and the only time it shows up, is end of charging & start up, as default setting screenshot. Once I change the mode from default normal, to eco, it never shows again. Only while charging, again, if nothing else is touched. As time goes on, and with age/segregation, it will be easy for folks to judge battery capacity, for the 2nd hand market when shopping. No real need for a certified battery capacity test when selling, as that would take forever with a 50kWh battery bank.
