PINK ID Card UK National format
FriendlyFarang replied to bolt's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If your ID number starts with a 1 it means that you are Thai citizens by birth, in which case you wouldn't have a pink ID card, but a blue one, same as any other Thai. -
Looks like entering illegally is his only crime, and considering that he tried to depart at the airport and not through the jungle, I guess he wasn’t aware that he entered illegally. My guess is: Somebody at the airport left a door open and on arrival he accidentally left the airport without passing immigration. This is of course a major security breach, and somebody in charge might lose face over it, so better just blame it on the foreigner.

Yes, I also think that’s something which a Thai might not able to pull off. It has happened a few times that I was asked by Thais, who were aware that I’ve lived in Thailand for years „at which hotel do you live?“. So for them it seemed normal that foreigners stay in hotels for years. At some hotels all rooms come with breakfast included, in this case there are usually hardly any checks in place, and of course you get just waved through if they have seen you a few times.
-
Usually 2 people are allowed per room, so not really a surprise that bringing a friend to breakfast is no problem. I think most of the times I get a wai, I definitely got one yesterday at the breakfast buffet at a 1500 baht per night hotel, so nothing fancy.

There is no need to change the address. If you do it you will get new plates. To change the address you definitely need the green book, a certificate of residence, and your passport. I'm not certain if you also have to bring the bike, I've never changed just the address. If you want to change the owner as well the bike itself is definitely required.

Wise formerly Transferwise
FriendlyFarang replied to rabiedabruce's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
This depends mostly on where your money is now. Some banks in some countries simply take a business day or two to transfer your money to Wise. Once the money arrives at Wise it usually takes just a few minutes until it arrives in the Thai bank account. -

Wife Drove Over Neighbour's Dog
FriendlyFarang replied to Brewster67's topic in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
If this is true, then it's quite easy: Walk along the street, take a video of the dog snapping at your heels. Confront the neighbors with your video, and tell them you expect them to pay for your hospital visit and the tetanus shots (also take a video of this). Suddenly it's probably not their dog anymore. This is then also your chance to take the dog without owner to some temple far away. -
From his OP I think it’s reasonable to assume that as a UK citizen he spends the 8-9 months per year in which he isn’t in Thailand in the UK and he was probably always a UK resident.

If you are a UK resident: No

The correct answer to this question is: 0 If you qualify for some other extension you could of course apply for it, as mentioned by ubonjoe, 60 days to visit your child should be possible. If you don't qualify for any extension you can still apply for one (you have to pay the 1900 Baht), they will deny it but they will give you 7 days to leave the country.

3% sounds like withholding tax for professional services. This would of course imply that you work as freelancer, which is not possible as a foreigner in Thailand. So they basically treat you as if you are working on your own and are just contracted by them, not that you are their employee. If it's withholding tax that they are deducting, they have to issue you a withholding tax certificate every time they deduct it: https://www.rd.go.th/fileadmin/download/english_form/frm_WTC.pdf

Settle a pub "discussion"
FriendlyFarang replied to VocalNeal's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No, it's not. There is a requirement to carry ID though, but doesn't matter if it's a Thai driving license, pink ID card or passport. Don't know the fine if you have neither with you. -
Anyone know a hotel close to this University in Bangkok
FriendlyFarang replied to ubonr1971's topic in Bangkok
Maybe you should get some glasses then. Here a picture of one, has "Huay Kwang" written on it and it's maybe 50 meters away from Ratchadaphisek road. They can be found in most medium sized roads all over Bangkok. Ekkamai, Phra Khanong, On Nut etc.... all have songthaews. -

Did you never leave your room? -
This poster is right. She wants a 35k iPhone as status symbol, and your wife supports it because status symbols are important for most Thais. Did your wife already ask you for a new car? If your daughter takes reasonable care of her things, has an understanding that 35k is quite a bit of money, and you can afford it, then you can of course buy her the status symbol. If any of these points doesn't apply, you could tell her that you can buy her a cheaper phone (a 10k Android phone is perfectly fine), or she can find a job and save money until she can pay for half of the phone and you will pay the other half. I switched from a one year old 10k Android phone to the newest 50k iPhone... the pictures look better, but that's already the biggest advantage that I noticed.

44 Foreign Drivers Arrested in Patong with No Driving Licenses
FriendlyFarang replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
I would stop everybody without a helmet or sitting with 3 people on one bike first, because that's the easiest to spot and these people are clearly breaking the law. Stopping foreigners first, just because they are foreigners, while letting Thai looking people who clearly break laws pass is just racism. -

If you look at the police checkpoints in tourist places it's indeed racism. They pull over everybody who doesn't look Thai, but a Thai without helmet and no license plate can just pass.- 77 replies
