I just jumped from Win7Pro to Win11. Was forced to when log-ins to banks etc stopped working. I'm lost and slowly learning everything on my own. I'm not "computer smart". Is there an easy to follow and understand site for Win11 Dummies like me? Thanks!

Such a shame - My yearly trip to Calif. Cities to avoid
GypsyT replied to EVENKEEL's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
"I got a deal at an Extended Stay location in Torrance for $128 a night. It was basic with a kitchen and in a relatively safe area. I rented a Kia Soul from Hertz at LAX for $60 a day. If ones does not have a need to be back in the US then i would suggest not going." Thanks! Those prices helped to decide NOT to go back to LA this year neither... ???? But I go to St G, UT because US banks are holding my CDs hostage. Will release funds only if visiting personally! Yes, I knew it. -
What happens when you get a jury duty summons in the mail?
GypsyT replied to Khyron's topic in General Topics
There are couple of things which worked in California; 1. Register a business, any kind, and be a sole owner/worker. - easy to get jury waivers due to "hardship" 2. Last time when I renewed DL I made X to "NO political connection". Meaning not part of any party. No more jury duty letters. - I still vote, of course -
Finland visas are now handled by VFS Global. Not easy to deal with and they ask/require MANY things. https://visa.vfsglobal.com/tha/en/fin/ Like; https://finlandvisa.fi/checklist/THA/105 Appl; https://www.migrationsverket.se/download/18.5e83388f141c129ba6312919/1669639071060/119031_blvisa_en.pdf It's a pain in the S now. Same to Sweden. I'd make Spain her destination via Finland, or direct, and go there to spend 2 weeks together! Better weather too ???? Or make Spain the first entry country. If she answers honestly to stay with you Immi wants to know many things about you! - Your bank records, income, name, how you live, passport etc - They also expected your "Invitation letter". Do it, it helps most. - If she comes on her own better you are not in the picture at all and she does hotel bookings as below. I'd recommend booking a room in major hotel chain for 3-4 days. Stay there together. Also, book a long stay for whole visit in other hotel via agent, like Agoda, but don't pay for nor stay there. Agoda allows to cancel for free. Do it, and stay at your place rest of the trip. Good luck!

Next Major Phase of Jomtien Beach Expansion will be in 2024
GypsyT replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Jomtien beach looks much better now than few years ago. Raw sewage smell is less too thanks to solid man covers. They should have done the same through Dongtan all the way to Sands cafe. -
Second hand car import / lift of ban
GypsyT replied to oustaristocrats's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
"Personal used car imports into Thailand have been prohibited since 2019." "Not true..." "Gawd...what are you talking about? Thailand has not permitted the import of used cars since 2019, it's just ridiculous that you say that is not true." "Your interpretation of my comments is unfortunate. If there is anything inaccurate in my comments on this thread, please point them out, specifically, then your interpretation may have some validity." Lou is correct. If government say something it is so. It ain't happening. Need a proof? Here; "Since the 1960, prostitution is illegal and criminally prosecutable with prison sentences of up to 20 years." -
"anyone free to help me get the dead body out of mine??? we'll keep this between us.... " Watch entertaining and educational movie about people who had same problem; "Fried Green Tomatoes".

"In the spirit of Charles Darwin, the Darwin Awards commemorate individuals who protect our gene pool by making the ultimate sacrifice of their own lives. Darwin Award winners eliminate themselves in an extraordinarily idiotic manner, thereby improving our species' chances of long-term survival." Thank all of you to make more space for rest of us ????

The more I read more I like - Cambodia ???? "In Cambodia, all you need to do is purchase a visa-on-arrival at the airport by filling out a short form, providing two passport photos, and paying $35 for a “business” or “ordinary” visa, which will be valid for one month. Once you are in the country all you have to do is extend your visa for a one-year period—at a cost of less than $300—which allows you to live in the country and come and go at your pleasure, without the stringent income requirements needed by many other Southeast Asian countries. As long as you behave yourself, the authorities are happy to welcome another foreign guest to their country to support the local economy." Gotta give a go. Starting w 6 or 12m visa w multi entries for less than $ 300.

Just start giving out all you can afford now personally to those you like. I've been doing this, in cash and gifts, for last 10 years and keep doing. This way I have zero expenses and full control who gets it. My best friends are same age and most in much worse heath so I wanted to be sure they get to enjoy and know how much I appreciated their help in past. Many have passed away already. The very last $$ will go to my favorite respectable organizations and they have own attorneys to handle it.

Second hand car import / lift of ban
GypsyT replied to oustaristocrats's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Cars can be imported if there's a sticker in the engine room; "This vehicle meets California Smog Regulations". Switzerland is one of the countries which use CA specs. CA specs are the toughest in the world. Then there are DOT rules for 1975 - up cars. Bumpers, safety belts, color of signal lights, etc. All can be imported for "Off road use only". What happen then is anybody's guess... I did this back 'n forth for years. Sure, a big head ache but I took it as my "protection" against other importers/exporters. Some countries were even tougher, like Ecuador and Peru, which had total ban on imports. I had cut a perfect car in two pieces and ship as "spare parts". Then they welded back to a complete car. AUS is an other tough place. They have special shops to change LHD to RHD. Thailand has very high taxes and many rules. I had customers who wanted Corvettes but too much head ache for me. I passed getting into it. If you are interested in imported special cars go to meetings. Many cool cars in Thailand and how they got them is often fascinating (if they tell....) https://www.classic-car-friends-pattaya.com/ -
"Coming up to redemption of some investments in 24 onwards which means need to factor in a tax domicile. Usually would reside in Dubai/Carib but with kids not ideal. Looking at the tax side Cambodia/Laos would be ideal (or Singapore/Malaysia) however not ideal with the free-flowing borders (entire household - nannies, teachers etc) for babies/kids " Pretty sad you put money and tax break ahead of your kids well being.... Spend your dough on kids, stay in EU, like Canary Islands, and they will take care of you. If you were alone, why not 3rd world countries for kicks?

" "Nowhere near the beach" Sorry - my bad. I mixed it to Jomtien Condotel which is next to VT5.

Take one of those "Cattle Group Trips". They do all for you. Just walk and follow the flag... Then simply stay and get extensions or quick trip to Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos.

"Pattaya plaza condotel has many double rooms done up. It can work out ok. Plenty of room. 76sqm. Older building(crapiola) but worth the money and great location at under 2 mil." I rented studio there once. Run down but big room and only 550 B/nite. No security guard, doors open all night. Nice big garden and direct access to the beach. Many older Norwegian live there, quiet building. They liked to live there. I didn't, for any price.

OP, Come to Dongtan Beach, next to police station. Many views to choose ???? From 39kg to 100kg, from XXS to XXL. https://www.pattayamail.com/latestnews/news/pattaya-dongtan-beach-a-hive-of-activity-during-sunset-rush-hour-344279

" Balcony was large enough to set up a proper kitchen so no greasy smoke from cooking inside." That's very smart. During last trip I was trying to find VT7 studio next to emergency stairs. Those 48m2 units have TWO balconies and they don't cost much more. Sometimes sell same as 1 balcony. Perfect for your idea, I had same in mind ???? Didn't find one....
