  1. My generation had Minnie the Minx
  2. I think that many of them have only experienced a war as a computer game with a reset button.
  3. Systolic Diastolic recommendation <99 < 59 consult your doctor 100 > 119 60 >79 Optimum self check 120 > 129 80 > 85 Normal self check 130 > 139 85 > 89 Too high consult your doctor 140 > 159 89 > 99 Seek Medical advice 170 > 179 100 > 109 BP far too high Seek Medical advice 180 > 110 > Urgently Seek Medical advice These are the figures and recommendations from my Microlife BP tester.
  4. Will YOU be the first to volunteer to go to a war that nobody wants, and put YOUR body in harms way? Or are you happy enough to be a keyboard warrior and let others stop the bullets instead of you?
  5. Good for you. IIRC back in the UK even in the 1950s you used to get discounts on cars at the motor shows. The bonus for you was the Thai government pushing EVs and giving you an extra discount. Hopefully the cashback from the government will keep coming, though with all the other super plans they have in their basket of plenty, I hope that they have enough money.
  6. I eat breakfast, then spend 1 or 2 hours cutting the scrub and grass, catch up on roundtuit jobs, outside or inside, depending on the weather and then take my BP.
  7. In the mornings I generally take my BP readings between 11 and noon about 30 minutes after I have done my morning jobs. I take the resting BP around 4 pm after my afternoon nap. I take 5 readings in a row and use the middle reading as they are usually different. I discard the 2 highest and the 2 lowest and the middle one is the figure that I use.
  8. But if you do it that way every time how can it be a faked or unrealistic result. Many people take their BP at home and yet get different results at the doctor or the hospital. It is called the white coat syndrome. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/high-blood-pressure/expert-answers/white-coat-hypertension/faq-20057792#:~:text=You could have white coat, pressure sometimes wear white coats. My blood pressure is always higher in a medical setting than it is at home. Why is this? Answer From Francisco Lopez-Jimenez, M.D. You could have white coat hypertension. This condition occurs when blood pressure readings at a health care provider's office are higher than they are in other settings, such as at home. It's called white coat hypertension because people who measure blood pressure sometimes wear white coats. It was once thought that white coat hypertension was caused by the stress that appointments with a health care provider can create. If blood pressure returned to optimal after the appointment, the temporarily raised blood pressure wasn't considered a problem. However, some care providers think that white coat hypertension can be a problem. It might mean a risk of developing high blood pressure as a long-term condition. People with white coat hypertension might also have a higher risk of developing certain cardiovascular problems and damage to some organs, compared with people who have steady, optimal blood pressure. The same might be true for people who have masked hypertension. That means their blood pressure is OK at the care provider's office, but it can spike when measured in other settings. It's thought that even these temporary increases in blood pressure could develop into a long-term problem. If you have white coat hypertension, talk to your health care provider about monitoring your condition at home. Your provider might ask you to wear a device (ambulatory blood pressure monitor) to track your blood pressure for up to 24 hours. This measures blood pressure during activity and at rest. It can help determine if your high blood pressure needs treatment
  9. Yes.
  10. Purely out of curiosity and nosiness, if the Cyber truck is imported from the USA, where will you be able to recharge it. I have no idea as I don't have an EV of any brand, nor at 79 years old am I likely to buy one in my lifetime. It makes no sense to only have charging stations in BKK and nowhere else and most of the Tesla chargers outside the city will be rarely used. Home chargers are a good idea but IIRC, the USA electrical supply is 115 volts and 60 Hz and Thailand is 220/230 volts and 50 Hz. Presumably when you buy your Tesla you can buy a genuine home charging kit, but only from Tesla, and you will need a Tesla tech to install it at home for you. That won't come cheaply either.
  11. China can import as many EV's as they want to Thailand. If few people buy then then the Chinese will have to dump them on the market and sell them at a loss or stop importing them. The problem with dumping them onto the market is that financial penalties can be imposed against the importer for dumping. Thailand, just like every other country, can set its import duty at what ever rate that it wants. If the country decides that it will allow unlimited imports, then the import duty will be low. Conversely if they don't want many imports then they simply raise the import duty.
  12. I put my cuff just above my left elbow, which is where the hospital tests although they generally use the point above my right elbow with the hose at the centre point. If the hose is too far to the left or right of centre I get a different reading. This morning my BP median reading after doing odd jobs for an hour or so, was Sys Dia Pulse 114 70 83
  13. When I ordered mine, I ordered a large cuff.
  14. I have no idea, but Santos telling lies would not surprise me.
  15. But those are the current rules. If you want to change them you probably can but you will need a large bi-partisan majority to do so, and TBH I don't think that will happen.
  16. Born: July 22, 1988 (age 35 years), Jackson Heights, New York, United States Party: Republican Party
  17. If it was only the Democrats who voted him out I would probably have agreed with you. However, https://www.cbsnews.com/news/who-voted-to-expel-george-santos/#:~:text=The final vote count on,112 voted against doing so. The final vote count on the resolution to expel Santos was 311 to 114, far surpassing the two-thirds majority required under the Constitution to succeed. Among Republicans, 105 members voted to kick him out, and 112 voted against doing so. 48.38% of the GOP, his own party, voted to expel him as well.
  18. Then you would be looking at around 12 million baht just for a pickup truck.
  19. I have no idea TBH. I cannot see Tesla importing many Cyber trucks into Thailand, nor can I see them importing many spares either. Tesla would perhaps have to bear the cost of training 2 or 3 techs just for the truck and that would not be cheap.
  20. If the basic version is $60.000 in the US it will be a minimum 7.3 million baht in Thailand with the 350% import duties. That is of course IF you can find some company to legally import it and if neither the police or customs take a fancy to it. Then of course there is the problem of finding a service agent and any spares will need to be imported adding another 350% to the cost. If the battery costs 50% of the car, that alone will set you back another 3,500,000 baht. Best of luck with that.
  21. In my personal opinion it is the most FUPOS I have seen in years.
  22. I rather hope not but I have a felling that the doctor wrote after my last black out. He reckons that I probably have Vertebro-basilar artery syndrome. Vertebrobasilar insufficiency is a condition characterized by poor blood flow to the posterior (back) portion of the brain, which is fed by two vertebral arteries that join to become the basilar artery. Blockage of these arteries occurs over time through a process called atherosclerosis, or the build-up of plaque. I am glad that Google has a searh facility.
  23. If I had me druthers, I druther pop off overnight in bed, but until it gets me, I prefer to hang around for a few years longer, and wait for am email from King William 1V on my hundredth birthday. They stopped using telegrams and the telegram boy on his 125cc BSA Bantam a few years ago.
  24. And it sneaks up on you without notice.
