  1. You do sound very well versed in ordering parts for a Chevrolet and what is available and also in where to have them serviced and repaired. I guess you kind of need to be if you are driving around a Chevrolet and/or other US engineered cars. I'll just stick with Hondas and Toyotas. A much better line of automobiles.
  2. Well had this American hit a Thai family instead of a British family you can bet that this whole matter would have been handled a whole lot differently.
  3. I flew China Eastern out of LAX back around 2017. Worse flight and airline ever. Ok, the price was why I took a chance. It was $558rtn. Left LAX on time and arrived Shanghai. Short wait for the connection and then boarded. Flight was taking an hour. Ok, I go back to sleep. Wake up about five hours later..............and we are still on the ground in the plane. Finally after sitting on the plane for seven hours we leave after a slight "mechanical" issue was resolved. No food or water served that I know of during that time. Once the flight was airborne they give us some type of sack lunch. Very crappy it was. Arrive in Bangkok much later than expected. Go to baggage claim and wait for bags......and wait some more.....and wait some more. Finally, the belt stops and that's it. Have to go file forms for bags not delivered. I then get a taxi and take it to my house. The next day they contact me and tell me that the bags will be delivered. That afternoon a broken down looking truck arrives and has my bag. That's great, where's the other one? Oops, no have. Can't blame them as it looks like it got subcontracted out. Call China eastern and explain to them I'm still missing a bag. They tell me they will check and call me back. Two hours later they call. They tell me that the bag will be on the next flight. Bag shows up the next day. Everything was there, nothing missing. So yes, I won't ever be taking that airline again.
  4. I wouldn't buy a Chevy. Stick with Hondas and Toyotas. There's a reason you see them all over the world.
  5. I have a few that I watch but are not Thailand related. Too bad George Carlin is gone. He would have some very creative content about Trump, Biden, and other current events.
  6. In case the Thais have to bring in a beefier aircraft they do have the F-16A/B Falcon. Myanmar does have the Mig-29. One strayed over the Thai border in 2022. The F-16A/B Falcon turns tighter, turns faster, can go faster than the Mig-19, can accelerate faster than the Mig-29, has a lower stall speed, has better vertical, and I believe the F-16 has a clearer canopy with no metal bars causing a blind spot. The Mig-29 scores high on energy maneuverability and capability to gain in a slow-speed close fight, says German pilots who have done combat training operating one against the other. While the F-16 has an advantage above 200 knots speed, the Mig-29 has incredible nose-pointing capability down to 100 knots. Of course if you don't have the money for proper maintenance and to keep pilots up to date on the latest improvements for that model it won't matter.
  7. Right wing Christian men makes it sound like a white supremist group. That they mentioned Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in the USA is quite bizarre. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho is a very small city in northern Idaho. That area, especially just north of Coeur d'Alene, is well known and documented for being a bastion of white supremacy as was demonstrated in the 1980's. This alone tells you a lot about the group and what their agenda is.
  8. Will the new Toyota Fortuner be available with a hybrid engine? Maybe around the end of the year or in 2025?
  9. You definitely needed a Thai lawyer on your side advocating for you the minute this happened. They would know the best course of action to take to get you the result that you need.
  10. Hun Sen should be brought before a war crimes tribunal for his actions as a Khmer Rouge officer. He has the blood of many people on his hands.
  11. VPN's are the way to go for a lot of websites that the Thai government finds objectionable. From X-rated sites to criticizing the government, VPN's feel a void.
  12. Ha! Yeah right. That would never happen in Thailand. (sarcasm intended)
  13. The Heritage Foundation is a very far right conservative institution. I would be very surprised if they ever had anything positive to say about a moderate Republican let alone a Democrat.
  14. I left Thailand in 2001 expecting to return in a year. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and I didn't use the account again until 2005. Updated my passbook in 2005 and noticed I had around 1,500 baht in it which was more than I thought would be in it. Old ATM debit card had expired but I got a new one. Everything went very smoothly. This was years ago so maybe some of the banking rules have changed.
  15. Not surprised by this at all. However, the bias in this report is very evident.
  16. A war criminal and mass murderer comes to visit another corrupt criminal.
  17. Leave the car at home and just use mass transit/taxi?
  18. I became a lifetime member of the Pattaya Expats Club back in 2006. I have rarely attended any of their meetings since then. I just haven't felt the need or desire to attend.
  19. I was last in Loei back in 2000 over New Year's on a cycling trip. It does sound as if it has changed a bit since then.
  20. I avoid going to Phuket. Not worth going through all the problems that plague that over-crowded and over-priced island.
  21. "Passengers took pictures onboard as the drama unfolded." Why? Were they going to update their status on Facebook, Instagram, or some other social media platform?
  22. The way that condos are run and the quality of them I would be very wary of actually purchasing one. There are definitely more condos for sale in the greater Pattaya area than there are buyers. There are so many things that you can't control such as neighbors plus Air BnB's, but then the condo management is a whole other problem. Good luck in your search.
  23. People cross the Thai/Lao border all the time with bicycles. It's no problem at all. Lots of people cycle from Vietnam to Laos and then on to Thailand at various border points including the one you intend to use.
  24. I have avoided flying Thai Airways internationally for many years. It's pretty easy as they don't serve the city I live in at my home country. I would have to fly somewhere else first and make another connection. There are many other Asian carriers that serve the city near me so I just fly with them. Plus the other carriers are all significantly cheaper to fly with.
