  1. Even after misc refresh etc. this thread appears twice in my "New Content" list. No duplicate. Only for me?
  2. The whole article focuses only on the aviation features of the airports. Nothing about quality/convenience/safety of the airports for passengers. Where would Paris Charles De Gaulle be on such a list? Worst airport experience I had.
  3. How many of the plane crashes can you stick to DMK? If Lauda Air thrust reverser goes on midflight this is a BOEING disaster. Design failure. Lauda went through the courts to clarify this. Planes crashing miles away ON THE WAY to DMK: what would you stick this to?
  4. May 22, 2014 Military coup. For two months no significant change in EUR/THB (~44.5). And after that a long period of gain for the THB started (EUR down to 34.5 in March 15, loss of more than 20%). Markets love stable dictatorships. Markets hate change/uncertainty. So I am not quite sure whether the current perspective of change does not affect the rate.
  5. What a confusion if you compare the articles. Yesterday I was convinced it was an escalator but no it was a walkway! "End of the walkway" Which Thailand visitor hasn't heard it?
  6. Lorry stolen. Now back damaged. Will the owner be happy? Aren't there smarter undercover methods to follow the stolen lorry? Then overpower the thief at a regular stop? Don't the owners invest in a simple GPS tracker for such valuable vehicles?
  7. Before leaving Thailand always think of worst case: cut off from the accounts. Prepare accordingly.
  8. Just yesterday I was confronted with a more hopeless case. Guy in Germany, Thai SIM expired, no more valid debit card. How can I connect to Kbank online? Answer: buy a flight ticket.
  9. That's true for SCB. I didn't need to go to the branch/ATM but switch off WiFi and connect via AIS mobile data. So they effectively check whether you/phone are in the country.
  10. Absolutely a malfunction and likely negligence. I could not quite get it from the Thairath article but they compare to some "China" case where a person was even killed. Falling into some collapsing "floor plate". Terrible! How many million Dollars in compensation would that be in the US? And here?
  11. Desperate fight of the old elite. Let's hope it won't end with violence on the streets.
  12. Likely made from Titan. I am not an expert but using a carbon fiber cylinder for that purpose? Some people swear that would not even sit in a 787.
  13. Some people need the thrill/excitement of risking their lives for basically nothing. Some can only afford some bungee jumping. Today some space tourists do an excursion in a Virgin Space ship for 200'000 USD.
  14. Wrong reported or wrong translation. That's NOT a trimmer blade. It's a grinding wheel. Horrendous idea to misuse it this way, There is a reason why grinders are among the most dangerous (DIY) devices. The trimmer blade lies on the ground unharmed. Before a trimmer blade breaks you need trying to cut the power pole.
  15. Looks suspicious. Did he really fix the grinding wheel to the trimmer trying to sharpen the blade???!!! Not quite safety at workplace. I wondered how a trimmer blade could hit his groin. I always fear for my foot/toes but not that up. For the smaller tasks I use a nylon string head. Would hurt but not kill me.
  16. Bandwidth by theory is much more than needed (post above). As you say you did a speedtest to ToT and values are OK. Now it's about connections to overseas that can be much different. Popular youtube content is mirrored by Google somewhere in the region (Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand?) and should never make problems. But where does Netflix come from? I don't know. You connect via cable? What device? PC?
  17. 100% What a fuzz. Find the catalog of questions. Swat all things not obvious/different from home country (60m from intersection..., x m from pedestrian crosswalk, no parking beside the mailbox , right turn has right of way before oncoming left turn etc etc). Then circle with an automatic scooter on the yard, pay some xxx Baht and off you go on your new Hayabusa
  18. Ask him. He (or fellows) are there for years. Do you really believe they work illegal in full light on Walking Street? Doubt it. The Russian "ladies" are more of a mystery to me. "Cultural/artist" visa? Direct your smartphone camera to the pushers on the street and they will attack you.
  19. There was a routine influenza vaccination at the village health center here last week. Wife went in the morning: big crowds, came back. At noon: vaccine used up.
  20. I append "-site:aseannow.com". Usually works if no hefty typos in posts/threads
  21. Hmm Can't find more than the well known motoring forum: https://aseannow.com/forum/78-thailand-motor-discussion/ And therein a very long thread about electric vehicles in Thailand:
  22. This is from a friend in Pattaya (cropped and pixelated). The approximate Baht amount was rounded to 1000s and the rate being about the currency market rate (quite generous). On the other hand immigration will likely do the math too.
  23. Well, detention center for a Thai? I think an ordinary stay at Klong Prem would be good enough. From the wiki: Drug addict seems to fit for her. "Phiset" = special ????
  24. An argument to do the re-entry at Suvarnabhumi (against my preference). But sure: always extension first however long the queue might be and then re-entry permit on that.
