Help me to find these places in Chiang Mai !!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I will go to Chiang mai next week with my lovely girlfriend. The last time I have been there was 7-8 years ago. There are so many places I would to go back but I don't remember the locations of those places. There was a very good and cheap northern Thai food restaurant in front of a school (school with a temple in the backyard) and also a very beautiful temple where you had a lot of young monk prospect. I would like to go back in that area. If you can help me it would be very appreciated !!! Thank you in advance !

Location on Google Maps

Based on the restaurant you mentioned and the photo of the street, there is also a small hotel just down the road with the same name as the restaurant. There are several schools around there, but I don't know which has a temple behind and don't recognise the temple in your photo.

The sign says Huen Phen restaurant 112 Ratchamanka Road, which is opposite a school and on the southern side of Chedi Luang Temple, all in the old city.

I am guessing the temple photo may be Chedi Luang as you enter from the front gate (east) but they did rebuild it a few years ago so possibly the photo wont match? I think it has been rebuilt/refurbed within the last 8 years?

Restaurant is Huen Phen on Rachamankha Rd. The school opposite is Anubahn Chiang Mai which does sort of have a temple at the back.

The temple photo looks like the front of Wat Phra Singh

Street photo is a block west from Huen Phen on Rachamankha Rd

Some of the photos are of Wat Phra Singha. The first photo with the lads and the umbrella I'm not sure about.

Thanks a lot guys for the info !

The picture I posted about the inside of the temple with the big Buddha statue is also inside the Wat Phra Singha temple ?

The photo of street and the umbrella is walking up Rachamanka against the traffic(its one way) maybe after you had been to the restaurant? You hit Samlan road at the intersection and if you turn right you pass the post office and are not far from Wat Pra Singh which may be your temple?

Half the fun of the old city is walking around and discovering all the great places that the masses never see. The old city is just full of amazing temples.

Make some new memories.

Yes, it's in the main (and largest) temple building (called a wihaan) at Wat Phra Singh.  All your temple photos (other than the first one) are of Wat Phra Singh.   I have no clue about the first photo you posted but believe it must be from another temple in the area (am fairly certain that photo wasn't taken at Wat Phra Singh).

For the restaurant search on Google Maps for "18.785822, 98.985153" without the quotes.
