Typical cheap and cool Thai outside restaurants

Featured Replies

Can you recommend me some great place in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. You know those place outdoor or with no walls with sometimes the plastic chairs and tables (and also the bottle in an ice bucket). What's your favorite spot ? (Kind of similar to the pictures I've post below)

One of the nicest places in Chiang Mai is a restaurant near Chiang Mai gate, called "FACES'.

It's organic food, delightfully cool under  the trees and shrubs, and an interesting range of terra-cotta statues.

When I googled it it was listed on 2 Phra Pok Klao Rd but the map has it on Ratchamakka Soi 6.

Can you please tell me which is correct? Thanks

That's sure possible, i'm just very bad with Thai names/words.

But along the chao praya are plenty of open air restaurants, actually all of them have terraces or are open.

Just follow the river on google maps?

Yup or go on the riverboats and jump of when you see a nice terrace.

The one mentioned above looks exactly like the one on the pictures..

You can also drive around BKK on the outer ringroads and you'll see plenty of open restaurants in all sizes. Places like that are in the subs since land is cheaper there and it;s where the most Thai live themselves as well.

You can drive Chaengwattana, there are many after you passed the river, take a left onto Chaya prueck/Ratcha prueck and there are many more.

The Bavarian fields comes to mind, that's just over the river at Chaeng wattana on the right hand side. It's a new place which is expanding all the time...It's all german style there.

Or go to Samsen Villa, google it.....it has a nice open air garden but also aircon places and karaoke rooms

Nawamin also has many, the karaoke places also sometimes have a big open restaurant next to their private rooms. Just get out of the skytrain area and there you'll find them.
