Bangkok Mass Transit Authority’s plan to install welfare card readers initially on 800 city buses within Oct 1 is likely to be delayed as the card-reading machines are still being tested in South Korea.

BMTA board chairman Natthachart Charuchinda said Friday (Sept 8) that representatives of the private company which won the contract to equip the card reading machines on city buses are currently in South Korea testing the machines with actual welfare cards brought from Thailand.

Once the machines have passed the tests, they will be delivered to the BMTA within this month to be equipped, initially on the first fleet of 800 buses.
