Master plan for political reform expected to be complete within 40 days

A committee responsible for political reform expects to complete the master plan for the country’s political reform within 40 days before submitting it to the Cabinet for conideration.

Asst.Prof.Wannatham Kanchanasuwan (วรรณธรรม กาญจนสุวรรณ), the member of the committee, revealed that the committee’s meeting during 4-5 January had come up with six strategies in the master plan, including those encouraging Thai people to play a more active role in politics and inspect the use of power of state officials.

As for the formation of the political reform council, Asst.Prof.Wannatham said it is under study.

You have to give Thaksin and his cronies some credit for knowing how to manipulate the political system, both for good and evil. But what military academy on the planet, from which the junta graduated with honors, teaches political science? Wastewater systems, highway design, educational reform, budgeting, etc.? What good did Dr. Tarisa's doctorate do in formulating the 30% withholding of funds? Do these generals know how to run a country? Of course not, and we hope these old men are wide enough to relinquish control in less than a year, to the folks who are properly trained. Well, more or less properly trained.

I fear that this Year of the Rabbit will see inexperienced Thai politicians hopping from one pronouncement to another. The more things change, the more they.....
