Contrasting the Thai Political Divide against the Western equivalent

Hi,

I've been told that the thai political divide doesn't line up evenly with our version in the west. To help me understand this better:

In what ways are the yellow shirts not more conservative?

In what ways are the red shirts not more liberal?

What do you think the Thai political divide is? Your questions seem to indicate that it's color based to represent some difference in ideology.

Prayut has expressed political conflict as a divide. As a nationalist he'd like it seems that all Thais to be of the same ideology that Prayut professes (however that might be defined). Whereas in democracies throughout the world political conflict is the main ingredient of freedom of expression.

The educated vs the gullible uneducated, who are not even indigenous Thai.

Do you mean aboriginal Thai?  I think they are all now indigenous Thai, though some may have more recent foreign ancestors than others.  The offspring of naturalised immigrants are as indigenous as the next man.

Thank you.
