I gave the cabinet maker a very good tip today in recognition of his excellent workmanship, he was completely shocked and almost refused it. The joinery workshop stand head and shoulders above their competitors for quality and charge very fair prices, even with me infront of them. The owner very proudly gets his moisture meter out to show his timber is slow dried to max. 10% moisture content. It's a real pleasure doing business with people like this. We bought doors and frames and the one I collected today was a bespoke pivot main entrance door and vestibule frame. If you ever do design one (on your next build) it needs to be oversized to be practical and impressive. Ours is 1.25m wide and 1m clear opening at the pivot point. You could easily make it bigger if you wished, just choose the pivot hinge carefully according to the weight capacity. It's not a problem for us though as the entire house to the sea side opens up for an outdoor living concept. We only have a/c in the bedrooms and study. Personally I think it would look better off centre. A centre pivot might look a bit like a shopping mall revolving door.
