BANGKOK: -- Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan on Monday rejected calls for the junta to set up a special panel to investigate former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s flight, saying it’s a police matter.

Prawit urged the public to be patient as the police are now looking into the facts to see whether those involved had broken the law.

At this point, three police officers who allegedly helped Yingluck leave the country had not been found to have broken the law, except for unlawfully using cars, Prawit said.

Police are looking into whether the accused officers had a plan ahead of Yingluck’s flight, to establish whether to lay charges against them. They are also searching for another car believed to been involved with Yingluck’s escape.

The three officers were detained for interrogation late on Thursday night after the police found evidence on CCTV cameras showing a police colonel driving in a Toyota Camry that took Yingluck from Bangkok to Sa Kaew province.

It has not yet been established whether or how she crossed the border.

I am confused. (A common state.)

Given that Yinluck was not a fugitive until after she failed to turn up at the court to hear her fate as summonsed by the court. The establishment were keeping a very heavy handed eye on her but they were not restricting her movements within the country, well not much.

The how, where, and if, she crossed the border may be another issue but until the court issued the warrant some days after she "disappeared" from her home in Bangkok Yinluck was "technically" a free citizen.

What has anyone done illegally in helping her leave her home and go for a trip? If they were police weren't they just following orders to keep a close eye on her (until she gave them the slip)?

It's interesting, been no mention of Yingluck's son, saw report state she & secretary were in car.

No idea if still in Thailand or left the building???

As for "husband", not been seen or heard of for ages..

He seem to soften his stance on Yingluck recently. Must be the result of the meeting with his brother in London. Maybe she will turn up for her verdict on Wednesday.

whose police force?  Another thing is, if she entered Cambodia through the back door of a casino then she entered the country illegally so how could she get a flight out ?  Think, think, oh the government let her keep the diplomatic passport even though she was on trial for a serious crime, move on, nothing to see here.

Just imagine if she does turn up.

Judge - Yingluck where were you?

Yingluck - at home, ill in bed.

Judge - why didn't you come to court?

Yingluck - I was ill, at home in bed.

Judge - But we've been looking for you.

Yingluck - no one told me, I've been ill.

Judge - But didn't anyone phone you, text you, msg you? Didn't the police ring your doorbell?

Yingluck - No. No one did. Can I have my bail bond money back now please?

Judge - No.

And so the pantomime would go on!

Prawit at its best... This is a police matter, so let the police investigate it, LOL. Are you sure this is a good idea? I am more inclined to think that the boys-in-green, in the end, are afraid of the boys-in-brown's power over the country. What would be a quite 'acceptable' reason for not having had any kind of a serious, in depth, reform of the largest mafia organisation in the country...

PS: I'm such a bad person I could think the military let the RTP run their criminal turf, in exchange for the favour of not putting their nose into the military's 'shop'...

Good one! ...And, in fact, did anyone search her different residences inside the country, to check whether she was there, hmm? Imagine when the 'escape' would have been a hoax, and she would show up, with 10,000 'sympathizers', the 4,000 BiBs on her side, what would it be, a 'counter-coup'? ...In the Land of Scoundrels? My imagination, I know, but...

Yes, leave the investigation to the police. After all if you have some agencies or organizations less easily "influenced" some unsavory facts may come out that will be very difficult to explain away. Come on sheepole, blindly follow the plan please!
