SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea has been moving airplanes and boosting defences on its east coast after the United States dispatched B-1B bombers to the Korean peninsula over the weekend, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported on Tuesday, citing the country's spy agency.

The United States seemed to have disclosed the flight route of the bombers intentionally because North Korea seemed to be unaware, the report said.

South Korea's National Intelligence Service was unable to confirm the report immediately.

North Korea's foreign minister said on Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump had declared war on North Korea and that Pyongyang reserved the right to take countermeasures, including shooting down U.S. bombers even if they are not in its air space.

What is the badly coiffeured boy leader hoping to achieve by that .. Mig 29's are his most modern warplanes and that design is near 40 yrs old .. Everything else in N K's inventory is even older and more obsolete .. Up against the latest kit the U S can call upon its a bit like taking a pea shooter to a gunfight ..

It surely is .. A technological marvel though not quite as " Angel of Death " looking as the B2 .. Though the B1's nickname " Bone " is more apt ..

In jungle survival school, we learned how things that make noise are usually harmless.  However,  things you don't hear, or see, is what you should worry about.  Like the B2.

By all accounts Kim despises the B1 above all other due no doubt to its own capability and the fact its always accompanied by lots of fighters when it goes about its business ..

Perhaps we could club together and buy him a one way tickets to the DMZ so that he can see and experience war first hand. I will chip in 100 baht.

Given the Reuters OP can't respond to your question kindly allow this poster to give it a good go.

The OP points out to those who'd been unaware that NK radars are largely deficient. Pongyang had no reaction to the B1-B and fighters intrusively near its coast and in international waters which indicates its radars missed it. NK is also unable to sustain its military radars 24/7 on end due to energy deficiencies -- civilian radars at airports do in fact get priority hour to hour and daily.

It is also the case that the B1-B is a standoff bomber. It can position itself out of range of NK antiaircraft missiles and fighters to fire off missiles into NK (or anywhere).

The bottom line in this high visibility exercise by the U.S. is that NK did nothing to indicate an awareness of its presence so near to NK to the east. The exercise demonstrates that NK defenses against air and sea operations are entirely deficient. If the U.S. were to launch an air-sea attack NK defenses to its east would be catastrophically deficient. Now the world knows definitively what the Boyz in Pongyang have already known for a very long time. That is, the NK coastline is a shooting gallery that is wide open to a massive penetration inland by attacking forces.

Or, it would make either one of them take things up a notch, just to get noticed.
