EmilySB, Have you investigated "Golden Visas" for Schengen Visa, which allows you to live, work and reside in countries that are covered by the Schengen Visa. Very easy if you can buy a property.

A type C visa is for short stays up to 90 days and never any longer. Some Schengen countries allow easy extension  (up to 90 days, not longer) and others allow extensions  (up to 90 days) only for emergencies.

Extending your stay from 85 to 90 days probably is not what you are looking for. So you have to return to Thailand and make a new application.

Also note that as a rule you can only stay 90 days in a period of 180 days. So this means that with you having stayed almost 90 days (3 months) you will have to stay away from the Schengen area for 3 months.

For longer stays over 90 days you would need to apply for a type D visa once back in Thailand. If you are eligable for any such thing is different for each member state as a stat over 90 days is considered (temporary) immigration.  And immigration rules are not dictated by the EU Schengen rules but by each individual member state. Generally though working in the EU as a non EU immigrant is not really an option so seasonal/temporary work on a type C visa might be the best you can get.

If you are lucky a member with experience on Czech procedures will show up. But if you want to make sure about your options I'd check with either the immigration/visa department in the Czech republic now  (they must have a website or telephone number) or contact the Czech embassy in BKK after you return, or email them.

Edit: processing time for a new type C visa is up to 15 calendar days. But as an exception that can be extended to 30 or 60 days. You can apply as early as 3 months before your intended travel date but the embassy may think that you want to immigrate or overstate your visa if it seems you want to work a lot in the Czech republic. So do be careful with planning your next steps!

It is unclear what is the purpose of your 1-year visit to CZ.

Are you going for tourism or work?

The Type D visa is not for tourism - it is primarily for study or work (among other reasons).
