Visa on arrival in Hanoi

Any experience with visa on arrival in Hanoi from Thailand, does the waiting time at the counter in Hanoi airport counter rapid, say less than 30 min?  Otherwise I will make the tourist visa in Bangkok.

with the letter issued by the online Vietnam visa service I was able to obtain my 30 day visa at Noi Bai airport in Hanoi in about 15mins...this was in July and there was no queue at about 7pm...

 

nice new terminal, hadn't been since 2011...

 

there is a large waiting area by the visa counter indicative that things might be different when it's busy...if yer in a hurry then maybe better to get the visa at the VN embassy in BKK to avoid any delay...
