One month apartment rental for under 12,000 baht per month

Not bad, just a bit on the outskirts (eastern end) of Bangkok, so cheaper.

It used to be the end of the Skytrain line, but nowadays that one is extended quite a bit, so you could say On Nut gets more and more into the center :)

Oh Nuts?

Sure, in the center of nowhere.

Check Sawadee Place Phahonyothin soi 41. Its old and tired but in a good area. One bedroom place costs about 6,000 a month. Only place I know of you will not need to pay 3 months up front (1st month, last month & damage deposit). They have accommodated for friends of mine before in the same kind of way. Huge swimming pool and they can buy internet cards for weekly packages full (old) furnishings. Not seen in in a few years but it likely still is the same

You tried Air Bnb?

lol

AirBNB is over priced compared to what is on offer if staying a month or more in BKK, ive used AirBNB for short stays of up to 2 weeks in a few places then it makes sense after that http://www.thaiapartment.com/search-price2 check this site out.

Teepak.com

Prakkard.com

Or get on a bike and look in sois. Helps if you are with a Thai speaker.

Dont feed the rip off agencies unless you have no time to save money or are on a multinational expat contract
