A well known English footballer has sent his heartfelt and eloquent condolences to the Thai people on the occasion of the Royal Funeral.

Emile Heskey - who played for Liverpool, Leicester and England in a stellar career - went onto his Instagram account to post a picture of His Majesty King Bhumibol competing in a yacht and offered the following words:

"I have been to Thailand many times and can truly feel why the Thais love their king so much.

"King Bhumibol was not just the father of the Thai people but also their hearts and soul.

"He worked tirelessly for his people for more than 70 years.

"My heart and thoughts are with my Thai fans," he said.

In a story reported by Tnews, Emile added:

"Although he has passed away I am positive that his legacy and guidance will remain strong.

"In remembrance of the greatest king, King Bhumibol Adulyadej (1927-2016)".
