Firefighters rescued two workers trapped inside a warehouse building in Chiang Rai’s Muang district early Thursday.

Police said the fire started at 4.30am at the warehouse, which was being used to store automobile painting equipment, in Tambon Rimkok’s in Ban Santal Luang.

Five fire engines from Muang Chiang Rai Municipality went to the scene and firefighter found two workers trapped inside, rescuing them with a ladder.

The fire was put out 40 minutes later after the blaze damaged the building, its contents and a pickup parked behind the building.

Neighbours saw smoke billowing out of the building so they alerted police.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
