Mistake on eform for Australia visa

Featured Replies

Damn, I just wrote some wrong information on the eform, saying one of my kids was born in the UK rather than Thailand. But they have sent an email saying she has been granted a visa, should I worry about this -  the letter doesn't mention where she was born.

Does anyone have a number I could call to check this?

All the numbers I've tried don't work.

Have you tried this +66 2 118 7100, Australian Embassy Bangkok, ask for the visa section.

You may need to complete a form 1023 Notification of incorrect answer(s) https://www.border.gov.au/Forms/Documents/1023.pdf

Thanks so much. I got some other advice to forget it as the visa had already been granted and they wont check the whereabouts of my daughters birth, but think best to phone this number first to make sure.

So you can make a more informed choice.

From the form if you haven't read it.

Several provisions of the Migration Act 1958 require you to inform the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (the department) of any incorrect information that you may have given:
• in your visa application;

This obligation remains even if you are subsequently granted a visa.

If you do not comply with requirements to advise the department of incorrect information and give correct answers, your visa is liable to be cancelled under the Migration Act 1958.

... and there's no time statutes limitation on coming forward with the info

I only got a recorded message at that number. Same as the VFS with just info about having to make an appointment.

Maybe I'll have to call Australia.

sorry, what does that mean?

it does not matter how long,

after the discovery, that you still have to (legally) come forward with the updated information...

take a convoluted example of how Thai Lies can get big...:

Thai girl has 2 kids with a local town somchai, unmarried legally, decades back...

Eventually thai girl runs away from drunken somchai after 10 years of beatings

- basically abandoning the kids to him when she fled

- never seen again for all those years, (but recently made contact via a Facebook fluke...)

Soon, still all those years ago, the Thai girls meets a rich farang, who has made it clear that he'll have nothing to do with a girl who's already got kids.

So, she doesn't tell him! - especially as it was made clear (in her Thai mind at least) - that it was under the threat of bodily harm! )

He thinks she's a virgin, and eventually another couple of kids pop out.

He thinks there's only 2 kids involved...  when, as far as she is concerned, there are really four! (to her at least)

Farang'n'her have been Divorced for 10 years now, and he still doesn't know :saai: her secret!

Time passes by...

Girl, many years later, after the facebook reveal, wants to now herself sponsor her original kids, now adults, to falangland...

She's become aware that she has to be explicit on how many offspring she has, irrespective of the relationship mix with the  different men,

when the time comes to do a Sponsor Application of someone else.

The quandary to be revealed - is that the girl's Visa/Residency/Citizenship were all done decades back, with the knowledge of only the 2 kids - the later ones of the farang marriage!

The Immigration legality isn't at the forefront of her Thai mind's prioroities - rather that the 2 youngest don't know mummy's secret (that she wants to stay secret)...

Coming back to now, and the time limits, being unlimited...

If? she comes clean on the earlier unannounced kids in the DNA mix

- does she run the risk of Immigration make her long standing Citizenship all Null'n'Void??

...all because of a Thai Lie only now threatening to be exposed...

Convoluted is an understatement 555.

The simple version, anything you say/claim can be used against you in the future.

ie, you lie, make a mistake, omit, they find out, it gives them reason to cancel the visa/entry/application and ban you from entering again for 3+ years.

To your example at the extreme, they could deny your child entry at immigration once they have arrived due to the error.

I highly doubt that, if I just said I made a mistake. Still can't find a number that answers.
