Hmong Man Saves Four Year-Old Boy after Drowning in Chiang Rai

CHIANG RAI – A dramatic video has emerged on Facebook of Hmong hill-tribes man in Chiang Rai frantically attempting to resuscitate a young Thai boy who drowned while playing near a small waterway.

In the video, a young Thai boy lies motionless in the dirt, his shirt rolled up, as a Hill-tribesman straddles him, firmly compressing the young Thai boy’s chest and alternatively blowing air into his lungs.

Out of camera shot his friends, speaking in a mixture of Thai and Hmong ask repeatedly whether the young Thai boy is breathing or not? About one minute and seven seconds after the video begins the young Thai boy moves his mouth.

Well done that man !! :jap:

Wonderful. Hopefully he will get his well deserved recognition

good to hear.

It brought to mind:  I was on my motorbike one evening. narrow country road, twilight.  A little boy darted left across the street to a dog.  I was going about 15 mph, and was just swerving to the right to avoid hitting him.  But then, just as fast, he darted to the right, directly in front of my bike.  There was not enough room to swerve, so I immediately ditched my bike on its right side.  I think the front wheel touched the kid.  He cried and ran to his mom, but not from pain, but from fear (I let out a mighty cuss word).   I scraped my elbow and lower arm.  Had a helmet on, otherwise it would have been a case for the hospital - or the Pearly Gates.

But just as dramatic was the reaction of the father.  He came out and thanked me profusely.  Warm moment.

BTW, I just renewed accident insurance.  It's an annual policy, and there are 4 categories, but all are rather cheap.  I get it from Bkk bank.  The first year I got it, about 5 yrs ago, I actually had a bad accident, and got the max payment for injury, which was Bt.30k (the overall bill was Bt.160k).  Perhaps doesn't sound like much, but every bit helps.  They paid without a hitch.
