Police in Uttaradit told reporters that they think a Norwegian pensioner staying with a Thai woman might have died of the cold.

Arne Larsen, 68, was found in bed dressed only in his underpants.

His local Tha Pla girlfriend had popped out for a few hours to sell stuff at the local market.

When she returned home rigor mortis had already set in.

Mr Larsen's body has been sent for a full autopsy to Phitsanulok to find out why he died.

Tha Pla cops said that he had met a girl local to the area while in Pattaya and the two had kept in touch when he went back to Oslo.

When he returned to Thailand he could not find her in Pattaya and contacted her in Utaradit before travelling to meet her.

The local cops conjectured that Mr Larsen had died from the cold, reported ONB News.

One of the biggest BS statements ever to come out of a Thai policeman's mouth !

And that is saying something !

Sure the Norwegian embassy will be thoroughly impressed with that statement! its minus 1c in Oslo today!!!

A man from NORWAY, who dies of the "cold" in Thailand????  Absolutely one if the most ignorant and asinine statements the RTP has EVER put out!

Ya, but you gotta remember, there's a LOT of competition in this contest!

He was 68, hmmm, I would say his adrenaline was up while he was engaging in the most liked sport we men love, and that is not slapping the salami for us men with partners, and it would appear that the goal post kept being moved as he wanted to score after rekindling with the girl he met from Pattaya when he was here previously, might have been a little awkward during and he popped an artery when he fell asleep.

The way I would want to go out, RIP

As for the cops statement, cold weather, could someone please slap him for me, he would probably be better as a soccer referee.

Well you got to hand it to the RTP this time a Norwegian has died here due to the cold.:cheesy:

Maybe they should shut up, get an autopsy done then comment.

Strange it happened when the gf was at the market.

The poor Thai police has never been to Norway, nor is the study of world geography a prerequisite to be a policeman.

He could have thought that Norway is near the Sahara desert.

Full rigor mortis had set in really that quick, something very off here.

Rigor mortis sets in as early as 4 hours after death and (under normal conditions) "peaks" about 13 hours after death.

"Several factors also affect the progression of rigor mortis, and investigators take these into account when estimating the time of death. One such factor is the ambient temperature. When conditions are warm, the onset and pace of rigor mortis are sped up by providing a conducive environment for the metabolic processes that cause decay. "

The lows in Uttaradit were all the way down to 240 C ! Or, for someone from Norway, beautiful summer weather.

The old fella was 68 going on 69. Maybe they should be checking if there were any little blue pills (or empty packages) laying around as it's more likely he died from a heart attack (or stroke) than from exposure in the nice weather.

A lot of things don't add up here, like how does a man who normally lives in a cold country die from the cold in a warm. country  ?

She popped out for a couple of hours to sell stuff at the local market   When she returned  rigor mortis had set in?  Two things wrong with that statement 1. If she went to the market it would have been day or early evening so not cold   2. I have never heard of  anyone dying and rigor mortis setting in so quickly in a warm situation. ( 2 hours ? )

Also the alarm bells ring when you hear they met in Pattaya

Obviously the police need a lesson in geography  and told where Norway is. Their ridiculous assumptions are everything we have come to expect from the illiterate Thai police force.

In my humble opinion foul play is definitely suspected possibly with police involved in the cover-up
