Srisaket monk promotes local tourism, trains 39 local guides

SRISAKET, 27 November 2017 (NNT) – A local Buddhist monk in Srisaket is contributing to the Amazing Thailand tourism campaign by promoting local tourism in border areas and delivering certificates to 39 local guides after they have completed a tourism training course.

Phra Khru Koson Sikhakij, the Buddhist monk who is president of Luang Pu Sruang foundation, at Wat Prai Pattana Temple in Pu Sing district, presided over the certificate-delivering ceremony to the 39 local guides who have completed the 30-hour local tourism course.

He said that Pu Sing district is one of the most unique tourism districts in Thailand as it has mountains, dam, and rivers, as well as being a gateway to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The district houses Wat Prai Pattana temple which draws many visitors each year.

The local guides will play an active role in welcoming tourists, providing them with information regarding the local areas from their own experience as being true locals. Local guides who have been trained are now aware of proper ways to interact with visitors.
