CCTV footage from two cameras showed a dramatic shootout at a resort in the Soi Khao Noi area of Bang Lamung in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police were acting on reports of a drugs and sex party at two rooms -302 and 303 - at the property.

When they arrived they were not expecting guns to be used said Wisarut Buathong who insisted they were not negligent.

But as they moved towards the rooms a man rushed out and shot five bullets from a 9mm gun at the officers who themselves fired back.

No one was hit though Wisarut said he was very lucky after a pick-up was peppered by bullets.

Arrested was the shooter 29 year old Woratha or "Golf" who said that he had come to get drugs from a big dealer called "Bank".

Sanook said he had six previous drug arrests to his name.

A man called "Bird" escaped in the confusion.

Golf attempted his escape in a Vios plowing through a police motorcycle but had to give himself up.

Thirty grams of "ice" methamphetamine and 20 Ya Ba tablets and a weighing machine found in his car were taken into evidence.

Investigations continue as the inquiry widens.

I was told it's at least 5 years behind bars for drug stuff: 6 x 5 = 30 years. How can it be he is just 29 years old?:whistling:

No one was hit.. the police need to go to the gun range more

Surprising the police didn't make a point of shooting him after capture (shot while trying to escape) since he tried to kill them.  Actually rather restrained of them.

I guess it shows how difficult it actually is to hit non-stationary targets with a hand gun in the dark while trying to shot fast in a high stress situation. If you try it, you may be surprised at your ability to miss a man size target only three meters away.  But I agree the cops need more range time and need to practice this type of scenario instead of just shooting one box of ammo at a static target on the police range a few times a year.

Some of the nicknames are quite hilarious.

There should be quite a few called "Dick". although I'm yet to come across any.

That was the detectives name.... Private Dick!

What were the police doing out after dark?  This accounts for their confusion - they could n't see the colour of the notes.
