Very Slow Internet to Outside Thailand This Week.

Featured Replies

I have been experiencing slow internet to servers in the USA.

Access to Bangkok is fast. But my usual websites in the states are loading like dial up. I am using TRUE. Anyone else having speed issues?

Broken undersea AAG cable slows Internet down across Southeast Asia:

jepp, exactly what I've noticed.

Fortunately, the speed improves noticably, when using a VPN to my Home-Country (Germany).

There are "many" undersea lines to the US....one (or more) is always having problems. Whether that's the reason for slow international speed by any ISP or other internet/server problems within the ISP is the question.  But it does seem ISPs like to all too often use any undersea cable news reported problem as an excuse.

Now I'm not with True anymore but now with AIS Fibre.  When I was with True on a DOCSIS (cable) plan I was never impressed with their international speed.  Below are three different speed tests to the U.S .on this Sunday morning....a couple of multi-thread tests and a single thread test....remember, below are AIS Fibre results.   I'm in Bangkok on a 200Mb/50Mb plan...international speed to the U.S. is fine.

But hey, from late Sep to 15 Nov my AIS Fibre international speed was far below what I had been use to with them...I was complaining around twice a week to AIS Fibre...then magically on 16 Nov it was back to being fast/what I had been use to.  I know that problem had nothing to do with any undersea cable problem as other AIS Fibre customers still had good international speed  in speed test results they were posting....my problem was simply an AIS Fibre internal network problem affecting me (and probably others) but not all AIS Fibre customers.

Today is 16/12 and I'm still having problems opening US websites and sites that don't load fully. It's much worse using Chrome, it seems to work much better using the Edge browser, and Opera. I also have True, located in Bangkok. If it continues, I'll give True a call and see if they know what is causing the problem. I believe that link you posted from the Samui Times is outdated.

Same here in the sticks in Isaan.

As already suggested you could try using a different VPN.

Could be your online security depending on what program you use.

Where I am the cold dry windy weather does sometimes make a difference, perhaps it's the static ..... ?!
