Fresh markets/restaurants in Amphoe Muang Ubon?

Besides Sunee Market and Tops Market in Central Ubon, does anyone recommend any other organic/fresh markets to shop at? Also, how about restaurants that offer healthy food choices? Cooking at home has been the better option, some of the street food here definitely has put a toll on the body. I really enjoy Thai/Essan food but eating it daily gets quite boring.

Have not noticed any restaurants making a play on healthy eating so i can only offer a couple of suggestions as as to food type:

  • eating fresh fish. The Ring Road restaurant 100 metres south of the Mun river bridge on the northbound lanes between Sisaket and Yasothon junctions. It's pinned in Thai as being opposite Thum Tamwaree Tyre Shop (or something similar) on Google maps. Their Isaan Tom Plaa is good (but probably partly as a result of MSG!). The tilapi style fish here in Thailand does get a bit boring though.

  • vietnamese food can have a high veggie content. The curiously named Golf House restaurant 200 metres short of the western end of Pitchitrangsan is good in that regard

Both are pretty good value places

Thank you guys. The whole som tam and gai yang routine daily gets boring. It's pretty much all I see down the road where I live at. Not a variety at all. I've adapted to a lot of the food out here but have resulted with a few health problems as well. Typhoid fever from dirty food has made my stay here much funner.

plenty of good food all over Ubon try Ons in Don Klang short distance from U Park, same side of road, the night market there has some good food. On has a good menu offering several Thai dishes and is reasonably priced.also around nong bua market, also around there you will find buddies bar ,food not bad, after 10pm try the night club for excelent entertainment and reasonable food. during the day big C food court has some fair offers or head towards Nam bua where you can find some good food. basic advice ,get on your feet,Ubon is without a doubt far as im concerned the tops,Ohh i forgot to mention Central Plaza, personally i came to live in thailand therefore am not interested in farange food, hope this helps a little.
