A man with a mental disorder died in a fall from his room on the eighth floor of a Bangkok condominium in the early hours of Friday, police said.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after 4.30am along with Rua Katanyu Foundation rescuers and a doctor from the Siriraj Hospital. They found the body of That Srisan, 29, on the ground floor in front of the Charal Garden Condominium on Soi Charal Sanitwong 13 in Bangkok’s Phasi Charoeng district.

His stepfather, Thani Wararak, 57, told police That had been receiving treatment at the Somdej Chao Phraya Hospital for four years for mental problem and had an ID card given to people with a mental disorder.

Thani said That had tried to kill himself several times by walking on roads and the rooftop of the condo building.

He said he loved and took good care of That as his own son since That was nine years old.

Thani said That complained of chest pains and could not breathe on Thursday night so he gave him medicine from the hospital and went to sleep.

But upon waking early in the morning, he found That had disappeared and was informed of his death.
