The deputy commissioner of the tourist police has nabbed the Thai guide shown on social media clambering up a stupa at Wat Arun, the Temple of the Dawn.

They took the guide - Naranon Narakhamin, who dresses like a man - to the temple to apologize. Pictures of her with another tourist were all over social media earlier in the week along with other alleged misdemeanors.

Surachet Hakpal said that the suspect had been arrested on a charge of climbing up an ancient monument and displaying inappropriate behavior.

She will appear in court in Taling Chan and faces a month in jail or a fine of 10,000 or both. It will be up to the court to decide, said Surachet who has been highly visible in police matters in recent weeks.

He said it was important to set an example in this case as 34 million visitors will be coming to Thailand and the message should be clear that any copycat behavior will not be tolerated.

Two weeks ago two foreigners were fined 5,000 baht each and deported for showing their butts at the same temple which is one of the most important religious and tourist sites in the country.

Sorry, but apologies just dont cut it, unless accompanied by at least 2 bottles of Red Fanta.

Beware the Buddhist lynch mobs....

In the past month 100% of high profile arrests for climbing on Wat Arun have been perpetrated by those who are either openly gay or lesbian. What's with the wat?

in a land where gender is defined by a pronoun ''KA '' ''KRAP''...

Yep! Now we have copycats of  sanctuary invasive sort.
